Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

Taking refuge in "lefty Londoners" just isn't going to work.

Agreed! “Lefty Londoners” are not the types to stand outside a church in the Hope of catching a glimpse of the Royal family……. To be booed by this crowd is quite extraordinary (if richly deserved).

LizzieW1969 · 03/06/2022 22:25

He’s always been the same, a complete buffoon not worthy of any office. Right from the first time I heard about him, when he insulted Liverpudlians for not being moaners. (I can’t remember his exact words but they were unpleasant and sneering.) He simply hasn’t changed.

It’s hardly surprising that he was booed today, there’s so much anger against him in the country. It’s completely deserved as well.

StoneofDestiny · 03/06/2022 21:12

90% of those people moaning about it also had their own gatherings at home

An utterly repugnant thing to say.
No idea what world you live in, but not the same one as the rest of us.

Completely agree.
Couldn't put it better myself.

The Yorks weren’t there …

A was of course conspicuous by his absence, A&S were probably watching at home and B&E were of course there with their husbands.

Time and a place surely and entering St Paul's for a service of thanksgiving would seem neither tbh.

No, it's pretty apposite, given that the picture of the Queen sitting alone in church at her husband's funeral while Johnson was busy attending leaving parties is so fresh in our minds.

WimpoleHat · 03/06/2022 22:32

Isn't it just? Almost poetic justice….

Crikeyalmighty · 03/06/2022 22:35

@User135644 Brexit voting Tory's in the Home Counties?? Mm that's a very mixed picture whilst some if Essex and Kent may be more that way, large parts of the Home Counties , especially the bigger towns may have been Tory , not sure that would be the case now- see Chesham and Amersham for details- I fully expect further home county 'urban' areas to go Lib Dem or labour in next election-

Those who hate him, really really hate him because he has such a big support and yes, brexit did happen, and your remain vote plus 2+ years of remoaning didn't pay off..but okay we'll just forever bang on about parties, despite the fact that 90% of those people moaning about it also had their own gatherings at home.. any excuse, honestly..

You have zero evidence for any of those assertions, and of course you know perfectly well that all the evidence shows that you are, quite simply, wrong. But never mind, dear, if it makes you feel better to carry on sticking your fingers in your ears whilst screwing your eyes tight shut and loudly singing "la la la", you carry right on.

MigsandTiggs · 03/06/2022 19:15

Was it appropriate to even have leaving do's at that time tho? Boris could have sent a handwritten note, a voice note or had a 1to1 meeting with the staff member who was leaving. He's an untrustworthy man, lacking in morals. I'm certainly not fedup of partygate. A dear friend died during lockdown and I had to watch his funeral on Zoom while only his wife and nephew attended in person. One rule for some...

No, it wasn't. The rules were perfectly clear to everyone except Boris. No non-essential gatherings at work, a leaving do is not essential, therefore no leaving dos. If he struggled with understanding that, he could have consulted the cop on the front door.

AmaryIlis · 03/06/2022 22:49

and yes, brexit did happen, and your remain vote plus 2+ years of remoaning didn't pay off.

You won, get over it. You're just going to have to live with the consequences now. Have you seen those queues on the way to Dover?

Crikeyalmighty · 03/06/2022 22:56

@AmaryIlis precisely-- . Maybe Jenny would like to list all the mega advantages it's given us - because I can think of bugger all - unless of course we are in 'off shore level of wealth' territory ! Could be she's married to an HGV driver though and had a big raise due to massive work force shortages screw the rest of us!!

DuncinToffee · 03/06/2022 22:56

Especially for Nadine Dorries, a poll

Was Boris Johnson greeted with booing or cheering?

I was in hospital having a life saving operation when that bastard was partying, no visitors. Alone and scared.

oh and there’s still no evidence Kier broke the law.

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas
you beat me to it! #booforboris - let’s get it trending!

Blackheath95 · 03/06/2022 23:03

Booing prime ministers is a national pass time in Australia 🤷🏻.

Crikeyalmighty · 03/06/2022 23:04

@gilead my 82 year old FIL was getting to grips with WhatsApp and people waving at him through windows only 10 months after being widowed having nursed his partner through cancer --- and this bunch were acting like a bunch of bankers at corney & barrow on a Friday afternoon in the 90s

Salome61 · 03/06/2022 23:05

Can't wait to see what Led by Donkeys do .....

Disgraceful behaviour.

Yes you're right, Boris's behaviour has been disgraceful.

limitedperiodonly · 03/06/2022 23:31

I don't understand why some people are so worried. If he's the great and popular leader they say then a few people booing him won't have any effect.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 03/06/2022 23:46

It is the least he deserves. When I listen to the stories of people dying alone it breaks my heart. Some of the comments on here are priceless, bojo has absolute contempt for all of us. Disgusting man.

GreenLunchBox · 03/06/2022 23:58

The next few weeks will be interesting 😉😎

Most of the country are sick to the back teeth of party gate , it would be a very strange boss who didn't attend a leaving do at work .

Even old Keir was doing the same .

Very childish to boo and today wasn't the right occasion or place .

Bot alert

MushyPeasPrincess · 04/06/2022 00:20

@hattie43 I would LOVE to see your evidence about "most of the country being sick of party gate" Hmm - sick of his lies and lack of morals more like. He deserved every boo.

MushyPeasPrincess · 04/06/2022 00:24

Laiste · 03/06/2022 18:14

The reason the occasion WAS entirely appropriate was the juxtaposition with his behaviour directly in contrast with the queen sitting alone at her DHs funeral so recently.

To me the boos were a sign of solidarity from the public to the queen.

Yes this!
