tomatoandherbs · 27/04/2022 16:36

oodie offer on. But one get one free. So £84 for two.

good deal but…. The replicas are substantially cheaper than the oodie offer price.

any thoughts re those that have experienced both?!

many thanks

I've got two non-Oodie ones - a Primark one, which is v thin comparatively but comfy and good enough for not-as-cold days, and this one from John Lewis which is identical to my sister's Oodie (thickness, weight, shapefor less than the offer price you're paying. I live in it 😅

housemaus · 27/04/2022 19:52

Christ, the mumsnet update is mangling links too now - sorry!

sparkysdream · 27/04/2022 20:05

can Anyone link to the Oodie offer- I can’t find it but would be tempted at buy one get one free, thanks

loopylu26 · 27/04/2022 20:19

I've an Oodie and one I bought off Amazon. Equally warm and wash the same. I'd save your money

Jimmer253 · 27/04/2022 20:25

My daughter treated herself to an official Oodie (On a half price offer - they’re a bit like sofa company’s….there’s always a “sale” on🙄) and my boyfriend bought me a ‘knock off’ from Costco. There is zero difference in quality, warmth, fashion etc just a MASSIVE difference in price 🥴

HunterHearstHelmsley · 27/04/2022 20:26

IsadoraQuagmire · 27/04/2022 16:54

I don't have an Oodie, but do have a Kudd.ly which is v similar in price and quality. I also have a cheapie from Amazon. The Kudd.ly is MUCH warmer, thicker and nicer.

I have an Oodie and a kudd.ly. The kudd.ly is loads better! The Oodie only really comes out when the other one is in the wash now. It's bigger, cosier.

Hallyup89 · 27/04/2022 20:26

Some of the cheaper ones are thin, some are thick, they're all different. My kids have a variety. I wouldn't waste money on an official one though. It's literally an overpriced blanket with a hood.

Talia99 · 27/04/2022 20:27

I have a genuine oodie and it’s more like a wearable blanket than an item of clothing. I wear it with fleecy socks and it has let me turn the heating down 4 degrees. I’m a fairly cold person but it keeps me really warm. I think with the knock offs, you’d need to see how good each type is individually.

montysma1 · 27/04/2022 20:28

I got my kids a cheapie and got me the real thing!

There us no comparison. Oodie much better and kids keep stealing mine!

FindMeInTheSunshine · 27/04/2022 20:34

I've got a Winthome. I'm very impressed with it, and has really good reviews, so not just me. I've never seen a real oodie though, so I don't know how it compares!

TheChurchOfEli · 27/04/2022 20:38

Cheapy from Amazon. It’s so thick I can’t do anything but sit and vegetate. A friend oodie was nice but not worth the price difference imo

BananaBender · 27/04/2022 20:47

Here's the link to the offer:

I've just recently bought two. One for me and one for my DD. OMG, they are so thick. Quite heavy too. I had to take it off after about 20 minutes because I was sweating. DD loves hers. It's not winter yet where I am but once it is I'll probably like my Oodie more. Definitely has very long arms on it.

Iamtired2022 · 27/04/2022 20:57

Oodie definitely 100% I bought one off ebay which was brand new as an unwanted Christmas present and it's the best thing ever. It's so so warm and thick but I get cold so perfect. I then wanted to get another for when it was in wash so purchased direct from oodie and ordered the tweety pie limited edition. When it came it wasn't as warm and thick so emailed their customer service. They were brilliant and within 2 days I had a replacement of a non limited edition which they told me to choose from. The limited edition ones are printed differently and don't have that thick fleece lining. They don't state this though which I did tell them. My son has a primark mens pizza snoodie and the quality is so poor and thin. Personal preference but I would definitely recommend. I have literally lived in mine since February as got covid / now long covid so money well spent

What age to move from kid to adult size?

StarDolphins · 27/04/2022 21:03

I have 3 - official oodie & 2 replicas & the Oodie IS heavier(so warmer in winter)& longer BUT the £16-£20 ones are warm & lovely. IMO, the Oodie isn’t worth the extra!

silverbubbles · 27/04/2022 21:09

I bought my son a kudd.ly and I was really shocked about what poor quality it was. really nasty. I sent it back.
Go Primark, i don't think the premium ones are worth it.

idril · 27/04/2022 21:12

We have fakes and the real thing. The real thing is so much warmer. We got ours on bogof £84 and for that price it is definitely worth getting the real thing.

I am sat in mine now!

tomatoandherbs · 27/04/2022 21:12

Bought 2…. Total cost £84 because buy 1 get one free

will sell the other one BNWT before Christmas for probably not much less than the amount as I paid for both

can’t wait!

I've never tried one (I would invariably just feel smothered and annoyed in one, I'm weird about things like that but if I was buying one for someone else, I think it depends how much cheaper really - I would definitely be wary of going on Amazon and ordering one for £20, or going somewhere like Primark where i reckon they're unlikely to be as thick and blankety as a proper one.

But my SIL got one from John Lewis by a brand called Ony Original and it felt very thick and luxurious to me, quite heavy and very soft, not just like a scaled-up normal hoodie. She said it was about £40 I think? But I don't think I've ever actually seen a genuine Oodie branded one in the wild, so not sure how it would compare! If you're getting two for £84, and you will either use both or could give one to someone else, then that seems like a good deal really.

Yes we got the kids one from new look that I believe is Ony. Really thick and warm. The adult ones are £40 but if you can get an original Oodie for £44 (if you buy two!) it may be worth getting an Oodie.

Springandsummerarecoming · 27/04/2022 21:23

Where are you finding the bogof? I’ve just looked and it’s two for £109?

MiniatureHotdog · 27/04/2022 21:32

We have both and there is a huge HUGE difference in quality and warmth between the real deal and the cheaper versions. My real one is so thick and plush and just feels like I'm being hugged! If you think that you would wear it lots then definitely invest in a proper one.

blueseahorse · 27/04/2022 21:35

It depends how cold you get. I have a real one and love it but can only wear it in the depths of winter when it’s freezing cold because it’s so thick and warm. I might get a cheaper one for the rest of the time because I much prefer the style to that of dressing gowns.

I’ve got a kuddly… I love it! Definitely worth paying for the brand on this one

What age to move from kid to adult size?

About 14 years old according to the Oodie website's sizing. Perhaps once they're close to their adult size and height? I bought an adult size for my 12yo DD and she loves how long it is on her. It's down to her ankles. She doesn't have much more growing to do but she loves how big it is on her.
