Part 3 AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Following on from parts 1 and 2
Trial has gone 'dark' this week as the Judge is at a conference so it's going to be quiet on that front and I expect this thread will run slower than the previous two, however, there is still plenty of material and evidence from the last three weeks that we can 'cross examine'.

Any and all opinions welcome.

I think Elaine and all of amber lawyers had prepared a very different case, the refusal of evidence has left them with months of prep wasted. I cannot believe a lawyer as experienced as Elaine becomes inept overnight.

I had not considered that, I think you are right. @Boulshired

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 19:58

So AHs witnesses see it all after the event. But the police officers findings are obviously lies.

Ok the.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 20:00

Then!

Ugh.

Anyway it's ALL hearsay on Ambers part along with obvious perjury in the UK court.

Also AH surrounded herself with her "friends" who ALL took advantage like leeches living in penthouses at johnnys expense.

Not buying it

I think the issue they have is the case they want to argue isn't actually the one being argued.

They want to argue it was not defamation, but JD's team have masterfully spun this in to a "AH is an abuser" case. Which has now snowballed the case. They (AH Team) are unable to argue against that due to the fact there are so many admission from AH of hitting JD. They also have very very weak physical evidence of abuse and very little witnesses to call on. JD has a wealth of not only money but staff and aquantances willing to speak in his defence.

AH also is just not great on the stand. She's not societies perfect victim, we've now gone from dramatic emotions and faces and crying. To a cold, blunt and a "I can't recall" witness. The jury just won't warm to her with this sheer shift in personality on the stand.

So it's all just gone to the dogs for her team, and now they have to try and claw this back, but the horse has well and truly bolted.

JD's legal team are just the better legal team, and they are captaining this trial just how they want it to go. AH's team are now just hanging on for dear life.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 20:01

She's like a certain Russian leader but scaled down to celebrity status.

Played the long game.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 20:11

This encapsulates what I'm thinking

This tweet thread about Jen Howells (Whitney’s former boss) is very interesting. It seems that Amber and her crew have been trying to intimidate witnesses.

Jen Howells deposition.

So, I’m assuming they didn’t bother wasting time with Whitney because there plan is to debunk her whole testimony.

FartSock5000 · 18/05/2022 20:20

I thought the sister did well. She could have lied about seeing him hit her multiple times but she kept it fair, I thought.

Travis MGivern testified that Amber threw a red bull AND a purse or bag down into the kitchen at Johnny. He said that Johnny was in the kitchen.

Where in the photo of the kitchen showing the broken blue thing are these items?

I think I believe Whitney over Travis.

minou123 · 18/05/2022 20:24

I'm trying very hard not to make any conclusions. However sometimes my personal experience and bias is clouding my thoughts.

This witness, Elizabeth Marz, is one of those times.
Her vocal fry is getting on my nerves.

Boulshired · 18/05/2022 20:25

What about nurse Debbie, having trouble remembering what she said apart from no to the red bull

I think they have a plan for rebuttal with Whitney, she will never go against her sister.
Also this is very curious.

@Miscfeminista

I worked in mental health for decades and I can tell you that there are definitely personality disorders and many people have them. The names aren't great and should be changed (and will be changed) but the clusters of symptoms and behaviours they represent are real and the impact that having a personality disorder has one someone's life is significant. For many people with BPD getting a diagnosis is a relief. It gives a reason as to why they feel the way they do and struggle the way they do and it gives a path forward for treatment. For you to dismiss that and think you know that their illnesses don't even exist, that all the research and science is wrong. That experts who have worked on DBT for decades know nothing and that your personal opinion somehow means anything - other than an ectremely stigmatized and discriminatory and dismissive view of all those with BPD and other personality disorder is sad. What are you doing to deny exists next - Diabetes? Depression?

AdriftAbroad1 · 18/05/2022 20:42

So, all AHs family and friends were staying in JDs PHs and documenting his daily life.

If they were prepared to live this awful life, why stay?

Then AH changed the locks?

OK.

Midlifemusings · 18/05/2022 20:46

I think Johnny really felt for Whitney and still has a soft spot for her. He knew that Whitney got the same treatment from Amber that he did. We know Amber had previously beat her up and likely also spoken to the same way Amber spoke to Johnny.

In a family with domestic violence, Whitney was the peacemaker, Amber perpetuated the cycle of violence - neither unexpected when growing up in a home with so much violence and addiction.

Whitney struggled to be deposed. I think she knows she is supposed to support her sister and in a famiy with violence, sisters stick together. But to defend Amber she has to lie - not only about what Amber did or didn't do - but also about her own experiences and that is really stressful. I wouldn't be surprised it Johnny had told his counsel to go easy on her. I think she always was like a little sister to him and he understood her life.

And Raquel Pennington lied outright in the divorce deposition. Her own lawyer had to step in.

Almost no one wants to testify in defense of Amber. All these old depositions - and mostluy from people who are no longer her friends. IO and Raquel got into a physical fight, Amber and Raquel got into a physical fight. So odd to me that friend groups in their late twenties / early thirties are physically fighting

Boulshired · 18/05/2022 20:48

So many witnesses by recorded deposition isn’t doing much. Much better to have live witnesses. You’d think at least one of her friends or ex friends could make the stand.

Agreed.
The same doctored photo, the same witnesses who do not like AH.

3 events seem to define this abuse? In the case of the defense.

Boulshired · 18/05/2022 21:05

So this testimony has brought in Samantha McMillan who Melanie agrees saw Amber prior make up. Who is going to testify the opposite. It is unfortunate that so many testimonies state they are no longer friends.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 21:30

Is this the make up artist who previously testified there were no injuries? Sorry I'm confused as clearing up and putting a wash on Blush

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 21:36

If I was a juror I'd discount all prerecorded testimonies.

I'm not sure if I would discount it. But I think I would realy struggle to pay attention to everything that is said
I think I would probably miss things.

The editing jumps around, so it is quite hard to follow.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 21:45

I'd have to see the whites of their eyes to be able to judge. You can't do that over Zoom or whatever. It's really poor imo.

TiddyTidTwo · 18/05/2022 21:46

Also on the prerecorded the date is 2019. Where are these witnesses now? Too busy? Things have moved on since 2019.

@Midlifemusings what was the lie Rocky was caught out in? I bong know watt was screened in this trial so not really sure of her

That's fair. I don't think your alone with this.

I think your right in that there is a risk for Amber Heards team some jurors will dislike using the deposition testimony this way. (As opposed to the witness giving evidence "live")

Boulshired · 18/05/2022 21:55

amber certainly hasn’t had a “Ben king” witness yet, his testimony I remember.
