I know, I know. Born into a life of privelage blah, blah, blah.. But it isn't a life they ask for.

Personally I think the children in the royal family should be kept out of the spotlight until they're adults and can decide what they want to do. They should just be kids until then. Maybe with the odd photo released with granny or whatever.
I can see history repeating itself with the 'rebel prince' that his uncle went through........I cant help but wonder what the hell his parents are thinking allowing this. 😳 It didnt work out well for Harry who was used to deflect attention away from the shit his brother was getting up to for years 😬

Well yeeeess but maybe if he was a lovely white British child and properly fit to be in the wonderful and amazing and fantastic and beautiful royal family, and not the spawn of that mixed race devil woman who tried to climb out of her proper place he’d be an adorable little ‘cheeky chappie.’

Any more for your ridiculous bingo card?

If Harry and Meghan had published one picture of their new baby with her big brother the public would have said Ahh, how lovely. Instead their whole lives, the four of them, seem to operate on a pay per view, no doubt their paymasters at Netflix will be abl e to demand access. The way they have decided to live, leaving the working Royals role, making their own money means they need public interest otherwise what are they? An ex-Royal and a b-list cable actress.

Always feels they are laughing at George ! Zara was poking a flag into his ear at one point during the pageant, poor little guy.

And George laughingly reciprocated! There was plenty of interaction between William's children and Zara and Peter's children, they clearly are very used to each other's company.

The entire royal family is dependent on the public attention to facilitate their ridiculous lives! It’s despicable. They ALL operate on a pay per view and it’s the people who pay and view that bankroll it.

And as for ‘working Royals’ that’s a bit like saying ‘polite GP receptionist.’

🤔 I don't think the jobs are comparable? Doubt the Royals get the direct level of abuse and swearing a GP receptionist gets?

Maybe not. But my point was it’s an oxymoron. Although I’m aware it’s a slight generalisation as I have met polite GP receptionists. Yet to see a royal I’d really consider as ‘working’ though. I scorn the whole institution though so there’s that.

Exactly their "work" is appearing in public doing things opening stuff raising awareness of stuff. Making small talk with strangers at garden parties and the rest.
The Queen (probably Charles now) has a 121 with the PM weekly. They can ask questions that nobody else can.

Everyone has heard of the WWF and we all appreciate that looking after wild animals and endangered animals is important. Prince Philip was the man behind setting it up. If it wasn't a royal who would have been able to do that?

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 06/06/2022 12:18

I agree that I feel more sorry for the kids of Instagram families.

At least with the royal kids there is some semblance of regulation of how much of their lives are public.

Lots of hardworking and sensible people set up charities? And I’m sure Prince Philip wasn’t the only person to point out the issues with animal endangerment. Overall I wouldn’t really applaud the royal family for being so amazing at looking after endangered animals just because they told all us little people to turn the lights off while living in palaces and flying in private jets. I mean it was certainly never the poor who were out shooting tigers, was it? That was rather an aristocratic pastime actually.

And as for ‘making small talk at garden parties’ they’ve really done a number on you if they’ve made you believe that’s work.

Kanaloa · 06/06/2022 13:57

So to answer your question ‘if it wasn’t a royal who would do it’ well someone else would! Don’t fall into the trap they try to set of thinking they’re actually important or necessary. They’re not. They just like to try to make people think they are because if we all realised they were unimportant and unnecessary we might start saying things like ‘hang on a bit - why are we paying any attention to these out of touch halfwits? Why are we helping them live this silly lifestyle they live?’

Dinoteeth · 06/06/2022 14:04

The first one is maybe fun and exciting but you can guarantee that it's as tedious as being a checkout operator. Hello how are you, have a good day. And appear interested in the people and mingle with as many as possible.

I'd bet they'd rather be having a bbq with pals.

@Tollystar exactly! I’d have been sweating bullets knowing god knows how many billion would see how I dealt with a bored and (slightly) cheeky 4 year old!

@PinkScrunchie your kids must be angels who never put a foot out of line!

It was a massive event relating to their own family and their very existence.

The RF have decades of experience in how to groom the royal children to take on roles as senior Royals. Trooping the colour and going to Church at Christmas are the few events that the children will attend annually the parade today was a one off.

The Queen & Margaret did their first radio broadcast at just 14 & 12.

I heard that radio broadcast recently as part of the jubilee celebrations. What amazed me most was how young she sounded (and looked, from the accompanying photos) and how she treated Margaret like a toddler. She actually says 'Come on, Margaret ... Good night, children' in such a patronising tone. If the older dc tried that on my 12 year old now she wouldn't be at all impressed at being treated like she was 3! It's amazing how much younger children are developping over just 80 years.

But there were pictures of them together (polo match) and open speculation in the press. Everyone knew. There is nothing like that with William, it’s just a few whisperings by arbs on the internet. If there was a juicy story, it would be used, no matter what the relationship was like between the press and the particular royal, they love scandals it sells.

Also, there was clearly trouble in Charles and Diana’s relationship, can’t see any unhappiness in William and Kate’s.

Charles and Di was more or less an arranged marriage. Encouraged by both families for the wrong reasons from the start.

The RF learned from those mistakes gave W&K time to get to know one another and be sure it's what they wanted. They did the same for Harry no pressure. He had a couple of long term girlfriends before meeting Megan.

Brefugee · 06/06/2022 20:43

Three of the Queen's four kids seem to be pretty messed up in various ways and her sister (forget the name) had a pretty grim life.

Haha, you mean Margaret? Who lived the life of riley, although she really would have preferred to be queen, and was incredibly snobbish and made people stick to rigid protocol around her. That one?

The Queen (probably Charles now) has a 121 with the PM weekly. They can ask questions that nobody else can.

such a bloody shame that in a democracy this happens. And that we are never allowed to know what they discuss. It's actually quite outrageous. What on earth is the point?

I wholeheartedly agree op. Already they are wheeling out the rhetoric of him being the cheeky chappy brother compared to George who is derived as 'shy' and more solemn. He's a kid, he wasn't doing anything my 4 year old wouldn't have, mine probably would have been running about down the aisle as he wouldn't be able to sit for more than two to three hours. Having said that I would have told mine off for putting his hands over my mouth but she is on the world stage so I appreciate it would have been harder.

One of Harry's biggest peeves if you read or watch his interviews was that what he got up to was allowed to be released by the press and often was a way to deflect attention off of his brother who was doing much the same in terms of partying. He got labelled the 'party' prince because that's what was shown in the media but his brothers image was and has always been more protected. I would hope the Duke of Duchess of Cambridge will learn from past mistakes when it comes to their children and how to deal with the issue of the 'heir' and 'spares' so to speak by making all their kids feel valued but only time will tell.
