Dad in women's loo .

1000 replies

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 14:02

I have been to the loo in Mc Donald's and was mid flow when a dad walks in with his daughters aged about 4 and 6.He stands waiting while his daughters are using the toilet. I came out and said you are not supposed to be in here.
He said he had to take his daughters to the loo and I told him that he needed to either wait outside or take them the mens. He said they don't need to see that and I told him that he shouldn't be hanging round in women's toilets for any reason. His sense of entitlement gave me the rage so I told a member of staff. I can only imagine how triggering that could be for some women. Intrusive fucker.

I'd have no issue. If I'm doing something private. I'd do it in the cubicle. A dad standing by the sinks wouldn't make any difference to me. Without family loos, there's no easy solution either way round.

I've never seen women washing undies in a public sink either (do you then dry them under the dryer as they'd be wet?),

TreacheryPepper · 04/06/2022 17:45

Presumably you were in a cubicle rather than pissing in the middle of the floor. I don't see the issue.

Simonjt · 04/06/2022 17:45

CockSpadget · 04/06/2022 17:44

Pretty much every McDonalds has an accessible toilet, and that is the one that should have been used in this instance. Men should not be in womens toilets, by law.

People without disabilties shouldn’t be using the disabled facilties.

I've had to do it twice, and I've seen several other women do it to in my lifetime. And yes, you use the hand dryer.

I do have a Mr Discovereads near by and have been typing his man view down. So, it’s not me vs Simon. But man vs man. Shouldn’t be surprising that two men do not have the same opinion. After all we are women with conflicting opinions, are we not?

Of course! But you are describing things and asserting he is wrong for his opinions.

There’s So much whataboutery here with your reasoning, it’s a bit non-sensical.

Discovereads · 04/06/2022 17:49

Alb0 · 04/06/2022 17:39

No it is absolutely not true. And you know it.

Sorry but it is :)
Religion has segregated the sexes for thousands of years long before the humble flush toilet and ladies rooms were invented, and it still does. Really hilarious you are pretending otherwise. Never heard of menstruation huts? Or the fact that men and women in many religions do not sit together or use different spaces within the place/temple of worship? That women were and still are banned from certain sacred spaces reserved for men and vice versa?

Northbynorthbreast · 04/06/2022 17:50

my DH often needs to go into the women’s to change our ds. I’m sure he will be delighted when gender equality means changing rooms in all men’s toilets,as he is frequently attacked like this by women who can see he has a small writhing person under his arm. What’s to do?

and yes I wouldn’t want my 4 year olds seeing lots of adult mends genitalia so I think he did the right thing

Discovereads · 04/06/2022 17:51

Alb0 · 04/06/2022 17:40

The 4 year old is with her big sister. You honestly think she can't be with her big sister?

No, I honestly think 6 is too young to supervise a 4 yr old.

Yet another poster with a partner who clearly does the helicopter in public.

TheWeeDonkey · 04/06/2022 17:52

Well I think MN has spoken.

Men's toilets are for men only

Women's toilets are for anyone who wishes to use them.

Sounds like a great deal to me 🙃

IstayedForTheFeminism · 04/06/2022 17:52

More likely to be “Daddy this is the men’s, I’m a girl”.

"I know that darling. But until you're big enough to use the toilet on your own you have to come with Daddy. And I'm not allowed in the ladies"

If DC asks why "because you're still little so you're allowed in the men's"

bananaramadramas · 04/06/2022 17:53

As much as I wouldn't have felt completely comfortable with this, I'd feel less comfortable with my daughter going into the mens toilets with her dad.

Men's toilets are so open. There should be a better provision of family toilets.

We are talking about womens toilets and changeroom facilities. Not places of worship or menstruation huts. Feminists had to fight for these facilities. It had nothing at all to do with religion. It was about womens participation in society, and privacy and protection of women.

EvenTheReceptionStaffHaveLeft · 04/06/2022 17:53

They aren't 'standing' alone. They are using a female toilet in a female facility, surrounded by..... females. There can be no safer space.

