Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

OP posts:

Jim Davidson is a thoroughly unsavoury nasty I individual 😠😠If he was vile to an openly gay guy working in a hotel it wouldn't surprise me at all..he's just vile !He openly supports racist organisations is Britain First and has more of less done a one man campaign to get Gary Glitter out of jail ..in fact he had his boat moored close to that jail in Dorset so he could visit his paedophile pal..I have always thought his attitude towards women was sickening and very immature..only good thing I think these days her have to pay the audience himself just to get an audience😂😂

Makes sense that he’s popular in the forces.

Draws attention to herself at the expense of others.

Ever since I watched in horror as she recounted her anecdote on Graham Norton's show about the time when she encountered a tramp 'pleasuring' himself in a park/woods and she offered to finish him off - and went on to do so - I've always thought that there's something seriously off about her.

Why you would even do it in the first place, much less tell the whole world; and if it was made up, what must be going on in your head to even concoct something like that?

It takes a lot to shock and stun Graham, but she left him looking so nervous about what he could possibly say next.

Who is this referring to?

Sinthie · 08/06/2022 21:40

Shane Richie was in a nightclub I was at years ago- acting aloof. Wayne Sleep was lovely.

Basilbrushgotfat · 08/06/2022 21:41

@DontStopMeNow7 miriam margolyes

@Dragonsmother Lawrence LB?

Miriam Margolis (probably spelled wrongly

There is no evidence he was personally involved in the Saville decision. Boris Johnson made that up.

But hasn’t he got funny hair!

AsTreesWalking · 08/06/2022 21:46

I once shared a table at a 'do' with Clive Anderson and family. He was very nice, but almost too shy to say hello, and spent the meal interacting with his delightful daughters. His wife is a medic and very outgoing- we had a marvellous chat!
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman did a book launch for Good omens at the shop where I worked years ago. TP was in a foul mood and was really vile to the young woman from the publisher, and just rude to us booksellers. NG, however, was simply gorgeous and swoony...

Dragonsmother · 08/06/2022 21:53

It wasn’t. All I can say is he had a huge range in Debenhams. Housing, clothes etc

Picoloangel · 08/06/2022 21:53

Know of Kier Starmer through work and have never heard a bad word about him. Generally thought of as principled, bright and decent.

Stephen Fry used to have a place locally and would pop up at fetes and so on. All I’ve ever heard about him is that he was wonderful - polite, happy to give our prizes, chat to people etc. never heard a bad word about him.

lurchermummy · 08/06/2022 22:00

My DH saw Bill Nighy walking towards him at a London train station. DH made eye contact with him but didn't want to bother him. Bill however, realising he has been recognised, saluted DH and said loudly "greetings". I thought that was lovely.

Mamai90 · 08/06/2022 22:04

Van Morrison - Rude. Difficult to work with.

Eamonn Holmes- Miserable git. Nobody has a good word to say about him.

Daniel O'Donnell - Lovely. Absolute sweetheart.

I met Philip Schofield as a child when he used to do the broom cupboard, he was nothing like I expected. Just cold, I was a child and it really stood out to me that even greeting young children he acted like he didn't want to be there.

lurchermummy · 08/06/2022 22:05

Another one, took my DD to a local climbing centre many years ago. Mark Owen came in with his wife and daughter, he was lovely, very friendly and charming. We all pretended we didn't know who was until after he'd left and then we all screamed "that was Mark Owen!". My DDs claim to fame us that Mark Owen belayed her up a climbing wall. (He did have very scruffy shoes on)

I can never remember which of the Toms are Holland and Hollander and always have to peek at google images. Hollander is my favourite one though so I'm glad to see it's not him who's the brat.

It gets even more confusing than that, I'm afraid - don't forget Tom Hollandest!

😂😂😂

XelaM · 08/06/2022 22:10

A barrister I knew through work used to date Heike Makatsch when he was younger and she left him for Daniel Craig! True story. The barrister had an absolutely beautiful wife and two gorgeous kids, but he was telling me how Heike Makatsch broke his heart and he was definitely still pining over her. His actual wife was ten times prettier than Heike!

