I've just seen the videos and have been reading up on this, utterly gobsmacked..
I mean, you'd think they'd have left the funeral take place?

I met Joseph (the guy in the video I posted) yesterday at Speakers' Corner. He kept posing an interesting question to people who attacked him for the Shireen murder: Can you name a single one of the 480+ other journalists who've been killed at war zones in the past few years? In fact, can you name a journalist who's been killed in the Russia-Ukraine war?

No perhaps you carefully examine your motivation in condemning Israel.

Getting back to the point.

The Israeli Government keeps breaking international law and taking land from the Palestinians. It is ethnic cleansing and saying this is wrong is not anti-semitic.

And this, ultimately, is the crux of the matter.

It's all about land.

Some Palestinian families still have the keys to the houses they locked and left when they were fleeing Zionist terrorism in 1948, expecting to return once it had all blown over.

And, as an aside, when stopped people being able to differentiate between anti-Zionism and antisemitism?

  • How far would you like to go back, British colony, Ottoman empire, Romans?

I posted on SM about the Ukrainian journalist whose father was being held.

Am I now allowed to talk about this journalist? Do I get a pass?

Oh come on, Israel has been treating the Palestinian people badly for a long time, it's like they want to eradicate them, even though they have lived there for a very long time. It's obscene.

Yes, agreed. I think people focus on this issue partly because it has gone on for so bloody long. Plus, there are constant encroachments into the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and we wonder where are these people supposed to go? There won't be anywhere for a Palestinian state soon so what is the plan? While a small proportion may be made citizens, politicians have been quite clear that they need to keep the demographic majority, so I can not see what will happen to the rest of the Palestinian population. I can only assume they will be displaced and turned into refugees.

Most people don't criticise the 'Israeli government', they use the word 'Israel'.

And when talking about the UK's actions on the global stage and from overseas people say "the UK." Or "France" or "Germany" or whatever country it is. (Including when talking about past atrocities and present unethical actions, not just in a neutral way. ) That's how people talk, why is the extra differentiation merited in this case?
