Queens Jubilee Concert - What a Wonderful World.

I mean, that's supposed to be a happy soulful song. She shouted it and didn't smile once. Such a shame

I work in that industry and she was truly flat, awful - but it may be she was chronically nervous- however the trio doing 'climb very mountain ' totally took the biscuit in true awfulness. The star of the show was Paddington and the lighting /effects- well done production team - , I thought Prince William spoke very well too

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 04/06/2022 23:40

Did anyone see John Newmans performance near the beginning? I couldn't tell if he was extremely nervous or just completely offhis head, but I thought he was going to keel over at one point!

THEDEACON · 04/06/2022 23:40

Celeste was awful flat tuneless soulless and with zero performance skill Rod needs to retire Andrea Bocelli was incredible

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 04/06/2022 23:42

The Climb Every Mountain thing was weird because you couldn't see who was actually singing. I couldn't believe it when the camera finally closed in for about 2 seconds and it was none other than Nicola Roberts! She did have a couple of dud notes to start but overall her voice was amazing!

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 04/06/2022 23:43

Rod Stewarts 3 blonde bombshell backing singers was so dated!

TheMooch · 04/06/2022 23:43

I think Celeste will have had a good sob after that performance. Either nerves or soundpiece not working.

Reiningitin · 04/06/2022 23:43

I was more bothered about the appalling grammar in the projection of Elton John's lyrics onto BP "......how wonderful life is while your in the world."🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh really? No way! I didn't actually notice but that is pretty awful!

Arnaquer · 04/06/2022 23:53

She did look terribly nervous but I thought she did ok
Nicola Roberts wa flat as a pancake in that awful climb every mountain, Mica Paris did her best to keep it going.
Duran Duran stole the show for me

marblemad · 04/06/2022 23:56

In our household we were quite disappointed by the entire show, they didn't really have truly british or great acts, no elton in person and no paul mccartney?? They absolutely should have finished with the proclaimers or madness aswell

Glad it wasn't just me🤣
Pretty shabby that one got through

Shortbread49 · 04/06/2022 23:57

She was very out if tune I can sing better then that 😀Duran Duran we’re pretty poor too but Sam Ryder , Elbow and the Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals section were great

lborgia · 04/06/2022 23:59

I admit to not having heard of Celeste till now. I've just listened to a clip of her performance and, not being able to see her properly, I've only got her voice to go by, and she sounds absolutely terrified. Poor girl.

If she was as frightened as she sounded, she'll never sing again after the reaction to this performance!

Nolongerteaching · 04/06/2022 23:59

Hang in @LaurieFairyCake sweet Caroline is the Queen’s favourite song?

@Lysianthus
Diana singing about a b* job? What did I miss?

SmiledWtherisingsun · 05/06/2022 00:02

Lysianthus · 04/06/2022 22:57

Probably a bit 'out there' but Diana singing about a blow job is wrong on all levels. We thought that in the 80s, it was a bit cringe then. Bit for the jubilee? Wow.

🙈🤣

MarieKlepto · 05/06/2022 00:14

I had to switch over. It was just plain odd. There was no strong curation of acts, it felt more like "we need volunteers for the school trip". Maybe some sort of UK and Commonwealth performers bill from throughout the years (ok, prob not from 70 years ago but you get my drift). A few collaborations that were a bit off the wall like Take That with Stormzy or JLS with Kate Tempest. I just got as bored as Prince George!

It was a fantastic cover, she has an amazing voice... If not smiling during belting out that sing is an issue then.. Pffft.. That song, accompanied by Hans Zimmer was awesome with the light show. It was moving and addressed the environmental issues HM and Prince Philip and Prince Charles have close to their hearts... I thought the tone was perfect, we have a wonderful world and it is in danger.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber was also fantastic...

Better than Rod half a song then someone else's song Stewart, and other pap..

I agree . It was an interpretation.

whimsicalwillow · 05/06/2022 00:28

Rod Stewart has the wrong voice to be singing Sweet Caroline. You need someone who has a strong voice. What did he mutter before singing it? Something about the BBC?
I heard him interviewed a couple of days ago and he said he was going to be singing a song he'd never sung before and hadn't been able to practice much. Disappointed with his performance though. He only seemed to sing half the first song and left his backing singers to finish it.
Loved Diversity, the guy who did the rap about sport ,Elbow and Alicia Keys.
Thought Diana Ross looked and sounded fab. I can't believe she's 78!

sammyjoanne · 05/06/2022 00:29

Loved pretty much all of it, but Diana Ross was too flat and quiet and some was lipsynced. Rod stewart sounded frail.

How come Adele wasn't there actually? She must have turned it down? She didn't feature on the 'Thank You' bit either...

I've read she suffers from horrendous stage fright, she also has a habit of cancelling at the 11th hour.....maybe they couldn't risk it?

QueenBodicea · 05/06/2022 00:34

Who was the guy who did the rap about sport? He was great.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/06/2022 00:39

Doc Brown. He’s great, actually does a lot of comedy.

BilboBagBin · 05/06/2022 00:46

Sour grapes. She was amazing, and I say that as someone who had never heard of her until tonight and hates modern music.

BeaLola · 05/06/2022 00:54

We enjoyed it (apart from Celeste and Climb every mountain although lights etc for that were fab)

I was thinking how about (in no particular order) and perhaps could have had a supergroup ensemble at end of a few of them ?

Tom Jones
Geoff Lynne
Bryan Adams
Paul McCartney
The Rilling Stones
Proclaimers
Spice Girls
Take That
Madness
Jools Holland
Ed Sheeran

Diana Ross is amazing for her age but thought her overall & the songs a strange choice

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 05/06/2022 01:01

Am I too young or too old to not know who the fuck Celeste is?