@Alb0 i disagree they are safer with their Dad to protect them. Myra Hindley was a female but I would argue that I’d rather have a Dad in the ladies than her.

What if your DD went in the ladies alone and this man was in?

FreddyVoorhees · 04/06/2022 17:53

Bit of a damned if he does, damned if he doesn't to be honest.

He takes them into the men's toilets/changing rooms there could be willies all over the place. It's just how it is with urinals.

He takes them into the women's toilets he's obviously a sexual predator rather than a dad taking his daughters into the correct area for them.

Out of interest, how are people on here with women using the men's changing rooms with their DS(5ish)?

No, I only asserted he was factually wrong in claiming all urinals have wide sides and barriers that make it impossible to see dick just walking by. Thankfully, other men and women on this thread have also corrected him on this little piece of misinformation. He has a right to any all actual opinions, but facts are facts.

What do you think happens at school? Most kids are at nursery before starting school. Unless there are other issues a 4 year old should be fine with her big sister in a female only environment.

'Supervise'? They are in a toilet for 3 minutes! We're not talking about a 6 year old babysitting for an hour or two.

FabFitFifties · 04/06/2022 17:55

ChiselandBits · 04/06/2022 14:09

at 4 and 6 they are a bit young to go in alone and given the mens' will have open urinals I can see his dilemma. Its a Macdonald's loo not a changing room - can adult women really not cope with a man who is obviously in charge of young girls and cares about their welfare being in there for a few minutes? Ideally there would be a family room or accessible loo but if he'd used that he no doubt would also be in the wrong.

This. Though he could perhaps of shouted to ask if anyone was there, and could he come in with his daughters. You it seems would say no, OP, so he could wait until you came out.

BEAM123 · 04/06/2022 17:55

So, you made this man, who was looking out for his daughters' welfare, feel bad about it and not only that but you also criticised him in front of his kids and made them feel bad too?
Well done.

I do fully understand the discomfort but you are an adult and this is an issue of lack of facilities. I am pretty sure he probably also felt uncomfortable. He had maybe even asked his wife what to do and she told him to suck up his discomfort and take them to the ladies!

Was there a disabled or changing room type loo available and open? If not, take it up with McDonalds. I have also often wondered how men having their kids alone for the weekend cope.

Hell0daisy · 04/06/2022 17:55

Alb0 · 04/06/2022 17:36

@Hell0daisy Thanks for telling a rape survivor and a survivor of a sexual assault in a womens toilet by a man that she is 'precious' and 'triggered'. You sound very short-sighted, callous and ignorant.

Women wash out period-stained underwear at the sink, adjust themselves, change to go clubbing, etc. It is not merely 'washing hands'. If it was, there would be no 'womens' facilities.

And the child(ren) may become rape/SA victims themselves if left to go into the womens unattended, or into the mens. At the very least, some mental scarring of seeing strangers with their penises out at such a young age. I’m sorry for your trauma but I simply don’t agree with what you’re saying.

Change your clothes in the cubicle? Wash your underwear 30 seconds later? Or even at home? I’m sorry but if you’re choosing to wash your underwear in a public toilet then you have to expect some kind of atmosphere. 1) surely people wait until they get home to do that sort of thing and if not 2) who the fick gives a shit about the opinion of an unknown person stood there, male or female?

anyway, Let’s agree to disagree. I don’t back your viewpoint and vice versa. Have a nice weekend 😘

SushiShopSearch · 04/06/2022 17:56

A decent man would feel very awkward going in to a ladies' loo - and so they should. Men are just trying it on now. YANBU

@EvenTheReceptionStaffHaveLeft I think that's a very disingenuous or strawman argument. Myras are very, very rare. And you are far more likely to be abused by your own father than ever meet a Myra.

Sorry but your statement was “Why on Earth do you ever think SSS were invented?” So I was addressing that statement as it is written in plain English. Why single sex spaces were invented. Not why ladies toilets were invented. If that’s what you meant, you should have been more specific and are really just a victim of your own hyperbole.
