So, how many loads of washing DO you do in a week, MN??

Inspired by the poor MNer that is doing 4 loads a day... tell me your laundry schedule.

Mine is very straightforward:

2 children and a cloth nappy baby
1 load per day - put in before bed on an eco cycle and hung out the next morning before work.

If I am ill, drunk or forgetful, my schedule falls behind by 1 day and I give zero shits. "Because I do not exist to do your laundry."

If someone pisses the bed, I am willing to do an extra load. But I will be vocal about it.

We're two adults and probably do about 2 loads a week? I tend to mix everything together (whites, darks, colours) unless it's newly purchased/never washed. I've never had any issues.

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 11/05/2022 22:35

2 adults, a 5yr old, 2yr old and newborn with fairly bad reflux. At least two loads a day. If I don't do any one day, takes me ages to catch up. Baby is changed a lot due to being sick. 5 yr old in last year of nursery/preschool and always coming home with changes of clothes from playing with water, etc. 2 year old cannot stay away from dirt 🤣

Frazzled2207 · 11/05/2022 22:38

2 adults and a 8 and 6 yo
6 or 7 a week. But I could probably manage 4 or 5. Slightly smaller loads makes it all more manageable.
do most at the weekends and perhaps 2 during the week

Notdoingthis · 11/05/2022 17:39

Well the double bed is 1
Kids bed 1
Cats bedding 1
Towels 1
So how do people only do 4 or 5 a week?
I do 10 at least. 2 adults and 3 primary aged dc.

No cats here but bedding and towels are
not washed weekly. Nor do they need to be IMO.

tiktokontheclock · 11/05/2022 22:44

2 loads a week and that's everything! We are clean too so what are we doing wrong? Towels, swimming stuff, nursery uniform, bedding...utterly confused about how people are doing 5 loads a day!

TedOnTheBed · 11/05/2022 14:43

At least 14 but realistic it’s probably closer to 18 with sheets added in. Family of 5, clean everything every day including pyjamas, towels used twice and hair towels once.

You wash a hair towel after using it once?!

ToastedWaffle · 11/05/2022 14:43

I don't track it so I don't know! All I can say is we don't do one every day - but we might do two on a Saturday.

I'd say this sums me up, unless there's been a bed wetting incident (6 year old son, not me 😂)

Same. Family of 5.

maddy68 · 11/05/2022 22:48

1 a day. Usually. Often 2

BiscoffAnythingIsTheWayForward · 11/05/2022 22:57

2 adults and 3 boys (filthy blighters 😆)

10kg machine

2-3 loads a day and 6 on a Sunday as bedding and towels done then. I’ve no bloody idea where the F it all comes from 🤣🤣🤣🫣

PeeAche2 · 11/05/2022 23:54

TheyCallMeMaman · 11/05/2022 19:58

I don't humiliate anyone who wets or sicks the bed.
I do about three washes per day. We use cloth nappies and cloth wipes.

Just a joke. Obviously I don't actually berate children for bed wetting. 🙄 Chill.

You are doing nothing wrong!! You are doing the probable normal amount of washing per week. Similar to what I do. Really don't understand those who wash towels / sheets / lightly worn clothes etc every day although really don't care what others do. I'm happy that me and my family are clean and I'm happy with that

XenoBitch · 12/05/2022 00:18

Once a week, twice at a push if I am washing towels or bedding. I live alone.

weegiemum · 12/05/2022 00:27

Me, dh, ds and dd2 (both young adults, I'm assuming dd1 does her own laundry In her own flat 😂).

Probably 4 loads a week for dh and I (he wears fresh clothes to work every day and I'm a terminal dribbler when I eat). Ds (20) is fussy and does his own, 2 loads a week or so. Dd2 (18) needs reminding and is probably 3 loads a week, partially work uniforms).

Then a load of towels at least once a week, and 2-3 loads of bedclothes.

Total on average 12 a week, so 2 per day with Sundays off!

Marvellousmadness · 12/05/2022 05:01

how do you have time left to live life between so many loads if laundry 😅

Riverlee · 12/05/2022 05:17

Dh, dc (young adult), and me - 4+ Per week

How do people get it all dried and ironed?!

saggyhairyass · 12/05/2022 05:29

3-4 a week. There's only me, DH and DD though. Mostly all our uniforms.

Hercisback · 12/05/2022 06:12

Two adults and two under 6 here.
Approx 5 loads per week.
Bedding done every 2-3 weeks. Hand towels done weekly, other towels less often. We do re wear clothes when possible too.

Nodancingshoes · 12/05/2022 06:18

2 colours and 1 whites at the weekend and 1 extra colours mid week. Extra washes for bedding and towels as and when

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/05/2022 06:19

Probably at least 7. I try not to do a load every day but usually do multiple loads when I do wash.
Towels and bedding each week. My DP's uniform too. Large amount generated by 3mth old and toddler. I think the sicking is finally reducing from the baby so this has reduced the washing from at least 1 load a day to being able to miss days and catch up later.
Saying that, I've just fed him and he looks like he's going to puke everywhere.

EveSix · 12/05/2022 06:38

2 adults, 2 DC. Averaging 3 loads a week. But I'm a laundry ogre. Clothes only go in the basket if they're obviously dirty or smell. The only non-underwear items which have a single use cycle are DC1's polycotton school shirts. Towels, which we use to dry our gleaming, clean bodies, are washed weekly. Bedding fortnightly.

Pootle40 · 12/05/2022 06:47

On threads like this I'm always 🤷🏻‍♀️ at the excessive towel washing.

Guess once you start it's a bit of a compulsion or something? Or cost of living hasn't hit us all yet?

chippingin2 · 12/05/2022 07:15

10-11 a week. 2 adults, 2 kids (one cloth bum)

Porcupineintherough · 12/05/2022 07:17

There are 4 of us - 2 adults, 2 teens .
5 loads per week, 8kg machine.

Oblomov22 · 12/05/2022 07:21

Varies. 5 a week? 2 of clothes per week, plus bedding, towels not every week. 2 x teens.
