To buy an official oodie rather than a much cheaper replica?

tomatoandherbs · 27/04/2022 16:36

oodie offer on. But one get one free. So £84 for two.

good deal but…. The replicas are substantially cheaper than the oodie offer price.

any thoughts re those that have experienced both?!

many thanks

Dunelm one is great washes well is more thick fleece than fluffy
..lighter than an oodie but dries quick its thicker than the primary version.... which is great as DS lives in his

SoupDragon · 28/04/2022 17:58

I've had The Sienna ones from Amazon and the inside fluff has gone all horrible and flat/clumpy.

I don't agree with oodies or blanket hoodies, they're slovenly.

You sound like Mary from gogglebox 😂

I don't agree with oodies or blanket hoodies, they're slovenly.

FFS people are buying them to keep warm without putting the heating on. Fits in rather well with Martin Lewis's latest advice about 'heating the person not the home' to try and cope with the massive increases in energy prices.

On the matter of offers, for the branded ones they're endless but right now might be a bad time to buy one as demand will be low, so they'll be selling them at 'full' price so they meet regulations meaning they can claim that £84 or whatever really is the right price and you're getting the deal of the century you must buy now because they're less than half price until the next offer starts tomorrow.

I bought a Kuddly a couple of winters ago and it's very warm and lovely quality. I read some online comparison with the Oodie and it says the Kuddly was slightly warmer/nicer/longer and a bit cheaper, although it depends what offer you get.

clpsmum · 29/04/2022 06:37

The real ones are definitely worth the money

WeCouldBeSpearows · 29/04/2022 06:40

I disagree. They have to create demands at this time of year, which they do by offering them at lower prices than normal. Coming up to the coldest time of the year, people are actively seeking them (for warmth and for Christmas gifts), so they have no reason to discount heavily.

I think it unlikely that you'll get an offer as good as or better than two for £49/four for £79 coming up to their busy season, not for the actual oodie or kuddly brands.

Why?!! Just googled what these were (yes, I am out of touch!), but dear god, they are ugly pieces of clothing.
Why pay a fortune to look look a fat sausage-filled blanket?! 🙃

The point of them - which you have spectacularly missed - is to keep warm and save money on bills.

AuspiciousKat · 29/04/2022 07:31

My 11 year old has been requesting one of these for months and is really hoping for one for her birthday 🙈

My friend's Dd has a kudd.ly, which was really nice too and I do like the current offer on at the moment.

If I do get my 11 year old an oodie, do we just get the full size one? Will it be enormous? I noticed there are child ones...

The real ones are much warmer, luxurious snd better stitched/finished

(DS1 has a real one, DS2 a fake, so can compare)

Why?

They are very warm and very comfortable and I've had to put my heating on precisely twice this winter. Some people go home from work and put on their pyjamas. I put on my oodie.

My £50 investment has saved me at least £350 in heating bills in just one winter. I live alone so nobody else sees it - but actually if I did live with people, I would make sure they weren't the kind of people that would be judgemental about putting warmth and comfort ahead of looking stylish when lounging around at home.

They're for snuggling up in while in the house, not for going out to dinner ffs. They don't need to be flattering any more than say, your duvet needs to be flattering. The point of them is to serve a practical purpose of providing warmth and comfort, at home.

DeusInAbsentia · 29/04/2022 10:22

How did you wash it? Mine have been fine and we have three between the family.

i’d contact amazon because that shouldn’t be happening.

Chaoslatte · 29/04/2022 10:32

I have a Primark one and DH has a real one, his is definitely heavier/thicker than mine. Both are good though - our choices were based around which designs were available where.

Indicatrice · 29/04/2022 10:47

It's a shame we can't all club together and do the 4 for £79 deal. I'd only want one and I'd buy for £20.

AuspiciousKat · 29/04/2022 13:22

Can I just check that the normal adult one will be fine for an 11 year old?

Beautiful3 · 29/04/2022 14:05

@AuspiciousKat Yes it will. An adult's fits both my 9 and 12 year old girls. It's baggy, but they still love it.

I would recommend two. You won't want to be without one for two days while it dries...

WeCouldBeSpearows · 29/04/2022 15:28

I've just taken delivery of 2 x kuddlys. I have to say they are definitely longer than my oodie - but nowhere near as thick, warm and luxurious. I'm slightly disappointed tbh.

Puffalicious · 29/04/2022 15:38

Surely Oodies are not on sale 4 for £79? That can't be right. I thought it was 2 for £84. I paid £268 for 6, so about £45 each and thought that was a bargain.

AuspiciousKat · 29/04/2022 15:46

Does anyone have an avacado one? My Dc has her heart set on it... I'm just not as keen and would have gone neutral if it was up to me! Oh well 🙈

No, kuddlys are.
