So, how many loads of washing DO you do in a week, MN??

PeeAche2 · 11/05/2022 14:29
Inspired by the poor MNer that is doing 4 loads a day... tell me your laundry schedule.
Mine is very straightforward:
2 children and a cloth nappy baby
1 load per day - put in before bed on an eco cycle and hung out the next morning before work.
If I am ill, drunk or forgetful, my schedule falls behind by 1 day and I give zero shits. "Because I do not exist to do your laundry."
If someone pisses the bed, I am willing to do an extra load. But I will be vocal about it.
DemBonesDemBones · 11/05/2022 14:34
Probably about 3 a day. 4 kids, 1 with special needs and a Husband that works 2 jobs both with uniforms 🤦♀️
BeyondMyWits · 11/05/2022 14:34
5...ish a week here.Bedding and a couple of towels today. Dog blanket and bathmat on Friday. Clothes as and when a load builds up, or if needed.
DemBonesDemBones · 11/05/2022 14:35
Oh and I work with kids so no chance of reusing clothes!
Hospedia · 11/05/2022 14:36
A minimum of one a day, with 2 or 3 a day a few of times a week.
There are six of us in the house including two DC with disabilities, DC who do various uniformed clubs/activities, plus school stuff.
InDubiousBattle · 11/05/2022 14:37
7 or 8 a week. Two adults and two (primary)school age dc.
BlossomWind · 11/05/2022 14:37
I don't track it so I don't know! All I can say is we don't do one every day - but we might do two on a Saturday.
Probably ...five? Counting the weekly guinea-pig-fleece-wash.
Teen, preteen, DH, me and two guineas.
KoblinsGiss · 11/05/2022 14:37
2 adults
6 year old in school and wraparound activities
2 year old in FT nursery
1 small dog.
laundry only ever gets done on a Saturday. Two loads on a Saturday. Hung out to dry on ceiling lines in playroom/sunny conservatory - dry and put away Sunday evening.
we have a rule to never do laundry unless it’s a Saturday be wise we hate doing it - and have enough clothes bought off eBay bundles, vinted and marketplace bundles to let that be possible.

Sweet holy hell. I do not envy you.
I have already convinced my family that I am basically Mary Poppins because I work full time and just about manage to run a house. If they knew that other women were doing 3 bloody loads a day, they might fire me.
....
Which might not be such a bad thing. 🤔 🍹 ☀️
PowerfulWombSpaceRespector · 11/05/2022 14:38
A fuckton. HTH.
There's 6 of us and we have a 10 kg machine
Wash towels once a week (3 loads) and sheets slightly less than that, but there's 1 king, 2 doubles and 2 singles so that's another 3 loads.
Plus at least one of clothes a day.
zafferana · 11/05/2022 14:38
I do around 10 loads a week for 4 people (2 of whom do a lot of sport).
Tlollj · 11/05/2022 14:38
I live alone and probably 3/4 a week
Knockon · 11/05/2022 14:38
3 a week max (often 2, but a towel/bedding wash every other week and sometimes an extra load On the odd occasion)
2 adults, DC4 and DC4 months
DemBonesDemBones · 11/05/2022 14:39
@PeeAche2 sounds like you're doing brilliantly
Hugasauras · 11/05/2022 14:39
Maybe 5? Two adults, DD and a dog and cat. About to have another baby though and we will use cloth nappies again so it'll go up to one load a day at least I think, especially if baby is as much of a puker as DD was!
Theoldwoman · 11/05/2022 14:39
I do 2-3 loads a day. No biggie. Clothes on cold cycle, towels and sheets on 60 degrees, pet bedding on 90 degrees. All hung outside.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/05/2022 14:39
4 or 5 a week. 1 adult, 1 child.
1 for towels
1 for bedding
1 darks
1 colours
Whites usually every other week as we don't have many.
FranklySonImTheGaffer · 11/05/2022 14:41
Usually 2 one week and 3 the next.
There are only 2 of us here - he wears mostly dark coloured clothes and lots of mine are light. I do a dark load and a light load every week and every other I do an extra one for bedding etc.
I'm aware I'm a slattern by mn standards though - I happily wash my bath towels, tea towels and bath mat with my clothes and change the bed every other week.
Also, every 6 weeks or so I wash a load of cleaning cloths on a very very hot wash with white vinegar and soda crystals but that's primarily to clean the machine rather than the cloths.
SpindleFibre · 11/05/2022 14:41
Family of 4. One dog. We do about 4 or 5 loads a week. Towels and bed linen washed once a week. But I wear a uniform to work so that helps.
Classicblunder · 11/05/2022 14:41
2 adults, 2 small kids:
1 load per person of clothing
1 load swim kit (usually shove in some extra bits)
1 load household stuff - sheets/towels/bathmats
1 load random - e.g. someone has wet the bed
Works out to about one a day
Wilkolampshade · 11/05/2022 14:42
At least 2 loads a day to keep up, as myself and DH do practical jobs and get proper dirty. Also, DH often needs to change from 'son of the soil' to posh b'stard you'd trust with the family silver in the same day for different roles so that adds to the pile too. DD1 has a proper job in the city bit has few grown up clothes so needs them laundered regularly. She also does a Saturday job in retail with work uniform on top.
It's a lot.
Pinksalty · 11/05/2022 14:43
1 parent, 2 kids. Not one everyday. Probably 4 or 5 a week. 10kg machine though and the kids are getting better at re-wearing stuff and not just default throwing it into the laundry basket. Towels once a week, beds every 2 but obviously more of it’s a sweaty summer or they need it.
ToastedWaffle · 11/05/2022 14:43

I'd say this sums me up, unless there's been a bed wetting incident (6 year old son, not me 😂)
TedOnTheBed · 11/05/2022 14:43
At least 14 but realistic it’s probably closer to 18 with sheets added in. Family of 5, clean everything every day including pyjamas, towels used twice and hair towels once.
TedOnTheBed · 11/05/2022 14:44
I have a 12kg machine
FourTeaFallOut · 11/05/2022 14:44
About 14. Family of 5.
