To object to my manager arriving at my house

My line manager turned up at my house at 14:00 today. Rang the doorbell - I didn’t answer because I wasn’t expecting a delivery. I live in the middle of nowhere, I don’t get random callers. I don’t lock my back door. Next thing I know, my manager is in my house. “Just checking”. Apparently I sounded a bit weird in the team meeting this morning. Which is odd, as I didn’t actually speak in the team meeting. Am I BUR to find this completely inappropriate? She is a lovely person and I have had some mental health issues in the past. For which she has been very supportive. But this was one day - half a day, when I wasn’t present at work. She let herself in.. next thing I knew, she was in my sitting room. It was a bit scary :(

As OP has confirmed she has a manager, I find it difficult to believe that a member of staff does not report their decision to "take the afternoon off" to them. Surely you can see that this would be part of a managers remit. I find it very difficult to believe that you know so many people that could just pop out for a few hours. 🤔😂

I have a manager. I am also very high up in the organisation (not that that is directly relevant).

It wouldn’t even occur to me to tell my manager if I was taking an afternoon off, either as leave or as flexible working, and I would probably need to be missing for well over a week before my manager would notice or care.

I think in most jobs people have to ask for time off, or say they're ill or whatever. Just not doing their job for an afternoon wouldn't go down well with their boss at all.

Christ why didn't your manager just pick up the phone or pop a text message highly inappropriate just walking into your house and overstepping the mark.. I can't believe some people think this is acceptable

I agree, but not the case in mine, or in OP’s it would seem.

If she genuinely thought your life was in danger it’s brilliant.( you would have given her good reason to believe this). Anything else then no right whatsoever to be there. End of.

fwiw I think since the pandemic everyone’s gone a bit hypervigilant and boundaries have be some blurred. But her behaviour was not appropriate.
