Part 3 AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Following on from parts 1 and 2
Trial has gone 'dark' this week as the Judge is at a conference so it's going to be quiet on that front and I expect this thread will run slower than the previous two, however, there is still plenty of material and evidence from the last three weeks that we can 'cross examine'.

Any and all opinions welcome.

I thought that, they've got a lot more time in the last week - works out at about two hours a day for AH so they need to break it up and make it punchy

The problem is, so far, I wouldn't describe AH team as punchy.
Elaine seems to take her time and is constantly asking leading/hearsay questions and she seems to get rattled by this.
Maybe if Rotterborn (sp?) cross examines the rebuttal witnesses, he might be a bit better as he is punchier. So to speak.

Look at me organising AH legal team 😁😬

minou123 · 19/05/2022 23:06

Boulshired thank you. Very useful.

Maybe they will take the weekend to decide if they will call more witnesses or if they have finished.

Boulshired · 19/05/2022 23:16

I do worry that Amber might be telling the truth or she maybe ill- even more serious diagnosis than Dr Curry noted. Unless there is something big coming I really don’t see how she can live a normal life again.

This is my main concern for AH, your latter point. How does she effectively move on from this.

I'm passed caring now who said/did what/used cocaine/shit in the bed and so on. It's all so bizzare, and the whole trial has been a pantomime.

However with every pantomime there is a villain, and AH is now public enemy No1.

I really worry about her mental health and how she will cope. I also worry about her safety. Some JD supporters seem unhinged in the darkest corners of the internet. If he looses this, and one of the "crazy" ones become fixated on her, then what happens.

JD will be fine, he's now adored -im not sure why- and he will keep doing art or gigging with his band and whatever he wants to do.

But AH. Life will never be the same again for her.

TiddyTidTwo · 19/05/2022 23:39

Even though I absolutely believe AH is a narc, a liar and an abuser I also believe she is seriously unwell, has been since a child, and needs help.

Jd isn't perfect either btw

I am concerned about the SM hate towards her. She IS ill imo and after this needs guidance and support to be a better person. She has a child.

Aqua man as the most successful film of all time!!!!!! Why say that. Then aquaman 2 was in doubt because of lack of chemistry

@Boulshired I'm so confused by this! What measure are the using for "success" as Google brings up several lists of worldwide and American grossing lists that don't have Aquaman at the top.

BornBlonde · 19/05/2022 23:48

Another things I've been wondering about is the actual money of who "wins".

Both JD & AH are seeming untouchable in terms of their career just now. how can either of them afford to pay costs to the other? Their legal costs must be huge! I know it was mentioned JD borrowed a huge amount from Bank of America and we know he sold the yacht. But we've also heard his financial planning was a mess. Not clear if he still holds multiple properties.

Amber has only mentioned owning Orange, unclear if that's where she loves with her child.

Is there a possibility they have to go bankrupt if they lose????

TiddyTidTwo · 19/05/2022 23:56

Best outcome:
Amber gets awarded 10 cents
and Johnny awarded $2

For him it's not about the money.

She won't be brankruptec. Truth out

And move on

Maybe they can just "pledge" to pay eachother. 😬

Because it's a synonym for paid these days. I've pledged to pay my rent next month ..I'm sure all will be ok.

(Sorry I couldn't resist)

@TiddyTidTwo How do you know she’s been ill since she was young?

Whycantichill · 20/05/2022 03:24

If anyone follows houseinhabit on Instagram, she disappeared off it tonight 🤷🏻‍♀️She provides lots of interesting info on different cases. It’s all very interesting

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/05/2022 06:46

Other commentators on the case have also had their youtube channels shut down. Seems like a coordinated attempt to reduce bad PR.

Legrandsophie · 20/05/2022 08:03

So a lot of what we’ve heard in the last five weeks has really brought into question the U.K. trial verdict. The judge there seemed to base the whole of his thinking on the ‘fact’ that Amber had already donated her entire settlement to charity. Except she hadn’t.

And I actually don’t think she did it because she was gold digging. I think this was a way to punish him for leaving her and pre-empt any accusations he might make about her during the divorce. He has some completing evidence that she was violent and hurt him. All he would have had to do was show his medical records from Australia and the tapes and she would have been sunk.

So I think that the plan all along was to file the three charges for the TRO to stop him from being able to say that she abused him and then also use that as pressure for a bigger payout and to punish him for leaving her. It is telling that all the accusations are from the end of 2015/ beginning of 2016 because it comes after the audio when he says he is finished and can’t carry on in the relationship and also at the same time he had thrown iO out of the penthouse.

If she hadn’t done that OpEd then she might have gotten away with it too.

IrisVersicolor · 20/05/2022 08:23

No he didn’t. That was incidental. His findings were based on 14 points relating to the da issue. He found that these were substantially true, 12 out of the 14 points being proven.

ENoeuf · 20/05/2022 08:26

To be fair the Court of Appeal found that the new evidence from Depps team about donations wasn't relevant as it hadn't influenced the original judge

Thing is that makes it so much worse. Now the negative PR will be even more as people will be annoyed about others being silenced for their opinion.

Boulshired · 20/05/2022 09:02

The donation on the appeal should have brought her credibility into play not whether it was relevant to the judges decision. That is what I find hard to understand

BonnesVacances · 20/05/2022 09:18

Interesting development. What happens when someone has conflicting testimonies at two different trials?

Part 3 AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain
JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/05/2022 09:33

but unless a complaint is actually made, can anything be done about her lying in the UK? and would they really act on any complaint?

Boulshired · 20/05/2022 09:39

I’m wondering about the photographs for the uk case. They were tested by the Suns forensic expert but Depps expert is expected to rip some of them apart according to the sanctions. It’s clear he is going to discuss the photoshop that camilla brought up.

FartSock5000 · 20/05/2022 10:12

Depp's testimony and some of his witnesses also differ between UK and USA so is this story true or another Amber Pile On? I've seen the same story going back to October 2021 repeated but is there any basis in fact?

BonnesVacances · 20/05/2022 09:18

Apart from the date the alleged abuse began what else is not consistent in AHs testimony from this trial to the UK one?

Is it the sexual abuse she hadn't said about before?

TiddyTidTwo · 20/05/2022 10:45

@TiddyTidTwo How do you know she’s been ill since she was young?

Her abusive father and what he did to her and her sister, both of them testified to this. I think it's true and the the beginning of her troubles. Could be wrong though!

Midlifemusings · 20/05/2022 10:58

It will be very interesting to see how they both use their remaining time. We have four more days of testimony and then closing arguments on Friday (not included in remaining time).

JD's team chose not to use time for cross for most of the witnesses yesterday and they have kept many of their crosses reasonably short. This will give them extra time for rebuttal witnesses and AH's team doesn't have a lot of time left for cross of those rebuttal witnesses - meaning that the end of the trial will be more JD's team than AH's. I wonder how many more witnesses they will call vs keeping their remaining time for cross of the rebuttal witnesses. Such a strategy game!

According to the American Bar Association, rebuttal witnesses are only called by the plaintiff and can only be called to "refute evidence presented by the defendant. This may include only evidence not presented in the case initially, or a new witness who contradicts the defendant's witnesses."

Whycantichill · 20/05/2022 11:40

@TiddyTidTwo Was it physical? I missed her saying that but had heard something
