Yes I know she's interviewing Boris but for fuck's sake, let him get a word in edgeways, even worse when Adil Ray is on as well.

She's so rude

@ Unsure33
Can I just ask a genuine question . If heating bills have doubled in this first rise why has Elsie’s bill gone up from £17 per month to £85. ?

At a guess (and it IS a guess), she would have come off a fixed price tariff to a variable one. The increase percentages discussed are normally to the maximum cost per unit. If you have a fixed rate, you would be protected from this (perhaps up to a couple of years?), so she would be suddenly a) getting two years of increases at once and b) no longer be on a "special" rate, thus paying the full cost. And that does not even take into account some suppliers who are overcharging customers to allow the company to build up some liquidity.

Mind you - all of this is speculation, but I suspect IF the figures quoted are true, the above would feature into it.

LoveInSlowMotion · 03/05/2022 11:15

I don’t particularly like Susanna Reid but I think she did a good job here. She had 25 minutes and instead of letting him answer every question with his own positive spin, which would actually mean not answering her question at all, she made him actually face the questions she was asking. She wouldn’t have to be ‘rude’ if he stopped trying to avoid the issues and questions put to him.

He knows that people are generally worse off and he knows many people have nothing left to cut back on. I’m glad she called him out on his ‘we’re doing all we can bullshit’. I don’t deny he’s in a tough spot, he’s faced some very difficult times while being Prime Minister, but that’s the job he took.

He absolutely must do more for the very poorest and most vulnerable in society. Even with cutting back, they simply don’t have enough money to pay bills, god forbid they expect any sort of comforts. It needs highlighting and I’m glad she gave him a hard time, it’s nothing in comparison to what the poorest are facing.

Look at his face throughout the interview, he loves this shit anyway. Boris is an attention seeker with a big ego. He smirks his way through most of it and seems to find Susanna very entertaining, he treats it like a sparring match. And with his ego, no doubt he thinks he came out well anyway. The man has no shame.

Who’s Lorraine? was brilliant. 😂

Unsure33 · 03/05/2022 11:16

@WhatdoImean

thank you . And I guess as she is in band f she must have a large house as well .

Unsure33 · 03/05/2022 11:18

Yes but if he had time to watch Lorraine he would be criticised as well . I think he knew who she was and she makes her political views extremely obvious .So he knows she hates him , she might as well wear a Tee shirt .

Unsure33 · 03/05/2022 11:21

I don’t have a problem with her giving a hard time , but she was rude , spoke over him , did not always query his answers in the way she should of. Sorry I thought it was pretty bad .

like I said when he said they were putting in packages to help people like the family who were struggling she should have said , “ when? And what packages ? How will people access these packages?

but she just carried on regardless .

Boris Johnson is a hideous, lying, venal bastard.

Susanna Reid isn't.

This.

Also, I am absolutely convinced the Tories have people who regularly create and contribute to pro-Tory/anti-Labour content on Mumsnet. I don't know anyone in real life who thinks Boris is anything more than a lying toad, not even die-hard Tory boomers.

Theres worse things he could be watching. 🚜

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 11:28

And I agree as well. Finding someone who will admit to supporting Boz in real life is near impossible. Too embarrassed perhaps? I live in a wealthy blue area in the South. Thursday's results will be interesting.

StrangeCondition · 03/05/2022 09:21

Yes, I don't have an issue with her questions and Boris is everything you've said he is but what's the point of an interview and not letting him answer?

Because it would just be more lies, bluster and incoherent waffle

QuentininQuarantino · 03/05/2022 11:40

He is odious.

SR: 78 year old Elsie has to ride a bus with her 24 hour bus pass every day to keep warm as she cant afford energy at home and only eats one meal a day.

BJ: Oh, well I introduced that 24 hour bus pass!

Why bother letting him answer? You'll only get lies. He will waffle, gibber randomly and lie constantly.

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 11:43

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 09:03

Rude? Well, tut, dear me, we expect better from the ladies don't we? Early start for the Boz fans today. Susanna was excellent and the PM was his usual smarmy, shifty, evasive self. 'We have cut National Insurance' 😅

Spot on 👏🏻

Youaremysunshine14 · 03/05/2022 11:47

I think she did a brilliant job. It was a live interview with a strictly controlled amount of time and because Johnson bumbles and waffles and talks nonsense 99.9% of the time she had to keep cutting in to bring him back in line. If he'd had his way, he'd have answered 'aren't we being nice to Ukraine' to every question and she was really skilled at holding him to account on the cost of living stuff. Plus, he is a liar – it was Ken Livingston and the GLC who introduced the freedom bus pass poor Elsie has to rely upon to stay warm.

She can’t eat her house or use it to pay her heating bills, can she?

Sirzy · 03/05/2022 11:50

They have a very limited time to get the questions in. If they left them to waffle then nothing at all would get asked

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/05/2022 11:56

Mistlewoeandwhine · 03/05/2022 11:24

I absolutely agree.

I can think of a few usernames off the top of my head

espressocroissant · 03/05/2022 11:57

There's a interviewer on Lbc radio (female don't know name) that speaks over, interrupts repeating her question in a shouting condescending manner without listening to the answer, if the interviewee is lucky enough to keep his/her cool and manages to get his/her answer across, then the interviewer continues pounding with the same question twisting it. Listening to it infuriates me, I've changed channels many times and asked Uber drivers as well because I can't stand this type of interview technique where the interviewer is in a studio and the interviewee connecting from a phone that is much quieter and much more in a disadvantage to be able to hold a civil interview. I haven't watched/listened to BJ and Reid interview yet and would be surprised if she's the same person on LBC.

Sirzy · 03/05/2022 11:50

It would just become a party political broadcast, see Kuenssberg interviewing Johnson for examples

baroqueandblue · 03/05/2022 11:58

mustlovegin · 03/05/2022 11:01

Why does every interview have to be cut throat these days?

Why does every presenter need to be loud, brash and rude to put a point across?

Why can't people be civil and respectful whilst gathering or delivering information?

You've just described Boris's communication skills to a tee

Callipygion · 03/05/2022 12:02

StrangeCondition · 03/05/2022 09:45

So why bother with the interview?

Why bother listening to the whole of his answer if it’s clearly apparent he’s talking a load of bullshit. If she’s stopping him do that then good for her!

Roussette · 03/05/2022 12:04

Rude, my arse.

He rolls up half an hour late, and he expected to do the usual blustering won't answer a question routine... and it did not work.

I did not see her not letting him answer, she just got across when he tried to say the same old thing again and again... Ukraine, look what we're doing, I didn't lie etc

She wasn't rude, she was thorough and she questioned him. He's not used to that is he

Roussette · 03/05/2022 12:05

*she just cut across when he tried to say the same old thing again and again

SueSaid · 03/05/2022 12:06

She just seemed so amateurish and out of her depth, constantly interrupting someone isnt a very good interviewing skill. Then they wonder why people won't go on their show.

Maybe she was doing a Sharon Stone/Angela Rayner to distract him, dont think hes able to communicate well with strong women
