Who made the decision to hire so many American performers and novices?

Andrea Bocelli was fantastic, but aren't there excellent British opera singers who could have participated e.g. Russell Watson?

What was the criteria for inclusion, who set it and why?

It's been widely reported that Rod Stewart was TOLD to sing Sweet Caroline by the organisers. Sad

Yes - didn't he mutter something to that effect just before the song?

how amazing was Sam Ryder, he was the highlight for me

Yes, he has a very powerful voice, sings amazingly and is pleasing to look at.

But he should ditch that strange high pitch sound he makes. I get 'dolphin in pain' vibes and spoils the whole performance. It's very distracting

As far as I've seen reported, the acts were, on the whole, people the Royals actually like.

So I'm very grateful for the lack of Paul McCartney and Cliff (who can't sing any more) Katherine Jenkins and Shirley Bassey.

Bit surprised Tom Jones wasn't there though

I just thought we must have more home grown acts. What was Diana Ross all about she's American. I liked Paddington and the Queen and the laser light show was fantastic but every thing else was just ok. They could have done much better.

Can't please all of the people all of the time

I suspect he would have turned it down but Paul Weller giving a rousing rendition of That's Entertainment would have been a good finish to the evening.

Folk bands. How about Show of Hands, they're crowdpleasers.
