Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

Didn't Johnson and several of his ministers (Patel for example) say that football fans booing the taking of the knee at football matches were entitled to express their opinion in that way?

So I'd say he got a taste of his own medicine

Most of the country are sick to the back teeth of party gate , it would be a very strange boss who didn't attend a leaving do at work .

Even old Keir was doing the same .

Very childish to boo and today wasn't the right occasion or place .

Are you tone deaf? Leaving dos happened over Zoom during the pandemic. Because you know we couldn't go to funerals or visit very sick, dying relatives.

Yes but most bosses didn’t allow leaving parties when we were in lockdown did they?

Very few people deserve booing more than the vile prime minister

I’m sure some Tory MPs will be getting nervous seeing the footage -you would imagine the crowds who turn out for Royal events are most likely to be more conservative leaning voters. If he’s lost them it’s bad news for the Tory’s

This is what we were saying earlier. I hope the party begins to see that he’s badly misread the mood of the country, and decides to finally do something about it. I have everything crossed for next week.

comealongponds · 03/06/2022 16:41

And if Keir Starmer was accused of 1/1000th of what Boris Johnson is known to have done, Johnson would be leading the boos, so I have zero sympathy

ChompChamp · 03/06/2022 16:42

Polls show about 60% of the country think he should resign. The crowd at the jubilee is about as friendly as he can hope for. He should get used to this.

Lonelycrab · 03/06/2022 16:42

I think you’ll find that most of the country are actually sick to the back teeth of Johnson and want him gone. This includes many in his own party of course.

Nobody deserves to be booed, and it's rather juvenile behaviour.

So is having a piss up during a time when you've made it illegal for the general public to visit their own family members!! Deserves a lot more than booing. Hope the Tories are taking this feedback on board!

AppleandRhubarbTart · 03/06/2022 16:43

Boris lovers complaining about the inappropriateness of this makes it all the more delicious.

ExcaliburBaby · 03/06/2022 16:47

My husband missed being with his dad as he died. As Hospice rules in November 2020 was only one person at a time sitting in the room. And no wake was permitted after the (limited numbers) funeral, we stood in a rainy crematorium car park feeling guilty for chatting in groups briefly before people drove home. Boris Johnson’s pathetic excuses about why is was ok for No 10 to be not following the rules everyone else had to are disgusting and he deserves every boo he gets.

1922 committee needs to get itself together and take action.

You expect festival crowds to boo Tories but royalists are far more likely to be Tory supporters. They're not necessarily middle class though.

These boos should make Tory MPs very nervous.

This. If those people are booing him he’s in deep shit.

Even his wife can’t stand the sight of him if her hat was anything to go by.

mbosnz · 03/06/2022 16:50

Oh no, I think some people deserve to be booed. Particularly when they're trying so hard to dismantle the ways in which ordinary people can voice their anger and dismay. So, him, more than most.

LadyCatStark · 03/06/2022 16:50

I’m glad they booed him. Maybe he might actually start to understand.

Nobody deserves to be booed, and it's rather juvenile behaviour.

We're talking about someone who rewrote the ministerial code to try and keep himself in office after blatantly breaking the law - he absolutely deserves to be boo'd. He's a rogue.

Figgygal · 03/06/2022 16:51

Usually id have said there is a time and a place for such displays but honestly fuck him wish theyd booed louder

Tanith · 03/06/2022 16:52

He lied to the Queen and attended an illegal party on the eve of her funeral. What better time and place to show their contempt of him?

It's been noticed that she has twice backed out of engagements that would have brought her into the same room as him. I wouldn't want to be mouthing more lies for the charlatan either.

Tanith · 03/06/2022 16:52

Her husband's funeral, I should say!

Gunpowder · 03/06/2022 16:55

I think it will worry the Tories too. The mood has changed. That said, Keir arriving to silence isn’t great for Labour. I think a lot of people don’t even know who he is.

AppleandRhubarbTart · 03/06/2022 16:57

Tanith · 03/06/2022 16:52

Her husband's funeral, I should say!

Exactly. So why would a crowd of royalists have anything but contempt for him?

sst1234 · 03/06/2022 16:49

1922 committee needs to get itself together and take action.

There were rumours that they reached 54+ letters on Tuesday but are waiting until next week to announce a no confidence vote so as not to overshadow the Jubilee.

Workquestion12 · 03/06/2022 17:01

Carrie smiled and laughed which I thought was weird. Nervousness? Or doesn't give a shite?

Jott · 03/06/2022 17:03

Probably trying to brazen it out. Photos in the papers tomorrow will show them with smiling faces rather than serious ones.

Nervous embarrassment I imagine- I think unless you're playing a pantomime baddy, no one really enjoys being booed do they?

And knowing how much Johnson loves to be liked, I think today will have really stung.