@Jellykat I can also vouch for Rik Mayall being a lovely chap. Back in the 90s I worked as a secretary for a Harley Street doctor who had many celebrity patients. Rik was a regular and one of the only ones who addressed me by my name and also always took the trouble to stop and pass the time of day rather than ignoring me (as some others did). I didn't judge the others (well I tried not to) as they were in a vulnerable position but I always had a soft spot for Rik and was so sad to hear that he had died.

My colleague is the biggest Rik fan and has a huge collection of everything pertaining to him. She entered a competition to have lunch with him but won second prize of some signed stuff. The first winner couldn't make it so he called her personally to ask if she would be able to make it instead. Considering she still tells this story to everybody almost 25 years later shows just how much it meant to her.

Doos81 · 08/06/2022 22:13

Holly Willoughby- met her with a friend who knows her well through work and she looked at me like I was dirt and barely acknowledged I was there- beyond rude.
In contrast, the same night, met Simon Cowell who was an absolute delight, generally lovely chat and not fake at all.

TarasHarp55 · 08/06/2022 22:14

It's sad that so many posts boil down to "X is a rude twat because s/he didn't greet me warmly in public." They're not at work; leave them alone. Such entitlement.

Well we all go to work, do we all switch off and become rude sods when we finish. 😣 Celebs being "at work" doesn't mean they suddenly become invisible when they aren't working. They have to expect that the public will be interested in them, they've chosen to put themselves in the spotlight, manners cost nothing.

Exactly. And where would their careers be without fans?

Seren1tynow · 08/06/2022 22:16

Gok Wan. Rude, nasty prick. Nothing like you’d expect from his TV persona. George Galloway was as horrendous as you’d imagine.

On the flipside, Lulu was lovely and the sweetest celebrity I’ve ever encountered was Gail Porter.

waterlego · 08/06/2022 22:17

Yes! She does make me laugh at times and she was very funny as Lady Whiteadder in Blackadder, but she often makes me cringe in interviews. Maybe I’m a prude but she talks about sex a lot and it’s just a bit much- a bit too crass for me and not really all that funny. She told a crude anecdote, also on Graham Norton, about a very, er, physical reaction she had to seeing Laurence Olivier coming out of a Stage Door when she was a young woman. It was too much information really.

waterlego · 08/06/2022 22:22

Can concur with Mark Williams. I met him in the Zap Club in Brighton in around 1997 and he was so fecking rude.

Aha! We were on the Brighton club scene around the same time 🙂 I met him and Steve Coogan in The Escape, also in the late 90s. They were almost certainly off their tits on coke.

Xtraincome · 08/06/2022 22:24

I do feel sorry for the celebrities who are accosted for photos by strangers then branded unkind, rude, arrogant. They owe the public nothing.

Met Paul McCartney when interviewing for a temp Nanny role- I didn't get the job- he was softly spoken, reserved, rather guarded I guess but pleasant enough
Jimmy Carr- shy, quiet, polite
Victoria Wood- Bubbly and fun

Fedupsotired · 08/06/2022 22:29

@travellinglighter I met Michael Owen and he was lovely! Spent time chatting to me and having his photo taken with me too!

Phillip Schofield an absolute arse.

Terry Butcher (footballer) so lovely and spent ages talking and asking my opinion on things.

highlandcoo · 08/06/2022 22:30

YY to Bill Nighy being completely lovely and charming. I went one better than your DH walking along Piccadilly and glanced up, saw Bill Nighy and sort of instinctively recognised him as someone I "knew" so exclaimed "Oh hi!" and then realised simultaneously I didn't really know him at all Blush as Bill Nighy said "Hi!" enthusiastically back.

Sheesh89 · 08/06/2022 22:30

Shared a cheeky smoke with George Michael many years ago. And he was incredible. Hilarious. Kind. Put me at ease when he could tell I was totally overwhelmed at finding myself next to George Michael.
