Worst celebrity you have ever met part 2

Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

Presumably Mark Owen didn't attempt to get off with you, then? He chose the fattie instead|? How very dare he!! Grin grin] He could probably tell by the vibes what a judgemental and unpleasant person you were.

That fattie was me. (I wish but my chunky teenage self is positively beside herself with happiness and pride)

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2022 17:17

@JauntyJinty - there was some laughter and gossip around this - sorry forgot to put this in, and basically he and some friends were overheard laughing afterwards and saying "oh you'll get off with anyone Mark won't you?".

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2022 17:18

@ShesAPeachSconeBob - I honestly didn't want to get off with anyone there as I was attached at the time, and Mark Owen has never done it for me.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 17:19

Why does it matter if he choses to get off with someone you don't find attractive?

That one had me scratching my head as well. How can it possibly make you a 'bad' or unpleasant celebrity, just because you're attracted to somebody whom other people don't find so attractive? If anything, it would go in his favour, as it suggests that he isn't just instantly seeking out the 'most beautiful' person whom he believes he somehow 'deserves' to have as a trophy, owing to his celebrity, but finding somebody he actually likes for who she really is.

I'm assuming the school was just used as a venue and that the potential dates/partners were also adults - or that this was a long time ago and Mark et al were themselves also still children/teenagers?!

AffIt · 08/06/2022 17:22

@Westover

Anyway, in equestrianism/eventing: Oli Townend. Can cut you dead and not respond to a greeting if he's not in the right mood, constantly scans the room for someone more interesting/richer to talk to and generally just a moody so and so. Considering he likes to emphasise how he didn't come from a rich or privileged background, he's remarkably disinterested in people from the same background.

I completely agree. I evented to a decent level (BE Intermediate) in the past, and met a lot of famous riders when they would take their young horses out at lower levels.

OT is a prick and is not well-liked on the scene at all, which, considering how generally friendly and nice eventing is, says a lot.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, William Fox-Pitt is utterly charming and lovely (as are his family and travelling staff: Jackie Potts is AMAZING and once lent me some plaiting thread - I felt quite star-struck!) and VERY handsome.

I also once accidentally bumped into Zara Phillips in a lorry park (like, LITERALLY bumped into her - I was carrying a pile of rugs and tack) and she was incredibly nice and friendly and helped me pick stuff up. I've met Princess Anne as well and, even though I am a die-hard republican, she and her family can stay. Grin

In other sports - Gregor Townsend (head rugby coach for Scotland) is an absolute delight. Very charming and friendly and has a very sharp and curious mind.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 17:22

That's a very strange and confusing way of setting the scene. You're perfectly at liberty to decline somebody's advances for any reason, though - you're a human being with full personal agency and not a product on a shop shelf.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2022 17:24

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll - I didn't think Mark was bad or rude - he was just quite nasty because of the way he went after someone who was in his eyes unattractive but because he could do it and she was available. We heard he'd corned her in a toilet cubicle and obviously had his way with her. Call me judgmental but that comes off as a bit sleazy to me. It was hardly out on the main dancefloor dancing cheek to cheek but in the toilets where he thought and knew he would not be seen. And then I overheard him laughing about it with his mates (not the rest of Take That).

The school was used as a venue and the potential daters were adults. But a few of them, including this woman, were staff members, so e.g. teachers, TAs, etc. In fact I also overheard the woman laughing about it herself, getting off with Mark.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 17:33

Fair enough, then @GonnaGetGoingReturns - that wasn't at all clear from what you write before, but in that case, I agree with you that he sounds very unpleasant.

I don't hold with the whole 'karma' thing at all, but if I did, I'd probably ascribe it to that 'interesting' gold suit that he (or his stylist) decided would be a fine, strong look for him in the ITV Jubilee street party programme Grin

Can concur that Toyah Wilcox was lovely very nice on the several occasions I've met her and very polite to waiting staff.

@MrsE You were stuck in a lift with Bruce Willis and James McAvoy?? faints

Gutted to hear that Bertie Carvel is a nasty creep :(

@Aiaichipsnpie not the sweet and seemingly innocent Tom Holland of Marvel fame?!

