Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

Hugh Grant: used to live round the corner so was always bumping into him. He was actually pretty friendly in the main but we got into a stand off in our cars (me in my shitty runaround and him in his Ferrari). He was in the wrong and expected me to move but I wouldn’t back down and switched engine off. We sat there glaring for 5 mins until he gave up and reversed.

Greg Wallace: pervert and a cokehead (might be totally nice when not coked up though I suppose)

Martine Mclutcheon: embarrassingly up herself. Always has to look around and speak loudly to make sure she’s been noticed.

MsDirection · 08/06/2022 09:13

George Clooney - hugely friendly, self-deprecating, goes out of his way to spend time and talk/take selfies with fans. Thoughtful and kind to press, crew, cast and out and about in restaurants etc. No idea if this is his real self or just his public self.

Ben Afflek same as George Clooney.

The late Jill Murphy. An absolute sweetheart and so unassuming and humble.

The late Robert Vaughn (The Man From UNCLE). Really rude to fans and totally disinterested, at a comic com signing autographs.

The late Rudolf Nureyev. Total narcissist, walked with his nose in the air with an ego the size of a planet, but hugely insecure, self-absorbed and totally fucked up.

Floogal · 08/06/2022 09:14

My dad and brother who were in the forces have met Jim Davidson and said he's actually friendly and courteous to service personnel. Apparently princess Anne was easy to get on with.

Myaibuname · 08/06/2022 09:15

I’ve met a few Welsh celebrities. Have done events with Wynne Evans (from the gocompare ads) several times and found him full of himself every time. His brother (also a singer) is really nice though.

Steve Speirs was really friendly.

Ruth Jones was nice but obviously really shy.

Not sure how famous he is outside of Wales (I’ll admit I didn’t know who he was at the time) but Roy Noble was lovely - offered me his chair and was really friendly.

A friend of mine used to work in a bar where some Game of Thrones fans would visit when filming in the area.
Kit Harrington was apparently really rude and an absolute prick to staff, but Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen and Iwan Rheon were all lovely.

Iwan Rheon’s mum goes to the same hair salon as me. I’ve never spoken to her but staff say she is lovely.

Enb76 · 08/06/2022 09:28

I came across Will Young arguing with a someone giving him a parking ticket using the immortal words ' don't you know who I am?'. I think he had recently won whatever talent show he was on. He was with one of the other contestants.

It made my day to be honest.

Long shot but has anyone met Tony

The Senior partner at my firm used to instruct him regularly when he was a barrister. He really liked him. He said he was always very ambitious.

I must say those who instructed Cherie Blair were never impressed by her (as a QC, she's probably a nice person).

Justwanttobebythesea · 08/06/2022 09:31

Ant (from Ant & Dec) is very lovely and friendly. He was on a dog walk with his new wife and I asked if my daughter could stroke their big brown dog (we didn't realise who it was at first as we asked his wife and he was a bit behind her). He was very chatty and talked all things dog with my daughter. Hurley the dog was very friendly too and enjoyed eating the blackberries we had picked.😂

Paul Daniels was a genuinely lovely man

Relative of mine lived next door to him. She wouldn’t agree.

I met his cat while visiting her and he was lovely, friendly sociable animal. Wanted to take him home with me.

oprahfan · 08/06/2022 09:32

Lesley Joseph. Moody. Unpleasant. I was working in a hotel she was staying in and she was waiting for the lift in a mahooosive fur coat and dark glasses. Saying how much she hated being in the place, the city, and couldn’t wait to leave. A gentleman came by and gave her a single rose, she didn’t acknowledge him, and dropped the rose on the floor as she got in the lift saying ‘what the hell am I supposed to do with that?!’.
Ben Fogle….the loveliest human being you could EVER wish to meet. Genuine.

