To be annoyed over a tub of egg mayo?

Squiff70 · 15/05/2022 12:25

Yesterday morning we went shopping. We got lunch supplies for the next few days. I chose egg mayo as a sandwich filler and DP chose deli meats like chorizo.

I've just come to make lunch and found he's eaten my egg mayo. A full fucking tub. He has been known to pile it high on sandwiches but only after he's asked if we can share. This time he didn't ask.

I can't have deli meats due to being pregnant but I don't like them either, so now I have nothing for lunch. I'm fuming.

He's been in the bathroom for 40 minutes so far and has only just got in the shower. Why do men need to take a half-hour poo in preparation? He'll be at least 20 minutes in the shower than at least another 20 minutes after having a shave, so I can't send him out to get something else for lunch. My parents are coming this afternoon and I need a shower before they arrive. Instead I'm looking after our 2 year old daughter in my dressing gown and feeling grubby as well as hungry.

I also need a wee and we have no other barhroom/toilet so I'm getting very irritated.

AIBU?

Super annoying but surely you havr eggs and mayo in the house? It takes 5 mins to make

They have neither of those ingredients so this is a pointless post

Super annoying but surely you have the ability to read the whole thread? OP’s replies only take 5 mins to read

ThinWomansBrain · 15/05/2022 17:46

Shop bought mayonnaise is grim - make your own
Shop bought egg mayonnaise - never tried it, I imagine it's worse - YABU for buying the crap - maybe DH was trying to save you from yourself?

Does the child have a potty?
20 minutes in the shower IS unreasonable

cleolayne · 15/05/2022 17:48

At 1pm parents were due really soon
At 3pm parents due really soon

cleolayne · 15/05/2022 17:49

@stuntbubbles

Nope

LoveinTheFastLane · 15/05/2022 17:50

That I should keep eggs and mayo in the fridge at all times even though we don't usually use them, for mere inconveniences such as this

Clearly you have money to waste if you resort to buying it for £1.75 a tub.

How on earth can you never use eggs? You say you eat egg mayo!

We get through loads

boiled, poached, scrambled, omelettes, and in cakes and puddings.
And EVEN in a sandwich.

Norgie · 15/05/2022 17:55

1/10 for effort.

motherofchihuahuas · 15/05/2022 18:02

@bumblefeline agree ref the salad cream. Tuna Mayo is better made with salad cream also.

However, lots of drama over a butty ffs.

FirewomanSam · 15/05/2022 18:05

Ding ding ding! I think that’s MN bingo.

I feel like the only reason you didn't get female solidarity is because you were rude to other posters. Why post on here if you just want to backchat the people who comment back to you?

It was a pointless comment though. @Squiff70 had already said she did not like or want to eat the deli meats so suggesting she did was silly.

StaunchMomma · 15/05/2022 18:12

Oh my days, who knew it was wrong to have a lunchtime shower or to not have eggs in or that you have to EXPLAIN why your TODDLER doesn't have a PASSPORT!!!!

Honestly, just batshittery.

Eastlyne · 15/05/2022 18:12

The drama is over the fact her Dh was a jerk - he was, and she is allowed to be irritated!

Why doesn't your toddler have a passport - most random question ever. Loads of toddlers don't have passports. They cost money. If you're not going to use it soon, why would you get one.

Eastlyne · 15/05/2022 18:14

At 12.35 you’re commenting about wasting food, yet here you say you throw away more eggs than you use! Just why are you throwing away eggs?

That's why she doesn't buy them any more. That's why she bought the tub. Read. The information is in the text.

Inertia · 15/05/2022 18:27

I’m amazed at the number of people insisting that the answer to a greedy husband eating a pregnant woman’s lunch is for the woman to remake her lunch with ingredients she doesn’t have.

If he wanted a full tub of egg mayo he could have chosen another tub while they were at the shops.

If they have bread/tomatoes/ marmite whatever else in the house- well , he could have eaten some of that instead of the egg mayo.

It’s particularly selfish to eat a pregnant woman’s food, knowing that safety guidelines apply and that pregnant women often go off some foods.

@Inertia right?! Imagine if this turned out to be a reverse: ‘sorry guys, I am actually the egg-eating husband! My wife is in a mood with me because I ate the whole tub but I told her she should have just made her own, thanks for confirming I’m right!’

You need to keep up!! This was covered on page 1...

We have since moved on to a wide range of other topics, including children's passports, meal planning, whether OP's husband is a keeper or a rat, and much else that I cannot recall.

Most recently it has been proposed that egg mayonnaise can be made with salad cream (what sacrilege is this??!!!), and a possible pelting of Thatcher's statue with eggs has been muted.

This thread may end up with pistols at dawn 😱

@Searchfornessie

what have you been doing all morning OP if you and your kid aren’t even dressed by 1pm?!”

a) that irrelevant. She can stay in pj’s all day if she wants as can her kids

b) why is it up to her to get the kids dressed. Her Husband could have done it if he wasn’t too busy shitting out all the egg Mayo he’d consumed

🤣🤣🤣 Brilliant

Giraffesandbottoms · 15/05/2022 15:13

@Nanny0gg

I am just surprised I seriously thought everyone immediately got their child a passport. Like a birth certificate. It’s quite worrying that people are having children if they can’t afford something basic like a passport.

You have seriously got to be joking!!

Nanny0gg · 15/05/2022 19:50

Giraffesandbottoms · 15/05/2022 15:17

This explains why there are always people panicking about their children’s passport just before a holiday! The thought of not having a passport ready to go for emergencies like funerals abroad makes me very twitchy.

didn’t know a child passport is only 5 years though that’s very good to know so I can line up the next one

Well, none of my DC or DGC have ever had or will probably ever have the need to go to an overseas funeral

And they haven't been abroad for years.

So - no need to spend money that can be better directed on a passport.

This is MN privilege at its finest!

Herejustforthisone · 15/05/2022 16:21

Why are some posters being such cunts to a pregnant woman just because she wanted to be able to eat some of the food she bought for herself?

Because it clearly makes for Sunday entertainment and the Bear Pits have closed

GarlicGnocchi · 15/05/2022 19:54

Is egg mayogate still going?

Nanny0gg · 15/05/2022 19:56

LuckySantangelo35 · 15/05/2022 17:39

So much mumsnet privilege showing on this thread…

you should always at all times have a full cupboard of food and a fridge full too when you have a child. Regardless of what your income is like and regardless of whether that means a lot of food waste and hence money waste.

Its perfectly ok to eat a full tub of sandwich filling in one go. This is not ok. It’s greedy. And a waste of money, that should have done for about three lunches.

You should buy a house with more than one bathroom has even been said. But of course! Everyone can afford to move at the moment can’t they.

FFS!!

And don't forget to get your baby a passport the minute it emerges from your womb

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 15/05/2022 20:04

Goldijobsandthe3bears · 15/05/2022 13:55

I have never seen tubs of egg mayonnaise at the supermarket, just to stop all the insightful replies 😏

With the other sandwich fillers. They do one with salad cream too tastes better but it's watery as shite and for what a tub costs you could get 6 eggs and a jar of 50p Mayo from Aldi and make your own

BusyMum47 · 15/05/2022 20:10

Yes, he's been a selfish, greedy twat but really? 1st world problems & all that. Either eat something else, make some egg mayo yourself or bang on the bathroom door, tell him to get his arse into gear & send him out to buy something else.
