Yes I know she's interviewing Boris but for fuck's sake, let him get a word in edgeways, even worse when Adil Ray is on as well.

She's so rude

If Boris Johnson allowed an interview which wasn’t live and therefore the host has no option but to push him on answers, what do you expect?

He was giving nonsense answers so she cut across to try and get some decent ones.

why aren’t you asking why Boris Johnson talks shit?

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 10:00

Of course she's paid more than he is. She does a better job.

Unsubscribed · 03/05/2022 10:06

Agree with you OP. Kay Burley's the same, they think they're 'cutting edge' reporters but it's just rude and bloody annoying

SleeplessInEngland · 03/05/2022 10:07

When an interviewee doesn't have an answer it can appear like the intervewer is badgering them. But really it's just that the interviewee doesn't have an answer.

balalake · 03/05/2022 10:08

I did not watch it, but if Mr Johnson was given a hard time then good. Though this presumably means it will be years again before he does another interview with Good Morning Britain.

Please everyone remember to vote on Thursday if you have local elections.

burnoutbabe · 03/05/2022 10:10

I thought it rude

Though if Elsie is in a band f house that does seem to indicate a very large property?

Eve · 03/05/2022 10:11

SpindleInTheWind · 03/05/2022 09:07

Boris Johnson is a hideous, lying, venal bastard.

Susanna Reid isn't.

cant disagree!

ComDummings · 03/05/2022 10:12

If they’re talking bollocks I think it’s fine for interviewers to cut them off tbh

Vallmo47 · 03/05/2022 10:17

BJ needs all the help he can get to stay on topic and actually give an answer. SR is angry after years of trying to arrange an interview. I’m seriously baffled that anyone could defend this joke of a human being. What a damn shame the interview didn’t have time to touch the covid fuck ups and the mess the NHS is in.

It summed him up for me perfectly when SR was describing the struggles of a 70+ lady who has had to resort to spending her day riding the bus in order to be able to afford the costs of living. And BJ praises himself for providing her with that bus pass.

How could anyone DEFEND this man. Jesus wept.

TheHatinaCat · 03/05/2022 10:26

Rude interviewers are par for the course on GMB, aren't they? I don't watch it for that reason. Terrible programme.

ClaudineClare · 03/05/2022 10:27

He did not even have the courtesy to start the interview on time.

Reid made mincemeat of him and made him look like what he is. A bluffing, blustering, lying buffoon who doesn't give a toss about ordinary people.

Also, what was the extreme manspreading about? Channelling his inner Sharon Stone?

Thursday is going to be very interesting.

zoemum2006 · 03/05/2022 10:28

You could give Blojo all the time in the world and he wouldn’t answer a question. The man just waffles and BS’s.

suckingonchillidogs · 03/05/2022 10:35

Why the hell did they cut it short to go to fucking Lorraine talking about the Met Gala. FFS you actually get an interview with him after 5 YEARS but oooh no sorry Lorraine's coming up now. '

Who's Lorraine" did make me laugh tho Grin

Unsure33 · 03/05/2022 10:43

Can I just ask a genuine question . If heating bills have doubled in this first rise why has Elsie’s bill gone up from £17 per month to £85. ?

and from his point of view he said they are putting in packages for parents with disabled children who have to use medical equipment and hardship cases , he should have been better prepared to say what that help is .

Bit I think she was rude and did speak over him . By all means question his replies but personally I thought her own agenda overruled the whole interview and that is not what I wanted to see.

so when he says we are putting in packages to help - ask exactly what are these packages . Then query the answer . Don’t just say you are not helping these people . Or ask when will the help start ?

Unsure33 · 03/05/2022 10:46

For those berating Boris and praising Susana , two wrongs don’t make a right .

she could have achieved her obvious biased aim without being so rude .

very unprofessional.

StrangeCondition · 03/05/2022 10:47

It's not really about Boris, he just happens to be the one she's interviewing today - she's like this with pretty much everyone

OP posts:
EvilPea · 03/05/2022 10:49

Anne Robinson used to do it on watchdog.
all you would get is her having a go at whoever she had on and constantly interrupting.

boris is a complete cunt, but it’s not an interview technique.

ilovesooty · 03/05/2022 10:50

SweetMeadow · 03/05/2022 09:45

Perhaps she did him a favour by talking lots?

His response to the example of 77 year old Elsie, using her free bus pass to stay warm on the buses instead of being at home because she can’t afford to heat it, was to say proudly that he was responsible for introducing that free bus pass… It just shows how out of touch he really is.

And even that was a lie.

myrtleWilson · 03/05/2022 10:50

The issue with Boris - like but more so than other politicians - is that in avoiding live interviews for so long, and his penchant for wanting to avoid the difficult questions and get on to his "message" is that journalists are alive to that as a ploy to waffle on and talk down the clock thereby reducing time for the trickier questions. Now journalists - see for example Beth R doing the pool in India - they've reversed the format and say "you'll get your chance to tell us what you're doing about x in a moment" or "we'll come on to the government's plans in a moment but we must address y first" - it disrupts him and he gets annoyed (see looking at watch and all around him in the India pool interview) and shows true temperament.

SR is following suit

Imabouttoexplode · 03/05/2022 10:51

"Who's Lorraine" was a classic though. His delivery and timing was perfect!

I see no point in interviewing him. He won't give a straight answer, he's a proven liar and is seemingly unaccountable and untouchable.

Susanna wasn't that professional imho. They both dug in and decided to just keep talking over each other. She was very combatative and he just looked like he wanted to smirk, as per usual. He also looked at her legs when she moved towards the end of the interview!!!

Frogslegsbigfeet · 03/05/2022 10:55

Other than Labour supporters making a daft point I can’t quite understand some of these responses. How is it good for her?

If you want to hear a monologue of Reid talking then write to them and ask for it. The point of an interview is to hear the other person speak to ask probing and difficult questions and hear the answers. Not to listen to the interviewer wax lyrical, it’s not remotely “good for her,” it was a shite interview irrelevant of your political leanings. Reid was the star of the show and Boris was just there to listen to her. She got nothing out of him at all.

next time they shouldn’t bother, they can just play a segment of Reid talking shite aggressively.

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 10:58

Are complainants saying they want to see PM on TV and listen to him recite his great achievements? If so, watch PMQs or a party political broadcast. This was an interview. If Boris is unable to marshall an argument, or reply to questions in a coherent manner without waffling and attempting to use distraction techniques to avoid answers, then he should stay at home.

Mystery2345 · 03/05/2022 11:00

Poor old Elsie. Dragged on to national tv for political purposes. I suspect once her story is fully told it may be a bit less simple than riding buses all day to avoid paying for power. Band F is a bit of a giveaway for a start as someone mentioned upthread. Just the usual media exploitation of the vulnerable.

mustlovegin · 03/05/2022 11:01

Why does every interview have to be cut throat these days?

Why does every presenter need to be loud, brash and rude to put a point across?

Why can't people be civil and respectful whilst gathering or delivering information?

Mxflamingnoravera · 03/05/2022 11:06

She tried to get him to answer her questions not just trot out the usual nonsense and platitudes. I'm with team Suzanna.
