She might not remember Hicksville guy. Guy said she was bored and quiet during the tour and she didn't talk to him much. She was drinking and drugging with her friends and partying. It was almost 10 years ago. She doesn't really care about other people and might not have any recollection - but to then say he wasn't there or was misidentifying himself or whatever point she was trying make...bizarre.

With regards to the trial, Depps team are outstanding. Especially at cross, they go in catch the person out and quit. The trial seems to be full of Depps sides testimony and yet they managed to save the hours. There are a few experts wishing that the trial wasn’t televised after cross. Civil litigation is for the rich

RosieRooster83 · 26/05/2022 17:40

I haven't managed to watch the trial today so I am a bit behind but will most likely catch up on it later. I did see yesterday though and I thought Dr Curry was good.

I thought Camille got a little nervous and over excited at points in that cross. As though Amber was getting to her. I still think she did a good job but I thought she missed a couple key points to make.

I we are seeing someone who realises she has backed herself into a corner - she’s been exposed, she has nowhere to hide, and she is incapable of backing down so she’s just going to keep on attacking - she doesn’t know how to do anything else.

She’s been caught out and exposed to the whole world as a liar but she will never ever admit that, even to herself, so all she can do is keep attacking. It’s all she knows how to do.

As much as I despise liars and so despise what she’s done - I do worry for her after this. She is destroyed, mentally and career wise, and who knows what support she will have after this, if friends will stand by her or walk away. She needs professional help for sure but she’ll never accept it because that would mean admitting what she’s done. And that ultimately, she has done this to herself by her own actions and behaviour.

I think it is a concern. I do think she has BPD and there is also a higher risk for self harm. We know she has self harmed before and if she feels too all alone or abandoned or rejected or the adrenaline of all this wears off, she could get into a pretty dark place. She does have trauma and lots of other risk factors for poor mental health too.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:44

I think this is probably the first time in her life that she’s been challenged about what she says and does. She usually just shouts and bullies (and beats) people into submission and they either tow the line (like her sister) or walk away (like Elon and JD). But no one ever actually ever CHALLENGED her like this before - and in the courtroom she couldn’t shout and scream and thrown things to get her own way…so she got exposed…and now she’s furious about that and terrified because it’s never happened to her before and she’s a person who HAS to be in control and suddenly she’s not in control anymore and there’s nothing she can do about it. We saw that from her on the stand at the end.

And when people like that find themselves with nowhere else to go they lash out and go to extreme lengths, and I mean EXTREME, to try and regain that control.

I agree with this completely.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:46

Yes exactly @Midlifemusings - and you’re right, if she has BPD (and I agree I think she does too, but possibly not just BPD) then that puts her at much higher risk of doing something extreme and impulsive that she later regrets.

Completely agree. Losing control is scary and she has very intense emotions on top of that.

I think something happened at the sidebar and she had to change tract. I don’t understand why she didn’t bring up the children hospital though.

Unfortunately I would be concerned about gestures or even an attempt to curry sympathy or to try to reset the narrative a little. Not convinced she wants to die but she might want to do something to show people how much they hurt her and make them feel guilty and sorry for her.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:49

And if she loses then presumably she will be legally prevented from speaking about him in this way ever again - and she won’t be able to stand that - she will want to public ally have the lady word, and she won’t be able to and she’ll have to deal with reading and hearing how the verdict is reported and digested in the media calling her a liar, and she’ll not be able to say anything. She’ll combust.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:50

@Midlifemusings that would be my worry too

TiddyTidTwo · 26/05/2022 17:50

Spot on Rino

Trouble is she's an angry person so I hope she doesn't take it out on someone else.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:52

The lady word?! 😂the LAST word!

RosieRooster83 · 26/05/2022 17:52

I just hope that she doesn't get so much hate and abuse from the public that she does something awful like harming herself. I don't like what she has done but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. The abuse from people has been awful and I'm talking shouting at her in the street and death threats apparently. No need for any of that.

RIght to the end she stuck by her desire to keep having a voice to speak to her 'truth' and tell her story. She said she wants to get back to what she was doing before that gave her and other women voices and gave her meaning. She isn't done yet. But MeToo and TimesUp and BelieveAllWomen are really unlikely to want her back.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 17:53

From what I gather, tomorrow morning is closing statements from both sides and then the jury start their deliberations

jeffgoldblum · 26/05/2022 17:54

Finally though , justice for depp?
I hope so , I'm not sure how anyone can believe anything she says now !

minou123 · 26/05/2022 17:55

If anyone is interested, court is back.

The jury are not there.

This is for the lawyers to discuss jury instructions and so on.

jeffgoldblum · 26/05/2022 17:56

As a woman whose been abused in the past , I don't want her talking for or being my voice !

@RosieRooster83 You are right - when someone is that close to the edge you don’t push them.

unctuousunicorns1 · 26/05/2022 18:03

Equally, JD has been diagnosed with bipolar, adhd, depression, insomnia and also has a history of both self harm and long term substance abuse, all or some of which is very possibly attributable to his dysfunctional childhood.

If he loses this case - and it's not a given that he will win it just yet - let's not forget that this case, although ostensibly about lost earnings, is, let's face it, really about JD clearing his name. If he fails to do so, and remains "officially" a wife beater and rapist to the world, I think he would be at equal risk of, if not outright suicide, then relapsing into yet more (assuming he is currently clean/sober) drug and alcohol abuse until he eventually ends up dead. (Big) boys don't cry; they just kick and punch the furniture whilst necking booze and chucking pills and whatnot down their throats.

I really don't want either of them to come to harm.

I don't think winning or losing really matters to him that much. He said even at the end that he wanted to be able to tell his story and win or lose he has done that.

Losing is more about money - not about reputation or credibility at this point. WInning would be vindicating but he can ove on without that.

Rinoachicken · 26/05/2022 18:13

I agree - it’s a scary time for them both. The outcome of public opinion may be one thing, but the legal outcome of the case is still uncertain (to me anyway!) I really don’t know which way it will go.

she said at the end there that he is a powerful man and people support powerful men and so she wrote the op-Ed to take away his power - that admission from her - totally unprompted as well - that she wrote it about him with the intent that it damage him in some way - may just swing it for him. And it’ll be fresh in their minds as it was the last thing said.
