So, how many loads of washing DO you do in a week, MN??

Inspired by the poor MNer that is doing 4 loads a day... tell me your laundry schedule.

Mine is very straightforward:

2 children and a cloth nappy baby
1 load per day - put in before bed on an eco cycle and hung out the next morning before work.

If I am ill, drunk or forgetful, my schedule falls behind by 1 day and I give zero shits. "Because I do not exist to do your laundry."

If someone pisses the bed, I am willing to do an extra load. But I will be vocal about it.

A load a day here, including getting it dried and putting it away. How do people dry more than that?!

AbsolutelyLoveIy · 11/05/2022 14:44

8

Husband runs daily….

Eranzer · 11/05/2022 14:44

I do about 6 loads in one day and then leave the last one in the washing machine and avoid looking at it because I can't be arsed hanging it out, I'll then rewash it every couple of days with the intention of hanging it out. Cycle repeats every 5-7 days.

So yeah, around 6/7 loads per week. 4 kids, 2 of them being babies, builder DP who comes home filthy, so I don't think it's too bad.

KylieCharlene · 11/05/2022 14:45

2 adults
2 tweens
1 load a day (2 on a Friday).

Hyperion100 · 11/05/2022 14:45

2 adults - 2/3 a week

Weepingwillows12 · 11/05/2022 14:45

Probably 6 a week but tends to be a few loads on the days I WFH and none on office days.

triggery · 11/05/2022 14:45

4 sometimes 5. Darks, lights, towels, bedding. One adult two kids.

PeeAche2 · 11/05/2022 14:45

I also wash our towels in the same load as clothes. Nobody has fungus yet. I know this is a MN sin but I highly recommend it, because then you have more time for hobbies such as reading and playing on your phone.

Roughly about 5 a week but if bedding is included that will bump it up to about 7 loads.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 11/05/2022 14:46

At least 10 a week. 4 adults 2 teens.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 11/05/2022 14:47

2 adults 5 cats o kids.
Around 3/4 a week. Sometimes more if doing curtains, winter coats etc. 2 loads per day is my max due to length of washing line unless it’s particularly warm outside.

Firesidefox · 11/05/2022 14:48

Probably 8 loads a week.

Squillerman · 11/05/2022 14:48

5 DC aged between 1 and 12, youngest is in reusable nappies. I do at least one load a day to keep up with it otherwise I get swamped. Some days I have 3 or 4 loads if I’ve changed everyone’s bedding for example. I’d say 15-16 times a week on average.

Girlintheframe · 11/05/2022 14:49

2 adults

3-4 a week

1xs bedding
1xs towels

2 xs clothes

GoldenPineapple88 · 11/05/2022 14:49

Around 20 a week. 3 kids, 2 adults. Tumble dryer is also on 20 times a week.

Rugby/football and other sports clothing, plus husband's work clothes require serious washing daily. Most have to be washed at 60 degrees (I've tried lower temps many times, but there's no point as the smells/stains won't shift). It's a bit of a nightmare energy wise!

nearlyspringyay · 11/05/2022 14:51

2 adults, 2 kids, DH wears uniform gets sweaty so needs a change every day, I go to the gym every other day, so that needs to be washed, kids ride 2/3 times a week.

6 loads a week BUT towels and bedding go around the corner for a service wash.

ecnatsid · 11/05/2022 14:51

1 every day.

Sometimes 2 per day.

Family of 4, two babies two adults. Nhs uniform and manual labour uniform so they need to be washed frequently too

Singlebutmarried · 11/05/2022 14:52

Erm. My 57 wash load bottle thing lasts 22 days. I don’t wash every day though. I do try to to keep on top of mount persil.

mackthepony · 11/05/2022 14:53

Around 4/5 per week.

Family of four

nearlyspringyay · 11/05/2022 14:54

Making me wonder how they coped in pre-washing machine days!

AffIt · 11/05/2022 14:54

Two adults, both WfH, with gym habits / physical hobbies, no kids.

Average is probably a couple of loads a week (darks / whites), maybe as many as five depending on the bedding / towel use cycle (my standards are pretty low as MN goes).

If I average it out over a month, maybe about 12-15 loads a month? Don't have a tumble drier so hang out to dry when possible, but if not, radiator racks or a on a clothes horse in the back room.

bumblingbovine49 · 11/05/2022 14:55

I do about 4-5 loads a.week. 2 adults and 1 teenager here. I often do them over the weekend so maybe do 2-3 over the weekend and 1-2 in the week,. usually on Thursday/ Friday when WFH. I aim.for an empty wash basket on Sunday night if possible, with clothes either still drying or all folded ready to be put in rooms by bedtime but no stress it I haven't. Then it starts building up again

dementedpixie · 11/05/2022 14:55

Some days I do a few and other days I do none (mainly because there's no space left to hang it)

I did 2 loads today. 2 adults and 2 teens. Dh and I go to gym classes most days and ds plays rugby and does rugby training a few times a week. Most of the washing is sports clothing that can't be reworn without washing first.

hiredandsqueak · 11/05/2022 14:55

One every day, sometimes two, me and two adult dc here.

Comedycook · 11/05/2022 14:56

2/3 loads a day. Sometimes I have enough for one full load but have to do it as two loads because some clothes are dark and some are white. I can't necessarily wait till its a full load as kids need a pe too or football kit or particular item for school.
