I thought I would start a thread. It's muggy and I'm tired. I can't wait for the cool Autumn days and darker evenings 🤣

OP posts:
CuriousCatfish · 16/06/2022 17:21

There's been loads of these threads.

I love the warm days and light nights. It's so nice to have hours of daylight left after I finish work.

I agree. I love coming home from work and getting put into the garden or into the woods with the dog, listening to the birds and watching the wildlife. I love commuting in the daylight, and I love the long days at the weekends when we can get away for day trips or up the hills. Spring and summer lift my spirits and allow me to get outdoors for long periods of time and away from my desk. Brilliant.

Hellsbe · 16/06/2022 17:26

I’m looking forward to tomorrow😀. Working a few hours then home to sit in the garden on a sun lounger,
freezer is full of ice lollies , ice cream and cold drinks. Brand new book to start. What’s not to love!

I'm with you OP!
Posters who think the opposite...why join the thread?!
This is clearly for people who dislike Summer. Title says it all!😀

But OP asked for opinions. That is what AIBU is. Don't like the answers you might get - don't post in AIBU. Isn't that the mantra?

We are all so different. I’ve been absolutely dreading tomorrow all week. I’ve postponed an appointment so I don’t have to go out, I’ve deliberately not arranged any other plans at all. I’ve frozen 3 ice packs in preparation and my mental health has taken a hit knowing it’s coming. Ridiculous? Yes maybe, but that’s the reality of my life and my living situation and sadly, my health.

However, I absolutely CAN understand that others will be so looking forward to tomorrow and any other hot days after that!
Everyone I know is excited for it and describes hot weather as “nice” and cooler weather - which I love - as “horrible”. I don’t think they’re weird or there’s anything wrong with them for enjoying the heat, and I used to be one of them. I remember I used to watch the weather forecast religiously as a 16/17 year old and be so excited seeing hot weather being predicted and I remember crying one day when the 30+ temperatures gradually cooled down 😅

Can you imagine having to live that way for the majority of the year though? That’s the reality for most of the landmass of UK - a few very hot days, and the majority are warmish, cool or cold with endless damp weather and then freezing temperatures. A few ice packs in comparison to months of soaring heating bills, endless darkness and damp housing is to be celebrated.

bloodyunicorns · 16/06/2022 18:53

This is literally the second hot day of the year. Think of how much were saving on electricity!!! Sunshine is good for you - vitamin D

We're 🙄

ilovesooty · 16/06/2022 19:22

It's forecast 16© and rain when I fly home on Saturday. The sooner I can get out of this godawful country again the better. Roll on August.

ilovesooty · 16/06/2022 19:24

Unless of course there's going to be a proper summer in July of course. I doubt it though.

Riapia · 16/06/2022 19:28

If you’d done your research before you moved to this country you could have avoided all of the trauma.
The earth has two poles both are fucking chilly take your pick.🐧🐧🐧☃️☃️☃️

Speak for yourselves... we hit 19° in my part of Scotland today. It was unbearable.

Grin. 19c unbearable? I was still wearing 4 layers today in that temperature.

You don't get it because you love the heat; not everyone does, not all of us have gardens to enjoy a glass of wine in either. My flat gets incredibly hot and I have no outside space to get away from it.

Nowhere at all? No parks to go and sit in etc? Loads of homes with no outside space round here and the parks are always busy with people sitting enjoying a drink, picnic, bbq etc.

In all honesty, I’d love it and I’ve really noticed that Winters aren’t as cold as they used to be.

I appreciate there are parts of the UK that aren’t like where I am and really do only get a few days of hot weather, and if you hate cold weather and it affects your health etc then I have nothing but sympathy and compassion. It’s so horrible being trapped with weather that you hate and makes you feel ill.

That's t-shirt weather to me.

I agree it’s mild not unbearable but what do you mean by 4 layers? Sounds very hot

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 19:45

How can you hate 19 with a east coast see beeeze?!

I like under 15C mostly.

Yes it sounds a lot, and don’t know why but it made me think of the Friends episode where Joey wears all of Chandler’s clothes, if you’ve seen it you’ll know the one 🤣

Same 10-17ish is the sweet spot.

I just prefer this to summer.

I am way too hot , can't wait for winter

I have 😂

I was just calculating what the four could be - and it’s probably more in number than I wear in winter

Vest top, t shirt, light sweatshirt and fleece.

Anxiernie · 16/06/2022 19:58

I'd be sweating in that in 19C! I don't even wear 4 layers in winter. Vest top, jumper, coat in December.

Oh wow ok yes that seems a lot, in 19 degrees I’d melt wearing that, even in Winter I don’t always bother with a coat as I like the feel of the cold on my skin - weirdo I know!!

Can I ask if you wear even more layers in the Winter?

I know I’m too hot all the time because people have commented, I honestly like being icy cold. I’m also experiencing perimenopause as well as other health problems so that doesn’t help.

PumpkinSpicedLatte22 · 16/06/2022 20:09

I've already started planning for September, got a large order of autumnal decorations hopefully arriving next week, pumpkin themed clothing and bedding ordered plus autumn/winter crafts and activities planned for the kids. My start of summer checklist is out and isn't very long but I've started my start of autumn checklist already because it has so much on it! I'm so excited to start preparing for the cold weather.
