My friend is expecting her first baby. I spent weeks and weeks knitting baby clothes of every description. We met for a coffee in a very quiet cafe and I handed over the bulging bag excited to give them to her. She grabbed the bag, said thanks and without even looking inside put it on the floor. I was a bit taken aback after all my hard work that she had not even looked inside. I still didn't even when I left.

I know, I've been looking through but without knowing what to look for it's tricky. I'm looking for hand knitted sleep sacks like the picture OP posted in 'completed'. I've found two contenders.

How did the conversation come about to begin with when she asked you to knit her some bits? Did you pick the designs together? Yeah I’m looking on eBay, I’d love to see your work… what yarn did you use? Was it acrylic or an expensive brand like Rowan?? I just can’t believe the audacity of that woman. Such a shit lie about the theft.. I’m wondering are you making this up????

YANBU. Genuinely incredulous at the people think it’s perfectly okay to receive a gift of hand knitted items - hours and hours of work - and just shove it on the floor without looking at it or ever commenting on the care / thought / effort / kindness etc etc. It’s basic good manners to thank someone for the gift and to comment on an aspect which was appreciated. ‘Thank you for the lovely hand made clothes! Can’t believe how beautiful the little cardigan is! You are so kind to have spent so much time on these gifts.’ Really not difficult.

Even worse are the lies and selling it all. What a cow.
