WTF has happened to ice cream?

Felt the need so popped in to Waitrose for a little tub.

tubs of low calorie - what’s the point of that in ice cream?
Or rhubarb and pineapple or ginger and galangal.
Or £8 for a jar of artisan gelato shite.
Yogurt! Frozen!
plant based vegan shit.
even the haagen daazy was stupid flavours and didn’t Appeal. So unfair. I just want a tub of proper nice ice cream. Made from sugar and dairy.

ended up with a tub of Yeo valley mint choc chip and it is frankly a disappointment and tastes sandy.

Our Waitrose has Italian icecream made by Grom. Lovely, the real stuff.

We have a local family run ice cream shop that makes its own for the shop and their ice cream vans. The plain Dairy flavour is bloody lovely!

I’m guessing those bemoaning “ plant based vegan shit” have never even tried it. I prefer it to ice cream made out of cow puss myself. It’s really creamy and you don’t have to feel guilty about baby boy calf’s being separated from their poor grieving mothers!

I have tried vegan ice-cream. As I said, it was okay but the ingredients list alarmed me and I avoid highly processed foods.

Nobody has to feel guilty about what they eat, that's a personal choice.

Jolly good. That wasn't the one I tried. As I said, though, I have tried vegan ice cream, and I prefer real icecream.

@MagnoliaTaint It's silly to generalise to all vegan ice cream on the basis of the ingredients of one. I'm not going to break into your house and steal your dairy ice cream, and it's not as if vegans have the power to remove it from the market any time soon. But you and some others have repeatedly made comments about 'oooh the scary ingredients!' And it's just really unnecessary and not very nice. There are dairy ice creams with long ingredient lists and vegan ice creams with short. And I bet there are dairy ice creams you don't like that much either.

Also vegan ice cream is real ice cream.

You're upset because I said vegan icecream had a long ingredients list? And that it wasn't 'real' icecream?

Why are people getting so angry? I'm fairly sure food has no feelings and really doesn't care if someone says it's, in their opinion, foul shit.

The food doesn't need anyone to get angry in its defence. Are people getting angry because someone saying they think X food tastes shit is interpreted somehow a personal attack on the person who enjoys eating it? Because it's really not.

Swedish Glace is alright but all the other non-dairy ice creams I've tried made me sick.

I wonder if it'd work doing a non-dairy no churn ice cream with condensed coconut milk and some non-dairy whipping cream. That could be alright.
