To ask how you wash your knickers?

Not the poo troll 😄💩

I have always washed mine on 40 with a general load (trousers, t-shirts etc).

I want to start washing my clothes at 30 to see if it keeps them looking newer for longer, but I’m not comfortable washing knickers and socks at that temperature.

I’ve had an initial investigate, but the jury seems to be out. Some say 30 is fine, some say 60 and others say you need to add a disinfectant.

I’m now not sure if I should have even been washing them with my other clothes at all!

What to do!?

I'm passing on what I was told by a professional.

Well sure, but I wouldn't say GPs are the totems of knowledge on an issue like this. Are countries where everyone washes in cold teeming with Thrush? That would be evidence.

dizzydizzydizzy · 08/06/2022 19:32

@TheKeatingFive I've no idea about other countries. She was essentially giving me scientific info..... ie kill the fungal spores with heat and UV.

TheKeatingFive · 08/06/2022 19:41

I've no idea about other countries.

If her theory is correct, you'd expect to see huge disparities between countries with cold washing versus hot, no? You'd think the medical establishment in those countries would have copped on if that made a major difference.

dizzydizzydizzy · 08/06/2022 19:46

As I said..... no idea what is happening in other countries....

Have they done any large scale studies comparing the washing methods across countries? That’ll give you your evidence.

Either way, it doesn’t matter - if it works for one poster then great.

I doubt they have, but given that there are countries where cold washing is the norm, you'd think the difference would be immediately apparent if it made a significant difference to thrush rates.

Obviously the PP can knock herself out and do what she wants.

SirChenjins · 08/06/2022 20:51

Why would it be “immediately apparent “? Unless there’s been a range of RCTs and SRs looking at this issue, of course.

Yeah, she can - and it obviously works which is brilliant. Might do the same for another thrush sufferer, who knows.

TheKeatingFive · 08/06/2022 20:59

Why would it be “immediately apparent “?

Well you'd think countries with high thrush rates might be interested in what makes them different to countries with low thrush rates. Anyone actually investigating this would be likely to identify this as an obvious difference.

SirChenjins · 08/06/2022 22:02

I’m sure if it ever becomes a real area of interest they will.

babyjellyfish · 08/06/2022 22:10

In the machine, with everything else, at 30 degrees.

I cannot imagine why it would be necessary to do anything more than that unless you are having accidents or not wiping your bum thoroughly enough.
