To apply athletes foot cream to labia?

Sorry for terrible overshare but what else is the internet for.

I am absolutely driven mad by thrush. I have no yoghurt in the house bar Frubes (although I suppose easy internal application? But I would worry about the sugar). I have no money until payday, 8 squirmy scratchy fanny abrading days away.

What I do have is two kinds of athletes foot cream? Surely one fungicide is much like another?

Here's something to take your mind off it ...

'Itchy Fanny, we don't taaaaaaaaaaaaaalk anymore'

(I don't know where this mishearing first came from, but I can't ever hear anyone talk about itchy fannies without Cliff in leather trousers getting stuck in my head)

(I recommend avoiding tight leather trousers btw)

Vebrithien · 17/06/2022 23:31

The "quenelle of organic coconut oil" has absolutely finished me off!

Good luck with it all @420Bruh . I'm another one saying it's all fine to go with the foot cream. DD, when a baby, and myself were once prescribed the same cream for oral, nipple and vaginal thrush. Thankfully, three separate tubes!

OK so these are the ingredients on the cream I have. I think it's identical but maybe weaker than the fanny one.

I nearly fainted when that photo came up 😂

Ponderingwindow · 17/06/2022 23:40

I’ve seen the exact same strength and ingredients available for sale in the feminine hygiene aisle and the foot care aisle. It just depends on which tube of athletes foot crème your have. It might be the exact same thing you can buy otc for external feminine itch, it might not.

it’s definitely not the same as the vaginal suppositories. You don’t want to do any inserting.

Were you prescribed in UK? I get free prescriptions but I was thinking it would come under the list of stuff they don't prescribe any more as it's available OTC.

Interested parties may be pleased to know that all labia remain attached and the itching is very much reduced.

Brief moment of panic when i saw blood in the toilet but actually just got my period, to accompany the thrush and mastitis. Thread has been very cheering though ❤️

Thanks all for salad dressing recipes but I will not be putting tea tree oil or garlic in my vagina. An incident with a whisky bottle while at university has made me rather wary.

I had it prescribed twice during pregnancy. Solidarity for the thrush, period and mastitis! Bloody shit to have all three together! Try for a gp phone appt tomorrow, they will likely prescribe you the pessary too. I haven't used athletes foot cream, but I made my DH use it when he got it off me when I was pregnant (massive bloody lie thst sex causes labour, just thrush!). I wasn't wasting a drop of my tube, I was bloody uncomfortable enough being heavily pregnant! So he got the foot cream. It worked.

Canesten used to label 1% clotrimazole as a thrush medication, but now market it as for athlete's foot. Other manufacturers still show it as for thrush such as Boots (see pic)

At Lloyds Chemist, 1% Canesten is £5.29 for 20g. Their own brand is £6.69 for 50g. Cheapest I have found is Wilko own brand £0.60 for 20g (see pic) but you may find stocks are unreliable.

I have done when I was desperate & waiting for the proper stuff to be delivered, Vagisil is also good as it numbs the itching.

Nat6999 · 18/06/2022 00:13

Look at online pharmacies, I got 3 fluconozole tablets for £15.

TOADfan · 18/06/2022 00:30

Can you not go to the chemist and get it for free under the minor aliments scheme? I do it whenever I have thrush or a coldsore etc saves you having to buy it and spending £23 when you can get it for free and only takes a minute or two to fill in the form with the pharmacist.

Frustratedcamel · 18/06/2022 00:36

@420Bruh So you have a pharmacy first scheme in your area, similar to this one? You can get a consultation with a pharmacist for minor ailments and if you don’t usually pay for prescriptions, you can get the treatment free.

Frustratedcamel · 18/06/2022 00:37

Sorry…that should say do you?

I had no idea this was a thing.

MrsClatterbuck · 18/06/2022 01:43

Try AYP health care. Very reasonable for tablets for thrush. I got 6 for less than £12

WhackingPhoenix · 18/06/2022 01:47

Haven’t RTFT past your photo of the cream so not sure if this has been addressed. It’s clotrimazole so it’s fine to use on your labia.

You'll need a fluconazole tablet (if not pregnant) or a clotrimazole pessary to actually clear the infection, though. Both treatments are available free of charge from sexual health clinics if you’ve no means to pay for OTC treatment.

MrsClatterbuck · 18/06/2022 01:47

I have also had a bath with a lot of tea tree oil and found it more soothing than the actual cream. Have also used tea tree oil cream.

Phrenologistsfinger · 18/06/2022 01:49

I’ve done the garlic thing before and the weirdest thing is that if you insert it in yourself you can taste it in your mouth! Does the vagina have taste buds?! It’s mad…

oakleaffy · 18/06/2022 02:03

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 17/06/2022 21:36

Maybe if you have athlete's fanny.

My goodness! Is athlete's foot the same as Thrush?
Athlete's fanny did make me laugh

Certain Antibiotics nearly always give me thrush, horrid things.

estellacruella · 18/06/2022 02:19

in scotland we have a.minor ailment service where the pharmacist can give u thrush cream (amongst other my
things)over the counter for free

Gingerkittykat · 18/06/2022 03:05

Um, forget the thrush, I want to know the whole story here!

Metabigot · 18/06/2022 03:13

I've used the 1% canesten cos it's far cheaper and it's been fine. No burning.

It's just weaker canesten did the job

Metabigot · 18/06/2022 03:15

pixie5121 · 18/06/2022 01:34

I had no idea this was a thing.

I believe its been stopped in England? My pharmacy has stopped it anyway so unless it's a local thing

Merryweather80 · 18/06/2022 03:56

Forget the salad dressing recipes. I nneeeeeedddd to know the whole story behind the whiskey bottle.
Forever more thrush will be known as athletes fanjo.

(Who decided to try garlic cloves in the fanjo. Why? What? How? Where? When? I'm not sure if the garlic or tea tree in a tampon is worse)

garlictwist · 18/06/2022 05:30

It's probably better than a strawberry frube, but no - I wouldn't.

Runciblefork · 18/06/2022 06:10

MarryMeTomHardy · 17/06/2022 21:32

Have you got any organic coconut oil? That can be applied to the area...
Please don't use the foot cream...

Op hasn't got any money for 8 days. Yes of course she has organic coconut oil. It's in the fridge next to the caviar and Moet 😀

StridTheKiller · 18/06/2022 06:22

Yogurt has to have live bacteria to work, you can't stuff a Muller crunch corner up your fanny!
Hope you get better soon OP.
Athlete's Fanny 🤣🤣🤣
