To apply athletes foot cream to labia?

Sorry for terrible overshare but what else is the internet for.

I am absolutely driven mad by thrush. I have no yoghurt in the house bar Frubes (although I suppose easy internal application? But I would worry about the sugar). I have no money until payday, 8 squirmy scratchy fanny abrading days away.

What I do have is two kinds of athletes foot cream? Surely one fungicide is much like another?

It's fine - works perfectly!

420Bruh · 17/06/2022 21:39

Here are the ingredients for the other. They're the same surely.

Perhaps give your pharmacy a call and see if they can advise?

I wouldn't if I could avoid it, but depends on your brand, it does look like it has the same active ingredients and treats jock itch which is found in similar intimate areas.

Is there anyone you're able to ask, either for some cream or the funds?

Memaww · 17/06/2022 21:40

Canesten 1% (for feet) is exactly the same as canesten (2%) for vaginas.

Exactly. Just a lower 'dose'

wwyd2021medicine · 17/06/2022 21:40

Used the same for both here too no problems

Boating123 · 17/06/2022 21:40

I'm never going to be able to look at a box of frubes the same way again.

Thank you assenting voices for telling me what I want to hear!

Everyone telling me to ask someone, I'm afraid my pride prevents me from admitting to a. Being this skint. And b. Being this skint with thrush.

Cool flannel tonight and get to the pharmacy for Fluconazole tomorrow!

liveforsummer · 17/06/2022 21:42

It just won't be as good - the fanny one is stronger but absolutely use it in the mean time. My sore why everyone is so horrified tbh

chubbachub · 17/06/2022 21:44

I would do it OP

NeverDropYourMooncup · 17/06/2022 21:45

The frubes could be used as a cold compress, however - just make sure you cover the sharp edges of the plastic (wrap in cling film, perhaps?) so you don't catch yourself whilst sitting on them.

MissDollyMix · 17/06/2022 21:46

I use them interchangeably but the foot one is weaker than the fanny one so it’s not as effective but it’s better than nothing.

MarryMeTomHardy · 17/06/2022 21:46

It's a natural antifungal, as long as it's not got anything added I would risk non-organic in your situation 😮

Yousexybugger · 17/06/2022 21:46

Oh if it's just clotrimazole then yeah should be ok. Thought it was going to be hydrocortisone

Sockwomble · 17/06/2022 21:46

I've used canestan athletes foot cream to treat fungal pad rash ( on older child not a baby).

MinorWomensWhiplash1 · 17/06/2022 21:48

Yes it’s absolutely fine to use daktarin for thrush OP, I have done so on many occasions.

I don't know if I could in all good conscience then put them in a packed lunch to be honest. Protective clingfilm or not.

I'm not sure she was planning on sitting on them...

Double the amount if half as strong.

Glad you have this predicament op as this thread is rather funny.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/06/2022 21:57

it's totally fine..I've done it in emergency. I don't get thrush with discharge but sometimes the hellish paper cuts.. and yes it did help, got me through work and partly healed me up. It's the same thing really.
My nutritionist I used to see always said all yoghurt was bad for thrush/ candida inc natural...it just causes the yeast to grow.. I don't eat any dairy now

Lovemusic33 · 17/06/2022 21:58

I have used it before and it’s fine.

ZenNudist · 17/06/2022 21:58

Use it.

I just checked my thrush cream and it's identical but 2% not 1%. I voted YABU but you're not. It's the same stuff but weaker. Ive used 1% cream before for thrush cos I get it all the time and its soothing regardless of strength.

I noticed a while ago they stopped calling it just 1% cream and 2% cream and now call it athletes foot and thrush cream.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/06/2022 21:58

It's all fungal.. damp places... I have super sensitive skin and it really helped me, in fact I didn't need to buy the proper Canesten after using up the foot stuff

PashunFroot · 17/06/2022 22:00

Also without sounding like a filthy perv, what kind of knickers are you wearing? I used to get thrush and really sore, blistered skin in my groin. My husband suggested 100% cotton underwear and I swear down after 4 days everything was healed and I’ve not had any problems since.

ElephantsFart · 17/06/2022 22:02

I’m not a pharmacist but work in an allied area. It will be fine. The worst that will happen is it won’t work. I find that adding some vinegar to bath water and giving the area a soak is also helpful.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 17/06/2022 22:02

This thread is why I love Mumsnet - entertaining and educational all at once.

Hope your fanny is better soon op
