Queens Jubilee Concert - What a Wonderful World.

I mean, that's supposed to be a happy soulful song. She shouted it and didn't smile once. Such a shame

it wasn’t a good version but I really felt for her, she looked very nervous and the sound was a bit dodgy throughout the whole concert. She may not have been able to hear herself or the orchestra properly. No excuse for Rod’s dire performance though. His voice went years ago, wish he’d accept it and spend his days playing with his trains!

Ballsaque · 04/06/2022 23:03

Celeste was even more dreadful than usual.

out of tune, and you can never ever tell what words she’s singing as she has zero diction.

Probably a bit 'out there' but Diana singing about a blow job is wrong on all levels. We thought that in the 80s, it was a bit cringe then. Bit for the jubilee? Wow.

I'm intrigued! What song is this?

BelleTheBananas · 04/06/2022 23:05

@Lysianthus

Chain Reaction is about multipolar female orgasms, not blow jobs Grin

BelleTheBananas · 04/06/2022 23:05

*multiple

LoveLarry · 04/06/2022 23:07

Never heard or her before tonight but my god she was awful

I would have done better and I'm tone deaf

StepAwayFromGoogling · 04/06/2022 23:08

I'm sorry, Chain Reaction is about multiple female orgasms?!

BelleTheBananas · 04/06/2022 23:11

‘You make me tremble when your hand moves lower
You taste a little then you swallow slower
Nature has a way of yielding treasure
Pleasure made for you, oh

…

Get in the middle of a chain reaction
You get a medal when you're lost in action
I want to get your love all ready for the sweet sensation
Instant radiation
You let me hold you for the first explosion
We get a picture of our love in motion
My arms will cover, my lips will smother you
With no more left to say’

Yes, it’s about multiple orgasms Grin female ones

partystress · 04/06/2022 23:12

i expected to hate Celeste singing it, because it is so iconic and she is so ‘cursive’, but actually, I thought her version was great, and the more melancholy mood fitted the environmental message really well.

BelleTheBananas · 04/06/2022 23:12

Barry Gibb actually did a good job of writing about it from a female perspective, good job! Grin

EmmaH2022 · 04/06/2022 23:14

I wondered if something was wrong with her mic. She looked worried too.

caz123456 · 04/06/2022 23:17

We all thought Diana's microphone wasn't right - it just seemed so quiet. Loved the whole show though

Willyoujustbequiet · 04/06/2022 23:19

She was absolutely dreadful and had a face like a slapped arse.

Surely they could have picked someone better - anyone better.

GreenTeaPingPong · 04/06/2022 23:21

Celeste is really good on her own records, but I thought she seemed nervous and agree she possibly couldn't hear herself (thought the same about Alisha Keys in the first song she did, that she possibly couldn't hear herself, as she seemed a little off, but improved hugely for Empire State of Mind). I imagine that the arrangement of the song was done by Hans Zimmer and it was actually very difficult to sing, especially as the original was written in the wrong key for female voice. I feel for her really.

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 04/06/2022 23:21

I couldn't tell if she was just really nervous and worried she was going to shit herself in stage or something, or if the miserable performance was supposed to be making some sort of ironic point?

EmmaH2022 · 04/06/2022 23:22

Yes and then I think they adjusted it for the second song? Did anyone else think that?

WildHorsesRunInMe · 04/06/2022 23:22

I noticed something off with her in the interview she done earlier on. I think possibly bad nerves

I'm traumatised. But will stop derailing the thread.

WisteriaLodge · 04/06/2022 23:24

Yep awful...DH and I were saying it's a shame it wasn't Adele or someone who could do it justice for such a moment..

Highlyquestionablehoumous · 04/06/2022 23:27

How come Adele wasn't there actually? She must have turned it down? She didn't feature on the 'Thank You' bit either...

Chooksnroses · 04/06/2022 23:27

I thought that Queen and Diana Ross were the only bright spots in a dire evening. No wonder Prince George looked so bored!

TheJubileeLion · 04/06/2022 23:28

I thought Tom Jones could have made a decent job of that, or Robert Plant - a powerful delivery but with some of the melancholy ragged edges of a long life lived, etc.

sandgrown · 04/06/2022 23:29

I like Celeste and enjoyed her performance. It’s is just get style . As I mentioned in another thread . I have seen Adam Lambert with Queen twice and he was fab. He does not try to be Freddie Mercury but performs in his own style .

DoubleShotEspresso · 04/06/2022 23:30

I really liked it?! Just thought she did things her own way? Each to their own...

Hated the Rod Stewart set and thought it was hideously dated and he struggled with the vocals...

Didn't love the ALW set aside from the Hamilton bit which was superb.

Thought overall it was a great concert and thought Diversity and Doc Brown excelled themselves.

whynotwhatknot · 04/06/2022 23:35

she wasnt good looked terrifed

i also wasn impressed with diana ross and thought there should have been a finale of brits surprised tom jones wasnt there
