Thank you for that link @Fere - I had heard that reports of his impending death were greatly exaggerated.

You can think anything you like.

That's very decent of you, thank you. But what do you think?

@AlternativePerspective the questions asked were written by mnet users and Justine got a good spread.
Maybe you could have written one for him to be asked. I don't think that particular interview made us look like pathetic little women so I gave to disagree with you on that point.
As far as I'm concerned labour can keep this whole sorry mess in the public view whilst putting forward their policies. I'm sure that like most of the population (cabinet members excepted) can focus on more than one thing at a time.

Jott · 08/06/2022 20:31

There's still time for Johnson to be forced out though. If the 140-something rebels who voted against him want to make life difficult for him, they can. All it takes if for 41 of them to vote against the government on any given issue and it'll not pass. This is is more or less what happened to May, she couldn't get legislation through and had no option but to resign. I give Johnson around a month before he's forced out. The question then is will he sense which way the wind is blowing and call an election to take as many of the fuckers down with him as possible or will he go quietly? My money is on the former. Call an election hoping to win but knowing he'll lose, take down his backstabbers, leave Labour n charge with an utter pile of shit to try and sort out, and he swans off to the lecture circuit.

Yes OP! And.....Proroguing Parliament - illegal!!! He should've been booted out immediately!

Sickening of the Tory party. Lindsay Hoyle has given him too free a reign too.

2MinuteRice · 08/06/2022 20:48

@WaitroseWoman

The link you have provided are amazing and sums him up completely.
I'm so disappointed that he is still there, after emailing my conservative MP Hmm, but will be sharing your links far and wide.
I think sometimes people need to see the whole picture.
Which you have so kindly provided! Flowers

Because there is a very good chance that Johnson is going to start doing things which will bring mp’s and the electorate back to the Tory side

Quick, someone catch the pig that just flew past my window.

Actually I think they're right. The voters love the Tories for some unfathomable reason. It's like a cult.

Used to, have you seen the latest polls? And those were before Monday. I think the tide’s turned. Johnson might think he’s Canute and look what happened to him.

DuncinToffee · 08/06/2022 21:06

If you’re just getting going, we pulled together all the different ways Boris Johnson and his allies have argued his win in the vote of confidence is a chance to ‘draw a line’ and ‘get on with the job’.

The issue is, it's a greasy, Teflon-coated pig. But in my experience of swimming the channel and cooking - not at the same time - both grease and non-stick pan surfaces do eventually wear thin and then off. I hope we've reached that point.

I agree with this. I think the questions posed were a broad church, just like Mumsnetters and the general population. And Partygate's not over till the fat man is flung. not weightism but the best pun I could come up with on 'the fat lady sings,' sorry

It's simple in my book.

Regardless of party loyalties, every Johnson apologist has lost sight of values and standards that truly matter in our society.

If you have 'priced in' Boris's standards then you have accepted corruption as norm.

He is pervasively corrupt.

WaitroseWoman · 08/06/2022 21:59

That's it in a nutshell, @thistimelastweek - I didn't start this thread to bang the drum for any of BJ's fellow MPs as possible party leader replacements - that's for the Tories - or to bang the drum for Labour or anybody else. I'm sick of the sight and sound of Boris. He is an embarrassment to the UK and a liability for the UK. I now understand how my American friends, both Democrat and Republican, felt about having Trump represent and lead their country. I realise that someone's hair is one of the least important things when choosing a leader, but even BJ's hair is starting to look like Trump's, never mind his behaviour: lies, corruption, feathering his own nest, affair with Jennifer Arcuri and so on and so on.

The palace choosing Philippians for BJ to read from at the Jubilee Thanksgiving Service said it all really:
"Whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable … think about these things."

I saw it live, but can anyone link to the video of that?

My MP supported him. He was blabbing on about forgiveness but I'm sure he's been given some sort of sweetener for his betrayal of his country. What makes me laugh is how he keeps saying about needing to get on with the job when it's clear he's only thinking of saving his own skin.

Thanks for that link, @DuncinToffee

With BJ's appearance during his first interview after the vote of confidence result, and on the subject of all this 'drawing a line', I think it would be a good idea to introduce mandatory drug testing in the HoC.

Thank you for that link @Fere - I had heard that reports of his impending death were greatly exaggerated.

Doesn't surprise me, but it increases my irritation that at the time so many people were saying we should feel sorry for him having to do such a tough job when he was still recovering from his near-death experience.

Peregrina · 08/06/2022 23:36

is it just me who is irritated by the fact that people have to add “gate” after every bloody scenario?

It's like the Watergate scandal though. It wasn't the burglary itself which was the problem, but the lying to try to cover it up, missing tapes etc.
