I've just seen the videos and have been reading up on this, utterly gobsmacked..
I mean, you'd think they'd have left the funeral take place?

The funeral procession didn't follow the road blocks that had been set up for them and it became a politically charged procession. You are not allowed to hoist the flag or sing the national anthem or chant politically motivated words. They knew this and did it anyway. It was the "mourners" who turned it into a circus

But of course, Israel = bad

Didn't take long for that to be said - it's the Palestinians fault 🙄 - aye right. Having visited Israel and Palestine I saw the oppression and the self righteous thuggery of the Israeli Army for myself. Being against the behaviour of the Israeli Government or its army and police is not being against the Jewish faith. The fact that 'anti semitic' slurs are cast over everybody who criticises the Israeli Government is more likely to incite anti semitism! The constant theft of Palestinian land that is then given over for endless settlements by Jewish immigrants is outrageous. Palestinians are kettled into a ghetto that is a hello hole while prime land is seized by the Israeli government.
Shame on the world for doing so little to stop it.

There is no cause to feel shame any more than I should feel shame for slavery. Lumping people with the same characteristics together is a tactic used by those of ill intent (in this case the Israeli government and antisemites) because they don't actually have a good argument.

how quickly and conveniently you have forgotten the Israeli bombardment of Ghazza, including schools, hospitals and nurseries

Forbidding people to worship and grieve as they want
Telling people what they must wear (even to a funeral)
Telling people they cannot sing their own anthems etc
forcing people into ghettos
Killing people who speak up
Attacking legitimate protest

The Jews went there after the war when they wanted to leave the death camps and the countries that had tried to annihilate them - it was a difficult problem - so I suppose you wanted them to stay at the deathcamps??

Imv it's like the NOrthern Ireland problem - there is no happy resolution to the problem - everyone cannot be made happy.

Palestinian terrorists desist. The UN or someone arranges a shuffling of land to allow Palestinians to return. But the terrorists won't desist. So stalemate.

It is a highly complex issue, I have debated it for years with friends.

The Palestinians have very little land left and while I do not agree with war (let's call it war and not terrorism), I'm not sure what else the Palestinians are meant to do. At the rate Israel is expanding there will be no Palestinian land left. Until the world intervenes then war will continue. Israel will win, they know this.

A 2 state solution seems the best idea, but the seed of hate is deep and I doubt it will work.

And can I remind you that most people who moved to Israel in recent years were not in death camps.

@Ferngreen unfortunately your knowledge of history is pretty slim. The vast majority of Jewish Israeli citizens are migrants, and while the Holocaust is abhorrent that doesn't give Israel the right to persecute and annex Palestine.

Britain has as much a hand in this as any other nation (not good BTW).

@Ferngreen Why should that be a problem for the Palestinians, who had no involvement in the death camps whatsoever? Palestinians welcomed Jewish refugees with open arms in 1947 after the suffering they went through, and look how they have been treated ever since. This is what many, including myself, find so galling - how can you make millions of people suffer after your own suffered so much at the hands of others? How are millions of Israelis complicit with living in an apartheid state for their own benefit, knowing how their own people have been treated in the past? How can you believe in and fight for a state that sees no issue in killing thousands of innocents, in sterilising women without consent to ensure a pure Jewish State, who persecute and abuse on a daily basis?

There are over 5 million Palestinians currently living in the West Bank and Gaza in truly awful conditions, and each day Israelis are illegally taking more and more land and property to accommodate for their ever growing population of Jewish immigrants. Why should millions of people, who have done nothing “wrong” other than be born Palestinian, have to put up and shut up to make room for others who view them as dirt on their shoe and an inconvenience to how they want their world to ideally be? Would you “compromise” and be forced out, eventually seeing total erasure of your heritage or would you fight for the freedom of yourself, your family and for all those who have been killed at the hands of the IDF before you to try and protect your own?

I'm struggling to think how they could help the Palestinians without it being perceived as an aggressive act by the Israeli government, tbh @Ferngreen .

Giving them funding or arms would surely be seen as such, as would trying to reclaim the land they've been forced from.

I believe in the state of Israel and its right to exist. So long as Hamas are in power, Palestine is directly opposed to this. Hamas have been offered a two state solution, they reject it and call for the destruction of Israel.

I'm not defending what happened at the funeral because I don't know enough about what happened to give an opinion.

It's a democracy - but attacking pall bearers at a funeral isn't something a democracy should be doing.

Maybe watch the videos and then tell us your view, like a previous poster said, you can support Israel but also condemn the actions of the Israeli soldiers. Not hard is it?

You are the one talking total bollocks - Israel is not a democracy. A democracy by definition is a society that favours equal rights, freedom of speech and fair trials - including for minorities. It is written in black and white Israel’s desire to have a pure Jewish State, hence why black Ethiopian Jewish immigrants were injected with contraceptives without knowledge or consent upon arrival and on a three monthly basis but American (and other) Jewish immigrants weren’t.

But hey, if the right kind of Israeli woman is treated equally to the right kind of Israeli man then all is well, right?

Get of the thread then, and maybe go watch/read up on what this thread is about and then come back, and maybe just maybe you can admit the disgusting behaviour that was show to the world by the Israeli soldiers. The world is finally waking up to this barbaric behaviour
