Yes I know she's interviewing Boris but for fuck's sake, let him get a word in edgeways, even worse when Adil Ray is on as well.

She's so rude

@Hrpuffnstuff1 , doing something wrong? Like getting old or infirm?
Goodness, your blinkers are truly on and working.

@pointythings,precisely what you say.

To all those saying, in affect, "well I'm ok, so everyone else should be, and if they aren't, it must be their own fault". Have you no compassion? That's a Rhetorical question. Do you so lack imagination you cannot conceive of different people being in different circumstances than yours, for no reason except bad luck?

I can’t stand any interviewer asking questions and not letting anyone answer. I don’t watch GMB so don’t know if this was the case this morning. I just don’t see the point.

If the “answer” is bluff, lies, or obfuscation it isn’t the interviewer’s job to enable them.

IsobelElsie123 · 04/05/2022 18:13

I am no fan of BJ, but this cost of living crisis is just another issue the country has had to deal with (brexit, covid, invasion of Ukraine, oil prices etc). I for one wanted to hear what he had to say, rather than being shouted down. Also, who cares if he doesn’t know who ‘Lorraine’ is?

Glogirl1 · 04/05/2022 18:21

Can’t believe anyone would defend that slimy toad Boris. If anything, Susanna was too reasonable. He had plenty of time to speak. We are in for a massive amount of economic pain because of him and his greedy corrupt party who look after their own interests at the expense of the country.

Blossomtoes · 04/05/2022 18:29

We have another 5 or 6 trips abroad booked this yr, people are saying the same

The only people I know saying this are retired travel crazy friends with a backlog of holidays from the last two years. When do people have time to take off from their “well paid jobs” to take as many holidays as this?

decentchap · 04/05/2022 18:41

StrangeCondition · 03/05/2022 09:21

Yes, I don't have an issue with her questions and Boris is everything you've said he is but what's the point of an interview and not letting him answer?

The above both are slime in my view for very different reasons.

BeBopaLula75 · 04/05/2022 19:20

I liked her interview. Johnson is notorious for waffling and talking nonsense so that he doesn't have to answer any ques. He's avoided any proper interviews for too long and his opinion of women is pretty low. Good on her, I say.

mustlovegin · 04/05/2022 19:24

Also, hasn't the cost of living increased in other countries as well?

Don't be daft, we've just come back, the airports are packed with travelers old and new.
We have another 5 or 6 trips abroad booked this yr, people are saying the same.
Business Revenue is up, Dp has had a 5k pay rise with bonuses reinstated.

Only on Twitter are people whinging about the economy.

If you cannot get a well-paying job in this climate then you're doing something wrong.

I'm nearly 70 and my husband's carer, my husband is 75 and disabled. Are we doing something wrong because we can't get well paid jobs?

Our pension increases combined won't pay for the increase in council tax and gas/electric DD. So petrol, food and all the other increases are going to come from where?

ancientgran · 04/05/2022 19:43

Blossomtoes · 04/05/2022 15:11

The economy is so tanked record numbers are flying abroad every day

You do know how many holidays were paid for and cancelled two years ago? We’re flying off tomorrow for our 2020 holiday.

Hope you have a good holiday.

My neighbour is soon going off on her cruise that was cancelled in 2020.

Full fact has produced a fact checker from todays I/v.

Also spotted on the web page of your link:

Angela Rayner repeats misleading claim that families are £2,620 'worse-off'.

We have asked Labour repeatedly to properly explain or withdraw this claim, but it has done neither. At the time of publication, it also continues to use it in political adverts on Facebook and on campaign leaflets on sale to its supporters.
Households are certainly facing a historically large fall in living standards this year, but Labour’s estimate appears to overstate the size of it significantly.

She used to be nice before GMB

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2022 19:47

Spain & Italy have introduced a windfall tax. France capped electricity increases to 4% and lower income households received a cheque for €100. Denmark similarly offering financial package for lower income house holds.

Thanks Clav. Will look.

derxa · 04/05/2022 19:49

I wonder if Elsie has accepted a business man's kind offer to pay her heating bill.

At least she hasn't said it 9 times. In Parliament.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/05/2022 19:52

I maybe she’s sick of hearing him waffle on (and lie) forever and was trying to pin him down

balalake · 04/05/2022 19:53

@BeBopaLula75 Mr Johnson is a misogynist pure and simple, who treats women even worse than Charles II did. At least Charles II acknowledged all his own children.

ClaudineClare · 04/05/2022 19:54

Honestly Clav, all politicians bend the truth but Johnson is the absolute master. Ypu can cut and paste Labour's fibs til the cows come home, but no-one else comes close to Johnson's pathological levels of lying.

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2022 19:58

So the fall is estimated by FF somewhere between £1100-1200.

If that is correct- and I'm not going to argue with them - Rayner's figured should be withdrawn and corrected. I'm not so Party political that I won't listen & acknowledge valid criticism.

But whilst I know there on those on this thread that can cheerfully lose £1100 (on their 5th mini break) there are many that can't and it will mean making difficult choices.

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2022 20:00

She seems like a decent public spirited person. Maybe we should get her in Parliament.

Starmer frustrates Reid and Madeley as he bypasses National Insurance probe 5 times.
Mr Madeley and Ms Reid however persisted in their line of questioning, each repeatedly calling on the Labour leader to outline his party's position on National Insurance.
The Good Morning Britain presenter said: "So you would reverse it?"
The Labour leader ultimately conceded Labour does not currently have plans for National Insurance.

Starmer's national insurance claim.

4 May 2022 Channel 4 FactCheck verdict

In a conversation about the government’s changes to national insurance, Keir Starmer said that “most families will be much worse off.”
That may be true for the period April 2022 to July 2022. For those three months, most workers are paying a higher rate of national insurance (a tax rise) and have yet to benefit from an increase to the national insurance threshold that’s slated for the summer (which will be an effective tax cut).
But the independent Institute for Fiscal Studies tells FactCheck that across the whole financial year (April 2022 to April 2023), the majority of workers will pay less national insurance than they did last year.

She seems great but she isn't riding around on buses to keep warm. If she is then shame on her six children

He's a shameless mysoginist and a complete arse who believes that the public are in awe of his ability to talk shite in English AND Latin. I also hate it how so many people refer to him as Boris. It's not even his name and he's not their mate. Even my own lovely mum started it so I asked if she'd ever referred to Theresa or David or Tony or Gordon. She stopped immediately.

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2022 20:26

Loving the dial in from Tory HQ. Shame I'm going out soon 😁

NI - Shouldn't it depend on the state of the economy and public finances when he goes in to Government? Are you going to provide a rock solid prediction? 2023 gdp projections have UK as the lowest in the G7.
Although I suppose manifesto promises aren't worth a great deal...

Don't pussyfoot about Dexra - if you going to call the woman a liar go ahead, you are not in Parliament. But even if she lives in Hampton Court Palace and has the heating in 24/7 I'm not sure it neutralises any discussion about rises in the cost of living, they aren't mythical to everyone.