Cilla….complete nightmare, very rude to all staff
Sarah Ferguson….chatty, funny, deffo bonkers
Jeremy Kyle….not even going to pass comment on him…..(knob)
Prince Charles……pleasant….humble….caring…..loves being in nature, and likes a slice of a very good fruit cake

Rod Stewart….funny…..pissed……a lot 😂
Alex Salmond..:not funny…..pissed….leery….not to be trusted when alone…..
Gregor Fisher aka Rab C. Nesbitt…..a great man, humble, funny, decent.
Billy Connolly……decent, human, funny
Alex Ferguson…..quite decent
Sam Fox….decent chatty and funny

Lordofmyflies · 08/06/2022 09:33

I met John Leslie in the late 90's in a bar in London. He was really creepy and letching. He invited himself back to my friend's house where we were staying for the night. Luckily we gave him the slip and we laughed about it at the time, but it was pretty horrible.
George Michael however was incredibly sweet and humble - a true gent.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 09:34

It was just about when we had camera phones but no one captured it. They just looked shocked and sped off. Can't remember which one was driving.

If it was a standard-spec UK car, it would have had to be Ant.

rosyvalentine · 08/06/2022 09:42

@ChrisReasBathEggs I think it was Andrew Garfield.

feelingpantstoday · 08/06/2022 09:43

Amy Winehouse was lovely but troubled (and tiny). She'd go vacant then suddenly snap back and compensate for the zoned out time with extreme kindness and intensity. 💐

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 09:46

I’m sure he’s perfectly nice - but just don’t mention The War/Standing Trial for War Crimes at The Hague. Such a shame he spoilt his legacy in such a tragic and bloody fashion.

Yes, I was thinking the same. A lot of the celebs we're talking about here come across as so nice on screen, but in real life, many people report them as being unpleasant; with Blair, it seems to be the opposite way around. Yes, he did a lot of good, politically; however....

One of my friends used to have Harold Shipman as his family GP and he was reportedly very competent and professional with a good bedside manner. I'm sure he must have genuinely helped countless people with his medical expertise and wise judgement over the years. Even the worst serial killers spend 99.99% of their lives not killing anybody - and many of them can be very charming.

To be honest, on balance, I'd rather have Phill Jupitus with his grumpy stand-offish manner in private, but who nevertheless has never (to the best of my knowledge) had hundreds of thousands of people demand that he be tried for horrendous war crimes.

MrsE · 08/06/2022 09:48

Michael Ball - absolutely lovely, no airs and graces
Bruce Willis and James McAvoy - both chatty and very nice (maybe because we were stuck in a lift so they had no other option!)

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 09:50

I think there's also a massive difference between celebs who are very introverted/reserved/quiet/just want to be left alone when not performing and those who actively make it a hobby of treating everybody they meet (apart from fellow stars of their level and above) like runny dog poo that they've just had to lick off the sole of their shoe.

Everydaydayisaschoolday · 08/06/2022 09:51

I passed Tamara Beckwith (former socialite, tv presenter, reality tv person) in the street yesterday. She caught my eye partly because she looked very glamorous but also because she looked familiar. She was the exact opposite to Phil Jupitus - she kept talking on her phone but gave me a lovely smile and mouthed Hi as we passed. It was only later I realised that she wasn't familiar from the gym/school run etc but because I've seen her in the media for 30 years. I thought that was a very classy way to behave. I like most celebs she is much taller in person than I expected.

My friend once saw Bob Geldof haggling in a charity shop.

Does not surprise me. His poor peaches no wonder she was so broken.

SurfBox · 08/06/2022 09:52

I said good morning to Tina Malone once and she looked at me like I wasn’t worthy to be speaking to her

In fairness she has alot of mental health issues like bipolar so she might have being unwell at the time.

CounsellorTroi · 08/06/2022 09:54

Margaret Thatcher was apparently very nice and kind on a one to one level and lovely to work for, but espoused a very selfish kind of politics.

Yea you could say the same thing about Jimmy Saville and all his charity work. 🙄

Ruth Jones was nice but obviously really shy.
**
I'd understand if Ruth were ever accused of being grouchy in public, because she must get fed up with "Alright Ness?" and "What's occurrin'?" on a daily basis!
