Could you tell me what you mean by a biological women?

Fizbosshoes · 09/06/2022 06:41

YANBU to think it and 148 of his own party agree.

I literally don't know what he would have to do that the 211 would think was reasonable justification to remove him as PM.

Although I'm not sure who the alternatives are. There is almost no one that inspires confidence, and that is pretty depressing as well....

Fizbosshoes · 09/06/2022 06:43

Could you tell me what you mean by a biological women?
I'm presuming the PP means someone born as a woman rather than someone who identifies as one

MintJulia · 09/06/2022 06:45

They aren't saying it's ok. They are saying they don't want a messy leadership transition, without preparation or an obvious replacement. Boris will be gone by this time next year but replacement will be managed to the Tory party timescale.

WhatTheFlap · 09/06/2022 06:45

My mother is a staunch Tory supporter and has been most of her life. She is ignorant to most of what goes on, only reads the Daily Mail and has no real logic for any of her opinions.

When he first came to power, she was BJ’s biggest fan - said he was a born leader and a linguist and she trusted him to “fix all the issues in this country” (this would largely have been relating to Brexit and the forriners stealing all our jobs).

Now she is less confident but will absolutely still vote Tory as for her there is no one else capable of protecting her money when she dies and stopping immigrants from entering the country (these are seemingly the only issues she bases her vote on.)

I can’t imagine she’s the only person who thinks this way. Many of our media outlets want people to vote Tory and will absolutely play on bigotry and small mindedness to get what they want.

It makes me seethe, not just because I disagree with her point of view so vehemently but because there is seemingly no way of changing her mind. I worry it’s people like her who will ruin it for all of us. Only positive is that I don’t think she realised she had to re-register to vote when she moved house and I’m not going to be the one to tell her 😂

knittingaddict · 09/06/2022 06:58

I fully supported the safety measures and lockdown.

We've been on a DNA Family Secrets and Long Lost Family binge, all filmed during lockdown. It's heart breaking and rage inducing to see people being reunited with family members and not being able to hug each other, while all the time BJ was breaking rules left, right and centre.

I really hope those families had a good hug away from the cameras.

Not to mention those people who died with no loved ones to hold their hands.

It's bringing it home how morally bankrupt our government has become. Historically people like BJ would have done the right thing and resigned. Even Margaret Thatcher had the good grace to step down. Not this lot. 😡

knittingaddict · 09/06/2022 07:04

I feel politically homeless though.

Labour aren't up to the job, I dislike the Conservative party and can't support them, but I'm also GC. It's a real dilemma.

It is a funny thing but some posters say this, but then can never actually say what they mean by woman.

Hasn't she noticed that he's not doing a whole lot to protect her money whilst she is alive? Has she noticed fuel bills and the fact that he has done fuck all about that promise about care home fees?

spanishsummers · 09/06/2022 08:11

YANBU. It shows those MPs in a bad light, I think.

ApplesandBunions · 09/06/2022 08:28

kickupafuss · 08/06/2022 22:19

My MP supported him. He was blabbing on about forgiveness but I'm sure he's been given some sort of sweetener for his betrayal of his country. What makes me laugh is how he keeps saying about needing to get on with the job when it's clear he's only thinking of saving his own skin.

Out of interest, roughly what size majority does your MP have?

I have said this to her, she just seems to think the world would implode if Labour got in again. Still goes on about Corbyn, still goes on about Blair being a war criminal. She does my head in but you can’t talk any sense into her and many of her “well educated and intelligent” friends think exactly the same as her 🤦🏼‍♀️

Whattheflap Your mum has as much right to her opinion as you have to yours.

She's a lot older than you Maybe her political opinions have been formed through broader experience. Certainly longer experience.
I can remember endless strikes in past Labour administrations, I can remember homework by candle light and being endlessly cold because the power workers were on strike. And rubbish mountains in the streets, and rats, because binmen were on strike.
I'm not saying she's right but people's opinions are influences by their memories.

thistimelastweek · 08/06/2022 21:27

It's simple in my book.

Regardless of party loyalties, every Johnson apologist has lost sight of values and standards that truly matter in our society.

If you have 'priced in' Boris's standards then you have accepted corruption as norm.

He is pervasively corrupt.

Exactly. Which is why I keep saying that Johnson apologists are as amoral as he is.

I can remember all of that too. I can also remember the abject misery of living under Thatcher subsequently, all that did was reinforce my socialist beliefs and entrench me further on the left. Odd how precisely the same experience leads to completely different stances. I have absolutely no interest in “protecting” my money when I’m dead. I can’t take it with me.

ilovesooty · 09/06/2022 09:14

And since Johnson has done nothing whatsoever to advance or protect the interests of women I've no time for those who are prepared to see a Tory government, even one led by Johnson, reelected because they feel "politically homeless".

DuncinToffee · 09/06/2022 09:15

These 211 support the Rwanda plan, deportations of asylum seekers, any asylum seekers including children.

Colin Yeo(Barrister) - Any asylum seeker seeking protection in the United Kingdom could be sent to Rwanda... & this could apply to women & children as well...

This. It’s an excuse. Just another way of voting for self interest, except the Tories don’t give a shit about women. “Deeds not words” has been a feminist stance for over 100 years, we’d do well to bear it in mind.

I believe immigration is actually UP since Brexit. Tell your mum that what has actually happened is that we've replaced white immigrants with brown immigrants. If she's anything like my mum she with be horrified by this which absolutely delighted me.
Oh and being outside the EU means we can no longer immediately return to France people in small boats landing on the beaches in Dover.
Let me know what your mum says.

I agree.
The Tories have increased poverty which will massively affect women. Cut police and courts to such an extent they've practically made rape legal. I'm properly gender critical and I can see that the Tories are a much greater threat to the wellbeing of women than transwoman are. Plus, all the problems people are complaining about regarding encroachment into biological womens spaces have happened under the Tories.

Odessafile · 09/06/2022 09:41

@knittingaddict why are labour not up to the job ? And this lot are ? So basically we are stuck with this lot forever.. Even if Starmer promised to back track on trans issues I'm certain there would be cries of 'but we can't trust him' 🙄