NigelWithTheBrie79 · 08/06/2022 17:39

I think had it been worded in a way that didn't denigrate the female he was kissing and it was made clear that he was doing it to be a misogynistic arsehole then the post in question wouldn't be attracting the scorn it has. (The Mark Owen degrading himself with chubby chasing activities)

Pagwatch · 08/06/2022 17:42

Im not sure it counts as having met him but i was sitting across the aisle from Neil Morrisey on a flight. He was loud, rude and constantly asking for more drinks. he had a loud conversation on the phone where he kept swearing and going on about wankers. i was sitting with my daughter and she was torn between being fascinated and alarmed.

When we got off the plane he fell down the stairs into baggage reclaim then had the biggest tantrum Ive ever seen from an adult. he was on the phone shouting that it was fucking outrageous that his car wasnt there, lost his temper and aimed as huge kick at his bag, missed slipped and landed flat on his back. we literally all stopped and watched - a whole crowd of us

amazing stuff

SabrePrattler · 08/06/2022 17:45

I can never remember which of the Toms are Holland and Hollander and always have to peek at google images. Hollander is my favourite one though so I'm glad to see it's not him who's the brat.

This is hilarious 😂 and definitely counts!

It gets even more confusing than that, I'm afraid - don't forget Tom Hollandest!

originaldomesticgodess · 08/06/2022 17:58

Norman Wisdom. Rude, obnoxious arse. Turned it on when on stage but off stage he was horrible.

TheseAreMyGoodPants · 08/06/2022 17:59

Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale). Incredibly rude and standoffish.

Nicest celeb? I've not met many but Gordon Ramsay! Was actually quite soft spoken and very warm and friendly. His wife was lovely too.

everythingcrossed · 08/06/2022 18:01

It sounds as if Neil Morrissey was quite drunk on the day you met him Sad. I met him professionally some years ago and was very impressed (I wasn't a fan prior to that). His back story is very moving.

TheseAreMyGoodPants · 08/06/2022 18:03

Also, not me but my mum met Stephen Hawking a few times (she worked at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and he was a frequent visitor). Thoroughly unpleasant individual, apparently. Very rude and arrogant.

CulturePigeon · 08/06/2022 18:06

@yellowbananasinjuly - no, her name doesn't rhyme with that. I'm sorry - I know it's annoying, but I just don't want to say who it is directly. I used to sit near her for English and Geography A level (that's not going to help you though - sorry!). She's still with us (so NOT Victoria Wood!!) and I will admit she's very clever, funny and successful but she was very borderline psychopathic at school and really enjoyed making people squirm. I suspect this quality has helped in her line of work! Very snobbish too.

The worrying thing is, whenever I see her interviewed or read about her, she comes over as warm and empathetic, which makes me realise how wrong our impressions can be. Yes, of course she will have matured and become a nicer person, but I still would cross the street if i saw her coming!

Passthebubbly · 08/06/2022 18:08

Ex airport worker so met a few in my time. By far the nicest was Nicole Kidman, so lovely and friendly. Robbie Williams was quiet but pleasant. Ronnie Corbett awful little man so rude. Princess Anne very friendly. Oh and al murray was an absolute delight

Funnily enough, that doesn't surprise me. I read (in a newspaper, years ago) he treated his first wife pretty badly too before they divorced.

cottagegardenflower · 08/06/2022 18:12

Jane Torville and Christopher Dean are both lovely, and down to earth. Was only chatting to CD a few weeks ago, and still super nice

My grandmother met Daphne Du Maurier and said she was an utter stuck up cow.

Jim Davison. Nasty, racist little twat. His luxury cruiser just burnt down in Torquay Marina. Oh dear (was prob an insurance job).

No way?? Was that his? I'm local to the area and it was huge news!

DontCallMeBaby · 08/06/2022 18:18

autocollantes · 08/06/2022 05:47

Nelsen Mandela. Not a celebrity exactly but very famous. He was lovely. I was in a very low level job and his security team held me up for a while (I didn't know who they were security for). By the time Mandela arrived, I wasn't paying attention anymore, was needing to get on. His security formed a wall with backs to me so I couldn't really see anyway.

Mandela saw me standing there (I guess, as I wasn't paying attention) and asked them to move. He came over to me and shook my hand and apologised for holding me up and thanked me. Absolutely, totally unnecessary - and definitely not like anybody else who was well known there - which made it all the more generous.

He was well known for wanting to talk to EVERYONE. He visited a place where I worked at the time, we found out this quirk of his, so managed to lurk around as he came in - sure enough, he came over and said hello, and asked (asked!) if he could shake our hands. Even my horrible boss was utterly spellbound.
