Part 3 AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Following on from parts 1 and 2
Trial has gone 'dark' this week as the Judge is at a conference so it's going to be quiet on that front and I expect this thread will run slower than the previous two, however, there is still plenty of material and evidence from the last three weeks that we can 'cross examine'.

Any and all opinions welcome.

Johnny admitted his faults

Only if you think everything she says is untrue? Or did he say he blacked out /nodded off/ did drugs in front of the kids/ was possessive and jealous / was abusive?

I don't recall how far he went in admitting any negatives - I just remember his southern gentleman stuff

AdriftAbroad1 · 17/05/2022 20:23

I am speechless!

@Midlifemusings absolutely re DARVO.

Not looking at her could also go against Depp. Him not looking at her can have so many meanings including not looking at her because of dismissing/dehumanising her.

I don't think it is reasonable to suggest he's not looking at her because he's been so badly abused by her when he's been laughing and joking in the court room personally.

That isn't what they suggested. They played the clip where he told her that he would never look her in the eyes again and she testified that he never had, despite seeing him after that clip was made.

If he looked at her people the amber fans would say he was threatning and trying to intimidate her as he is directly in front of her.

I'd be wondering what they wanted to prevent as a lay jury person

Yeah quite. I just watched that bit and it was ridiculous. Not allowing her to say anything about her own symptoms because she's not an expert 🤔

Did you listen to his testimony? I am unclear how you only remember the Southern gentleman stuff as that was a miniscule amount of the testimony. It doesn't seem possible you only heard that part in the days of testimony.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:29

It's theatre isn't it. The exaggerated rolling eyes and throwing hands up when Elaine objects and puts an argument against an objection is play acting for the jury. So they are swayed to think Elaine is unreasonable. We don't see AH team otherwise I suspect they would be doing similar.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:30

@Midlifemusings yes I did - I said I don't recall so I asked it as a question.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:18

Isn't that what they've been trying to show now?

I've been lurking on this thread

From what I understand, Amber's team is trying to introduce it as verbal testimony rather than an actual document/report.
Amber's lawyer was asking hearsay questions about what the doctor said.

I'm not sure why they cannot produce a doctors report. Presumably Amber's team have the doctors report, similar to the nurses/kipper reports we've already seen.

Bit I could be wrong. It's difficult to understand US civil law

Boulshired · 17/05/2022 20:34

From what I gathered in the document Bryan Neumeister did forensics on all electronic documents. It seems to be that Depps may have got the sanctions regarding disallowing late or unverifiable evidence. The third party they referred to was to separate Ambers privacy.

Miscfeminista · 17/05/2022 20:35

I don't know how you pro Deppers see Amber getting exposed or caught in anything today. I just saw Lala from Teletubbies in frumpy angelic white suit trying to bully AH into admitting thing she didn't say.
Also I don't have an issue telling Depp to suck his own * LOL it was ridicilous to see how she was exclaiming that as something horrendous, as if saying that to a man who literally assaulted her is the worst thing she could have done. This was prime example of victim blaming so applause for that.

On lighter note, I liked AH suit today.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:35

@minou123 thank you. I was finding it hard to follow as it all seems really convoluted - I've never been on a uk jury or in court so I'm not familiar with the idea you can't repeat something or show a text you received and have it treated with caution. I do think the Deuters texts should have been allowed.

Isn't that what they've been trying to show now?

They are trying to sneak in hearsay evidence via Amber’s testimony. None of of those doctors are in her witness list. Why not? We are supposed to believe that she wasn’t allowed them because of Depp’s team suppressing evidence.

But the judge has the final say in what is relevant or not. She reviews the evidence as says if she finds it pertinent to the case. So if those record exist and aren’t being show it is because the providence is dodgy or it doesn’t say what AH wants us to think it does.

But it works both ways. I’d like to know the content of the message that AH sent to a friend with the picture of JD asleep with the ice cream in his lap. Elaine practically jumped out of her seat when it was brought up and we never got to see it because AH team said it hadn’t been redacted enough. I’d like to bet Amber took those pictures to send to her friends to mock him and not out of concern.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:39

You and Amber have a lot in common. Very selective memories. Is it your husband's fault you don't remember what Johnny said?

I ask a question, you offer an insult? Do you weirdly mean my abusive ex husband or my current one?

It is hard to understand, isn't it.

I've been on a uk jury, but it was a criminal trial.
From what I understand, there is a huge difference on what is allowed as evidence in a UK trial to the US, (for both criminal and civil)

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:40

@Legrandsophie thank you. I was trying to follow it - I think I assumed the report existed and was being objected to rather than just bringing it in suddenly.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 20:43

@minou123 yes - I thought I was reasonably intelligent! Some of it seems unfair (like the Deuters texts) but I get that you have to have boundaries around it.

It isn't an insult. How can you watch a testimony and only hear a few sentences that support your view and conviently forget all the rest of the testormny you heard. That is irrational. So my point was...will you like Amber have excuses and blame others for only being able to remember what you want to?

Here is the document filed most recently related to this

What is weird? I replied to your posts saying you watched his testimony but only heard / remember a few specific sentences that confirmed your own biases.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 21:00

@Midlifemusings ok whatever. I asked a question , you think I'm blaming my husband for not knowing the answer. Let's drop it?

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 21:01

Is this IO? I've changed to the independent, but he's filmed? So can't be cross examined?

This is iO. He has already testified and been cross examined. They are replaying his testimony.

ENoeuf · 17/05/2022 21:05

Thank you - so both sides have spoken to him and now the jury sees it?
