Yes I know she's interviewing Boris but for fuck's sake, let him get a word in edgeways, even worse when Adil Ray is on as well.

She's so rude

Somebody triggered CCHQ

ancientgran · 03/05/2022 12:55

No he was rude by avoiding her questions and trying to answer a question she didn't ask. She didn't stand for that and good for her, it wasn't supposed to be a party political broadcast, he was meant to be answering questions.

He was also rude as he was so late, no time for messing about when he had wasted so much time.

pointythings · 03/05/2022 12:56

If you think Boris Johnson has been wiping the floor in PMQs with Keir Starmer then you're not only a complete Tory fangirl, you're also on glue.

Roussette · 03/05/2022 12:57

SueSaid · 03/05/2022 12:07

'He rolls up half an hour late'

He's the PM! I expect he has many more pressing concerns than going on GMB Grin

Well, when you haven't been on for five years, you could just make an effort.

She was great and totally professional.
He wasn't.

Roussette · 03/05/2022 12:58

SueSaid · 03/05/2022 12:14

I just loved 'who's Lorraine' Grin. Poor GMB/Lorraine he really burst their self important bubble didn't he.

That's fine, who cares. But he might've just alienated some of the waverers who expect him to be a man of the people and know who she is.

The interview did its job: made it clear neither he nor his party has an answer to the cost of living crisis.

This!

ClaudineClare · 03/05/2022 12:59

Some of the posts on here are as entertaining as watching Johnson squirming in his car crash of an interview.

Your man is toast. He will be gone in a few weeks.

Don't think you understand the role of Cummings when he was there? Of course advisors advise, and yes the PM could have overruled but it is far less coherent in 10DS since DC left, because these days BJ is running his own show. Badly.

And as for Johnson 'wiping the floor' with Starmer, Johnson's personal poll rating is lower than ever and still falling.

That interview didn't make Reid look bad to the average viewer of that programme, it really didn't. Johnson sounded like a twat.

mustlovegin · 03/05/2022 13:00

neither he nor his party has an answer to the cost of living crisis

Because other parties do?🙄

timestheyarechanging · 03/05/2022 13:01

I think she is absolutely right!

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 13:02

Totally agree that Johnson demonstrated he had zero ideas on how to help with the cost of living, that segmeant was amazingly bad and the idea they are only just now starting to think about people who have high bills due to medical equipment is astoundingly negligent.

The government is just incompetent.

What nonsense. The consensus of opinion is... she did a good interview. Like it or not.
And as for Starmer, he regularly shows up BJ for what he is... a provaricator and a blusterer who makes it up as he goes along

Own goal is how I'd describe this morning's BJ interview

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 13:04

mustlovegin · 03/05/2022 13:00

More of one, for sure - they have proposals and the government is ruling them all out at present. Every other party has identified possible measures to help. The Tories have come up with... fuck all really.

dottiedodah · 03/05/2022 13:05

I disliked her line of questioning .She seemed determined to paint Boris as the bad guy without letting him speak! "Elsie " is actually living in a Band F house which she clearly cannot afford to heat. Riding buses is idiotic ,She needs to move down whether shes 77 or 47! This wasnt an interview ,more the Susanna show .Im no fan of the man ,but this taught us nothing .The war in Ukraine is driving up food prices , Market forces are at play .We dont know what his plans are as we didnt get a chance to find out!

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 03/05/2022 13:09

burnoutbabe · 03/05/2022 10:10

I thought it rude

Though if Elsie is in a band f house that does seem to indicate a very large property?

Band F is property valued £120,001 to £160,000, which in my home town would mean a one flat. So no, it doesn't indicate a ver large property at all.

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 13:09

The war in Ukraine is driving up food prices
And Brexit of course.

DahliaMacNamara · 03/05/2022 13:10

Not convinced by the 'give the man a chance to speak' brigade. Every word he said was either bullshit or self-serving evasions. What's the point of giving that kind of thing a free pass? There's enough of that about already.

Roussette · 03/05/2022 13:10

We don't know his plans because he has none. That much is clear.

She did well, she kept bringing her questions back to the original point whilst he tried to do Ukraine, look what we're doing etc... without saying what that was. She didn't paint him as anything. He painted himself.

Riding buses might be idiotic to you, but there are many people in this country who are facing hardship, and its what Elsie stands for.

I don't agree riding buses is 'idiotic' - the person has no money to pay to heat their home.

Yes Elsie could downsize, but many old people are pretty daunted by that prospect.

The very rapid increase in energy bills with no help from the government is a very difficult situation for a lot of households, in various situations.

ClaudineClare · 03/05/2022 13:14

We dont know what his plans are as we didnt get a chance to find out!

He had plenty of chances to set out his plans clearly, but he just repeats the same old guff. That's because he has no plans to help people other than the £250 fuel loan and the massive £150 rebate for people in council tax bands A-D.

Rubyroseyposey · 03/05/2022 13:15

That kind of interview is necessary, considering that left to his own devices he inanely waffles on so as to avoid actually answering any questions.

balalake · 03/05/2022 13:18

@carefullycourageous I disagree, it is not 'just incompetent'. It is the most corrupt since Macmillan's in the 1950s, has killed more people in this country (through neglect and delay mainly) since the Nazis in WW2, and has only two perhaps three vaguely capable ministers in the cabinet.

If she lives in the same area as @BringBackCoffeeCreams she can't really downsize from a one bedroom flat.

It varies such alot, in Westminster the most common tax band is E, in Rotherham it is A, looking at the council figures it looks like nearly 90% of Rotherham properties would qualify for the £150, I couldn't find the information for Westminster but we can safely say it is nowhere near 90%.

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 13:23

@balalake I agree the word corrupt is appropriate for this government

ancientgran · 03/05/2022 13:24

Moving in your late 70s is going to be daunting, it is also going to cause issues with things like support, maybe from friends and family but also if the council has set it up. How would people manage when moving to a cheaper property in a possibly cheaper area.

I have a friend in this age group, she was planning to move but became ill and needs to be close to the large teaching hospital where she is getting care, moving out of the city now means creating a possibly life threatening situation and that's without thinking of the stress. So she's staying in her 3 bedroomed house and not moving to the one bedroom flat in a supported living complex.
