Spineless MPs….then he’ll limp along doing even more attention seeking stunts.

At this rate they'll be losing their deposits in the by-elections. Most pundits say he's toast. I'm quite happy to sit back and watch the Tories slowly exsanguinate.
A good day for Labour.
So who will be the first Cabinet Minister to resign after 'wrestling with their conscience'.

Blossomtoes · 06/06/2022 21:43

Wonderful word choice @WorriedMutha. Exsanguinate will be borrowed. The Cabinet must be having a collective conniption tonight. I fear for Carrie.

MarshaBradyo · 06/06/2022 21:44

Safe, for now

see what happens next

snap election doesn’t sound likely

carefullycourageous · 06/06/2022 21:44

I also think 'exsanguinate' is an excellent word choice.

I wonder if we’ll get told who voted how?

I don’t think we will - I’ve always heard it’s a secret ballot.

PestorPeston · 06/06/2022 21:46

I guess with the precedent of the Depp - Heard trial this will be a long and painful death

Hawkins001 · 06/06/2022 21:48

Boris has won, most excellent

Ds reports Johnson "looking deranged" in tv interview. And speculated that the pm may have availed himself of a certain stimulant just prior

grapewines · 06/06/2022 21:50

Looking on from outside the UK it is fucking unbelievable what this man gets away with. Honestly.

Peregrina · 06/06/2022 21:54

None of them, because they don't have consciences to wrestle with.

I thought he looked very flushed/sweaty and his skin was blotchy.

Why do you celebrate the British public and monarchy being constantly lied to?

Do you also support the right of a husband to beat his wife?

To me he just looked very stressed, but trying to cover it up.

Peregrina · 06/06/2022 21:58

Maybe not excellent but many of us think it good, because he can't help himself, he will continue to blag it, and continue to make a mess. Maybe the rebels will start to vote against him now; they have nothing much to lose.

He has vaccine rollouts to boast about, but that's wearing thin now. He's trying to big up his role in Ukraine but really he's a side show there. Two by-elections to come, one of which he is almost certain to lose.

BorisJohnsonatemyhampster · 06/06/2022 22:01

‘So who will be the first Cabinet Minister to resign after 'wrestling with their conscience'.

None of them. None of the current cabinet have a chance of getting another cabinet position under a new leader. In fact I predict the corruption and rule breaking will get worse as they all try to trouser as much cash as possible before the next General Election.

Also Boris is a wounded animal and will become very unpredictable. He’ll either go completely missing or will pop up now and again to announce he’ll bring back hanging or give every DM reader £1k. Tory HQ bogs will be full of coke residue and empty wine bottles. It will be like the last days of Rome. Nothing is off the table with this regime.

ChrisReasBathEggs · 06/06/2022 22:11

Is it weird to feel relieved even though I hate Johnson and everything this party stand for? I get the feeling it's death by a thousand papercuts now instead. My worst fear was someone would come in and fool people enough to get the next election won. I'd rather finish the Tories and not just Johnson, which if he lost today might have been the case.

ChrisReasBathEggs · 06/06/2022 22:19

Bumpsadaisie · 06/06/2022 21:07

They're just playing a long game aren't they - letting him take the fail at the next GE - and saving any fresh new leader to fight the GE following that.

We are about to go into quite a shitty recession now with a possible housing market stagnation/crash. It is an economic crash which usually finishes a leading party. I expect some people might have preffered him to take the fall for that.

PestorPeston · 06/06/2022 22:51

Sniff, he seems to have found today a little overwhelming

It's considered by Machiavelli to be considered unpredictable, can be a useful tactic for ruling.

Why do you celebrate the British public and monarchy being constantly lied to?

Because if the public knew the whole truth about various events, and historical events, could they really handle the truth, or even respond in a rational manner ?

Machiavelli - who wrote a book called the prince, also advocated as a tatic, that sometimes it's better to be seen as unpredictable to your opponents.

tobee · 06/06/2022 23:42

Yes I know who Machiavelli was. Hmm

That's not the bit I'm having difficulty comprehending
