Dd14 is friends with another girl who is 14 and has a boyfriend.

she posted on her Instagram story yesterday of her in the shower with her bf, both clearly naked. He’s holding her boobs.

would you tell her parents? I would want to know if my daughter was posting stuff I think

Yep definitely on the right thread. Statutory rape can involve sexual “activity” not necessarily intercourse.

It really can't. Perhaps you should look up the definition of rape first before spouting shite on the internet.

whynotwhatknot · 16/05/2022 21:47

any of her friends could have seen it and reported or adults so your dd neednt worry about that

but concerned about you husband saying stay o0ut of it though

OnTheBoardwalk · 16/05/2022 21:47

Is this a question? It’s surely a safeguarding issue? Please report and let their parents know

Parentcarerandcrazy · 16/05/2022 21:52

Safeguarding! I would absolutely be reporting this to parents of both children and to the local safeguarding duty team. They are children.

TurquoiseSwirl · 16/05/2022 22:11

Of course you tell them.
like hell do her parents know and are ok with it.
if it’s on Instagram then you and your daughter aren’t the only one and anyone can report it not you. So you can report it and deny if needed.

Isaidno22 · 16/05/2022 22:15

Yes but then they didn’t do anything about it which was the actual issue.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 16/05/2022 22:25

Email your school head of year right now explaining what’s happened. Obviously do not screenshot the picture. Your dd doesn’t have to know it came from you.

Tear an almighty fucking big strip off your idiot dh and remind him how he’d feel if somebody was distributing pics of his daughter naked with a boy. How it’s illegal.

That poor girl. That pic will be all over the school by morning.

@fluffycereal Yep definitely on the right thread. Statutory rape can involve sexual “activity” not necessarily intercourse. This is particularly the case when both parties are under age and despite the fact there was (I assume) consent.

This is almost entirely wrong.

However this is indeed a safeguarding issue and I would definitely report to the local police and social care services.

boredwithfoodprob · 16/05/2022 22:30

I am not “spouting shite”. I have, in the past 2 weeks had training in this at work and was surprised too. To quote from BBC Bitesize

“Statutory rape is when one or both of the parties engaging in sexual activity are below the age of consent. Statutes are laws.”

Your work taught you that it is statutory rape? A phot of someone touching someone's breast? Rape? Are you sure? Who is delivering this training?

Beautiful3 · 16/05/2022 18:03

Take a screenshot and send to her school. It's a major safe guarding issue.

Only if you want to be done for distribution

Did this training really use BBC Bitesize as a resource for adults working in this field? Who provided it?

FarmGirl78 · 17/05/2022 00:47

@boredwithfoodprob I've been a Juror on a rape trial. We had to go through all the legal definitions of various sexual assaults, including rape. And what object being inserted into what orifice qualified as what definition. The situation described here in not rape.

And heaven help your company if they're relying on BBC Bitesize for staff training. 🙄

Maybebabyno2 · 17/05/2022 04:52

Awful situation but so glad I read this thread! I would have screen shot the image if i was in the same position to show the police/school. I had no idea this could get you into trouble as thought it would be evidence. Glad I haven't yet been in this position and now know what not to do if it (fingers crossed never) ever happens.

BBC Bitesize need to get their facts correct. As does whoever provided your training.

In the UK, while the term “statutory rape” is commonly used, the legal framework and terminology is actually that contained within the Sexual Offences Act: www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/rape-and-sexual-offences-chapter-7-key-legislation-and-offences#a16

including, for relevance:
The Crown Prosecution guidelines state "[I]t is not in the public interest to prosecute children who are of the same or similar age and understanding that engage in sexual activity, where the activity is truly consensual for both parties and there are no aggravating features, such as coercion or corruption."
