Mum thinks this dress isn't right for wedding

Going to a wedding in a couple weeks. Saw a gorgeous bardot dress, loved it, fiance loved it so ordered it and I love it in real life too. However I sent a pic to my mum who just texted back "I don't like it for a wedding" then didn't say why or anymore? Am I breaking some kind of etiquette? Clueless about these things. Most weddings I've been too I've been the bridesmaid or the bride and don't have a clue how guests dressed. I do remember a wedding a few years back where I wore a red polka dot dress. Don't know if that was breaking any etiquette rules. I do believe that mother likes that dress though! I will attach a pic of the dress!

It’s lovely but looks more for the beach. Also assuming the wedding is in the Uk you might be cold!

Somethingneedstochange · 24/09/2022 08:01

Too short

The least she can do is report back now to let enquiring minds know how it went and what she choose. 😤

Somethingneedstochange · 24/09/2022 08:05

Something like a maxi dress would be more suitable. You could wear it again on holiday.

LetHimHaveIt · 24/09/2022 08:06

She did. Back in May. Filter by 'See All OP's Posts' - there are five - and you'll see she apparently chose a workaday blue flowery dress only fractionally more suitable for a wedding.

Hey original poster back here. Can't believe this post went viral 😳🤣here is the dress I went for in the end. Hopefully it's appropriate and ticks all the boxes etiquette wise.

Here's the update

Moveoverdarlin · 24/09/2022 08:15

I’d pop that on over a bikini on the beach whilst I nipped to the loo or got a drink. Then I’d screw it up and shove it in my beach bag until the next time I needed to wear it. It’s 100 percent not suitable for a UK wedding.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/09/2022 08:18

very strange choices

OnTheBrinkOfChange · 24/09/2022 08:20

I think this is a reverse. You are the mother aren't you?

ShepherdMoons · 24/09/2022 08:23

It's not really suitable for a wedding. Looks like something I'd wear to a BBQ at a friend's house. I'd look for something a bit more fitting for the occasion.

jollygreenpea · 24/09/2022 08:26

Check the date on the original post it's from 25/04/2022.

The op didn't wear the pink dress in the end, instead chose a blue flowery one that wasn't much better.

mam0918 · 24/09/2022 08:31

I had a casual barn wedding so summer dresses where fine at mine but for formal weddings (which most are) this is too casual.

Luxurysleuth007 · 24/09/2022 08:54

For fancy dress/ knocking about on the beach maybe. For a wedding, absolutely not. It’s vile and looks exceptionally cheaply made. Sorry your mum is right on this.

OriginalUsername3 · 24/09/2022 08:59

Perfect for a beach wedding!

OriginalUsername3 · 24/09/2022 09:00

Ffs 🤦‍♀️

felineweird · 24/09/2022 09:06

I would say a bit too casual unless a quite informal wedding

Yesthatismychildsigh · 24/09/2022 09:27

It’s a beach dress. Not suitable for a wedding or the time of year.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 24/09/2022 09:29

Ah just saw this is an old thread so time of year irrelevant. But it does look cheap and nasty.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 24/09/2022 09:35

Everyone saying if it’s not formal it’s fine, it’s bloody not fine, it’s a wedding!!! Have a bit of pride and make an effort, Jesus!

BusyBeaMe · 24/09/2022 09:38

It’s pretty but more of a holiday/beach cover up.
also too summery for November.

Moonlight75 · 24/09/2022 09:42

Zombie. Why did they revive this old post

KimberleyClark · 24/09/2022 09:43

Mum thinks this dress isn't right for wedding
Viviennemary · 24/09/2022 09:49

I agree with uour mum. It is totally unsuitable. Far too short. Its a beach dress I would say.

Fcuk38 · 24/09/2022 10:08

Your wearing that in October? You’ll will be cold. But not wedding attire this is a casual weekend high summer dress.
