WTF has happened to ice cream?

Felt the need so popped in to Waitrose for a little tub.

tubs of low calorie - what’s the point of that in ice cream?
Or rhubarb and pineapple or ginger and galangal.
Or £8 for a jar of artisan gelato shite.
Yogurt! Frozen!
plant based vegan shit.
even the haagen daazy was stupid flavours and didn’t Appeal. So unfair. I just want a tub of proper nice ice cream. Made from sugar and dairy.

ended up with a tub of Yeo valley mint choc chip and it is frankly a disappointment and tastes sandy.

@TimeTravelSickness than what are you doing on an icecream thread? Really think you need to start you own thread relating to your personal choices.

Oh and if you don't eat cream great for you but again start your own thread as this is about those that eat icecream.

Ooh, I'll have to try that. I love coconut ice-cream; there used to be a choc-ice called Coconut Nice, which was gorgeous.

chocolate ice cream with liquorice is lovely. I sceptically bought one in the style of a Magnum in Norway and was converted. If anyone can tell me where to find similar in the UK I’d be hugely grateful.

I do eat ice cream occasionally, ‘the plant based vegan shit’, I said so on the first page... so why wouldn’t I be on the thread as the discussion has led on to other things. Are you official thread police? 😬

You can't beat proper good quality dairy ice cream.

Mackies used to be a favourite, but they changed the recipe and it's gone to pot now.

New favourite - English Lakes Double Jersey ice cream. This stuff is like crack to me.

Yeo Valley ice cream is horribly disappointing. I have the same issues with Waitrose own brand offerings. While I do really enjoy Grom and Remo gelato, it’s got too expensive and hasn’t been on offer lately. And besides, it’s not ‘proper’ ice cream anyway. I would love a huge tub of good old fashioned neapolitan ice-cream.

Used to love Oreo ice cream sandwiches but the ones in the box of six have shrunk to half their previous size.

@Blackmagicqueen If OP mentions vegan ice cream, is very rude about it, and then so are multiple other people, then it's hardly surprising people who disagree will post rebuttals.

i mentioned I like cream so really didn’t need to be chastised for it. I haven’t said a thing about vegan icecream or any derogatory comments; I have vegan family members!

The rebuttal was aimed at me by @TimeTravelSickness so yes it diss read like you’re grouping me in the anti vegan group. Thank you for confirming that you’re not doing this.

As for thread police I was meaning the animal welfare comment as that is a whole new issue and should imo have it’s own thread. I didn’t appreciate being chastised for enjoying diary and made an example of by @TimeTravelSickness I apologise for my comment regarding enjoying icecream as misread it that time travel didn’t eat it at all, of course vegan and low fat are all valid options for those who choose them.

I wasn’t making an example of anyone. I quoted a post as you were saying what was important to you in choosing ice cream and I wrote what was important to me. I was very clear that it was my thoughts.

It was a comment. I don't make posts about animal welfare issues as they never go well when anyone does. People get very defensive. The state of the planet will force plant based diets on many soon enough anyway.

In the interests of science I have acquired a tub of Morrisons' Caffe Latte ice cream. Tests will commence later this evening.

To be clear: I will not be testing the icecream on any animals. Not even if they ask nicely.
