AIBU?

So, how many loads of washing DO you do in a week, MN??

Inspired by the poor MNer that is doing 4 loads a day... tell me your laundry schedule.

Mine is very straightforward:

2 children and a cloth nappy baby
1 load per day - put in before bed on an eco cycle and hung out the next morning before work.

If I am ill, drunk or forgetful, my schedule falls behind by 1 day and I give zero shits. "Because I do not exist to do your laundry."

If someone pisses the bed, I am willing to do an extra load. But I will be vocal about it.

I think I do about 3 or 4 a week for me and two DCs but then DH does his own laundry and he seems to do 1 a week. Surprisingly he seems to require fewer clean clothes now he washes it himself.

1-2 a week, but it's just me in the house. Obviously it's more if the kids are home from uni, but they do their own.

Somewhere between 5 and 10 depending on the weather, children's dedication to the mud kitchen, and my level of care about the state of the beds.

2 adults, 3 home-educated children who believe Dirt Is Good, one large fluffy dog.

2 adults 1 teen. I do about 6 loads a week of adult/household laundry and 1-2 loads of teen sports uniform laundry. Teen does his own regular laundry but not very often.

We don't wash towels, bedding or pyjamas at the rate lots on here think necessary though!

Wow, this is eye-opening!

Single adult here and I tend to do 2-3 washes per month, inc. bedding/towels. All colours go in together, my only limit is how much will fit in the machine.

I don't have a tumble dryer and hate having washing hanging about the place when I can't hang outside to dry quickly, so I compensate by having multiples of items. I've got a loads of undies, multiple pairs of the same trousers/tops and quite a paired back wardrobe in general which helps, and I try to only wash things if they're actually dirty. Which reminds me, I need to buy some more trainer socks...

I do laundry most days usually two loads but more if I change the beds. It is never ending. When we move I'm buying a bigger capacity washer.

Wow...when I lived alone I still had so much washing! I'd have run out of clothes if I had only done two washes a month!

@Comedycook

Yeah I used to do more then realised I could get by without. This thread is making me think I should possibly do more though!

Two adults, no kids.

Maybe 3? A couple for clothes and then one of bedding or towels.

We do about 10 for our family of three - our toddler wears a lot of clothes and makes gets very messy very quickly.

Well the double bed is 1
Kids bed 1
Cats bedding 1
Towels 1
So how do people only do 4 or 5 a week?
I do 10 at least. 2 adults and 3 primary aged dc.

I always sort my laundry into whites, coloureds and darks. Do a load every day, sometimes two loads. Can't get head around terry nappies being laundered with clothing. I always washed these separately on the hottest wash. Just me and DH now and all clothes are changed every day.

It's me and DH in our household.
I do 2 loads a week.
One coloured, one white.
When our bedding needs washing (not weekly), I jam it into the white load!

If I was on my own I think I could possibly do a clothes plus whatever else fit in wash every 10 days. Would require more careful putting aside clothing I want to wear on certain days and wearing less favorite clothes. I'd have to buy more summer t-shirts.

2 adults, 1 school age child - 2-3 loads per week. We don't have a dryer so tend to base our washes on the weather so we can get it out on the line.

I reckon between 5-7. Just me and DS. And the cat, but she tends to wear the same thing every day.

Mine's only 7kg and I can fit other stuff in with my double bedding. Cat foster carer I'm guessing?

Report
Comedycook · 11/05/2022 18:18

I have a big machine...10kg I think.

Sometimes the laundry will be the right amount for one load but it will be a mix of colours, darks and whites so I have to do three separate ones.
