Would you let parents know if their dd14 was posting rude photos

Dd14 is friends with another girl who is 14 and has a boyfriend.

she posted on her Instagram story yesterday of her in the shower with her bf, both clearly naked. He’s holding her boobs.

would you tell her parents? I would want to know if my daughter was posting stuff I think

@ChewtonBunny

It's neither. It's making illegal images.

It's child abuse

PumpkinPie2016 · 16/05/2022 19:20

I would definitely make the parents aware. She is a child posting photographs of herself naked, with a boyfriend, online for goodness knows who to see!

She may well not be aware of the dangers of doing this. Someone also needs to make her aware that these things can follow you later in life.

DogsAndGin · 16/05/2022 19:21

They’ll disown you?! This is a much more serious issue that they think it is - and that’s really worrying as it reflects on what actions they think are reasonable for themselves too

BloomsburyNook · 16/05/2022 19:23

My 14 is sitting reading greek poetry and knitting artisanal socks with her free hand. And this was only minutes after her completing a dissertation on climate change. We must live under a rock, ooooh.

/stealth boast

fluffycereal · 16/05/2022 19:23

@ChewtonBunny

What are you trying to say?

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/05/2022 19:23

I would definitely report this to the school. Sometimes you have to do what is right, not what will make you popular with your dd. You are the parent. My dd knows this and I have always passed on any safeguarding concerns she brought to me.

As for the comments about 14 year olds having sex being abnormal. Unfortunately it is the age, where massive pressure happens. Boys expecting girls to do things to them or not being prepared to date them. Then when they do, or perhaps even have sex, they often dump them. It was similar when I was this age.

TabithaTittlemouse · 16/05/2022 19:27

Your daughter doesn’t have to know that you have reported it. Others will have seen it.

Although by doing nothing you are teaching your daughter that this is okay.

mathanxiety · 16/05/2022 19:28

Yes, and also school safeguarding person.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 16/05/2022 19:29

Yes - WTAF

My daughter would disown me. She and my husband thinks I should keep my nose out and that her parents probably know because she tells them everything..

Are you saying your husband would not want to know if his (your) daughter was posting such images?
Report to the school immediately.

VeryTrying22 · 16/05/2022 18:39

@Mally100 older generations often don’t think teens have sex. So not surprised you feel this way.

One in 20 girls in the UK is sexually active before 16, that’s not a small number

Not the point but I’m actually astonished it’s that low!

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:35

I would screenshot it so I had evidence before it disappeared. If phone school and ask to does your HoY first thing tomorrow.

mathanxiety · 16/05/2022 19:36

@VeryTrying22 -
19 out of 20 girls under age 16 are not sexually active.

That's a lot more than the small minority who are.

It's actually very unusual for girls under age 16 to be sexually active.

fluffycereal · 16/05/2022 19:37

@Oblomov22

Screenshotting it is illegal.

siblingrevelryagain · 16/05/2022 19:44

Do not screen shot it;

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:46

It's illegal? So how would you ever prove that a child had for example said something racist or bullying if you didn't screenshot it as evidence?

KatieB55 · 16/05/2022 19:46

Tell the school and they will deal with it. They have good safeguarding processes in place. Very important to do this asap.

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:47

"Is screenshotting pictures illegal? No, screenshotting images is not illegal. However, how you use that screenshot could be illegal. If you use, publish, or share copyrighted images without the rights or licenses to that content, you're infringing on the owner's copyright and could face legal repercussions."

Noname1999 · 16/05/2022 19:48

Yes, those photos are child sexual abuse images. There is no world where those images are ok.

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:49

I thought it was the act sharing of them that made it illegal?

SpringIntoChaos · 16/05/2022 19:49

Beautiful3 · 16/05/2022 18:03

Take a screenshot and send to her school. It's a major safe guarding issue.

Absolutely DO NOT DO THIS!!!

Terrible advice!! And would land you in very hot water!!

Screenshotting illegal images is illegal.

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:51

I never ever said send it anywhere. Don't misquote me.

You would be guilty of 'making illegal images' for Screenshotting an illegal image.

Oblomov22 · 16/05/2022 19:52

Not once did I ever suggest sharing it. Please don't misquote me.
