Dad in women's loo .

1000 replies

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 14:02

I have been to the loo in Mc Donald's and was mid flow when a dad walks in with his daughters aged about 4 and 6.He stands waiting while his daughters are using the toilet. I came out and said you are not supposed to be in here.
He said he had to take his daughters to the loo and I told him that he needed to either wait outside or take them the mens. He said they don't need to see that and I told him that he shouldn't be hanging round in women's toilets for any reason. His sense of entitlement gave me the rage so I told a member of staff. I can only imagine how triggering that could be for some women. Intrusive fucker.

I've been a toilet cleaner and actually it's pretty rare to catch a glimpse of dick in the mens unless it's a known cottaging spot.

DdraigGoch · 04/06/2022 20:23

I disagree completely that he should have taken them into the mens room because mens rooms have urinals so little girls would be seeing mens penises.

No they wouldn't. Men using a urinal stand with their back to the room. You'd have to be really trying to look to see anything.

XenoBitch · 04/06/2022 19:38

This is tricky.

Man takes small daughters into the ladies... gets crucified.
Man takes small daughters into the mens... they might see penis (my dad used to take me swimming, took me into the men's changing rooms. I saw far too many penises as a child). Gets crucified.
Man takes daughters into a disabled/unisex loo, gets crucified.

What is the father to small girls meant to do?

The same as a mother of small boys does. Who may see undressed female bodies in the women's changing-room. If it is inappropriate for young girls to see male bodies, why is it any more appropriate for young boys to see female bodies?

Weird double standard.

Yes, it is seen to be ok for small children to see naked women, but not men.

I am 57 and have never seen an undressed woman in a public toilet!

Oh have we? Maybe don’t be as presumptuous to think you speak for all women when multiple on this thread have told you they have no issue with a dad helping his young child.

Again, you seem to not understand safeguarding.
Protocols are not based on the comfort of those who consider themselves the least vulnerable or those who do not have a problem with that particular area of safeguarding.

This. Don't anyone speak for me on here. I have no problem whatsoever with a dad taking his 2 daughters into the ladies loos.

Beautifulmonster87 · 04/06/2022 20:04

Oh ffs get a grip. Why do some people assume all men are a risk and assume they must be up to no good?! He was keeping his children safe and understandably didn’t want to subject them to penises in full sight. You know why he was in there so why make a big deal out of it?

This. ^ This is one the worst, most despicable threads I have ever seen on mumsnet. Never seen so much man-hating on one thread before. So depressing. Sad

TwoDrifters2 · 04/06/2022 20:36

@daretodenim I am so glad I am not the only person who was reading this thread in despair that we all just seemingly agree and accept that men’s bathrooms will be a disgusting state.

I have no idea why that should be so - I know it often is but don’t understand why - since men surely have the more easy-to-aim genitalia?!

TwoDrifters2 · 04/06/2022 20:38

(And yes I know this thread is about bigger issues than hygiene, but it’s a very depressing read, for several reasons).

Give over! I have not read any 'man-hating' on here. Just women explaining to the Mens Rights Activists or handmaidens that women DESERVE the right to feel safe and that safeguarding and risk management is absolutely non-negotiable. A stable, rational, mature, level-headed person should have no problems understanding that concept. Sorry if women being safe upsets you. I think I've seen more women-hating on this thread than anything else.

No, but presumably you have in changing-rooms.

And if it's not OK for small girls to potentially catch a glimpse of men very partially undressed in toilets, then presumably mens' changing-rooms are beyond the pale ? So men are entitled to barge into women's changing-rooms to spare their DDs the horror of seeing naked males?

Meanwhile small boys are just expected to cope with changing amongst adult females. Rather than their female carers crashing the male changing-rooms and embarrassing adult men.

Very odd point of view.

Hesma · 04/06/2022 20:42

Your overreacting

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 20:42

In my 43 years I have never once seen a woman wash their bloody knickers in a public loo sink. That's fucking gross and way more inappropriate than a dad accompanying his 2 little girls to the toilet

I’m 25 years older than you and I haven’t either. It’s repulsive.

I fully understand safeguarding and thankfully protocols aren’t made by those who consider themselves at risk by an entire gender, it’s delusional to be frank. We’re not talking about a lone man here peeping under cubicles, it’s a caregiver and his child and many agree it’s a non issue despite your best attempts to taint it and make it sound unsavoury.

Any male is a potential risk to women.

Daphodils · 04/06/2022 20:45

YABU, unless he's a very strategic pervert who planned a family and made sure it was daughters, raised them for six years, in order to achieve his evil sick sick goal of catching the odd tinkly sound as you take a piss.

What utter bollocks. How the fuck do you get through life with that sort of deluded paranoia?

I'm on between you two and neither have I! Envy

StressedMumm1e · 04/06/2022 20:47

My dad took me into the men’s when I was about 5, what else was he supposed to do?!?! It was a horrible experience as there was a man using the urinal and I was unprepared for such an experience. I 100% would prefer a dad to use the women’s loo for his daughter’s who are too young to go alone.
I have been asked by a dad if I would mind taking his daughter into the female loo while he waited outside. At the time I thought it was a good idea from him. In reflection, as a mum and a childcare provider who is aware of safeguarding, I would have much preferred that he took his daughter in himself.
I don’t understand your problem, what are single male parents supposed to do in these situations?

Jajana · 04/06/2022 20:47

So how do you feel about male cleaning attendants servicing the toilets?

Are you absolutely serious? Do you honestly, genuinely not realise that men are stronger and larger than us, with testosterone and that a penis can be used as a weapon?

Are you absolutely serious when you say you don't believe men are a threat to women?

Like the poster who called my father a pervert because he took me into the mens toilet as a child where I saw a penis? The same poster who was saying OP was NBU.
