Supermarket when you’re covid positive

Not to start a bunfight, I just want to know. Would you go supermarket shopping when you were testing positive?

OP posts:
Remmy123 · 15/04/2022 14:48

Nearly everyone I know didn't even have it as bad as a cold.

I do not thjnk it's easy to pass on in a large supermarket (with mask on)

Gilly12345 · 15/04/2022 14:49

No definitely not, I would ask a friend or neighbour to help me out.

NeverChange · 15/04/2022 14:55

No. I think it's selfish & inconsiderate.

Online shopping.
Asking friend/family to drop it off.
Ring supermarket they might get someone to drop it off as a once off.
Send a taxi.
Ask for support on social media etc.

Crimesean · 15/04/2022 14:59

No. Although I did have to go to the pharmacy yesterday to collect a prescription (DH and DS are on holiday, where I should be if it weren't for being covid positive Sad). I called the pharmacist to ask him to hand my prescription over outside to minimise the risk of infection. Not ideal, but I really need my medicine and had no-one to go for me.

theotherfossilsister · 15/04/2022 15:00

Only if I absolutely had to and there was no one to shop for me. I once did a shop on the way back from a PCR which I thought would be negative then it came back positive and felt quite bad about it.

Throwntothewolves · 15/04/2022 15:00

Don't be selfish, just get it delivered. I know people who have been very unwell with Covid recently, one was even hospitalised, despite having all the vaccinations. No one needs to go to the supermarket that desperately that they couldn't get a home delivery or ask someone to drop a few things into them

R00K · 15/04/2022 15:00

Yes I would and wouldn't bother with a mask either.

All these people claiming their "medical exemptions" for not wearing a mask, just in case it made them feel uncomfortable proved that most people don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.

If you can't beat them, join them and I won't feel guilty about it.

TokyoSushi · 15/04/2022 15:00

If I had absolutely no choice I'd go very late at night/early morning, wear a mask and keep my distance from everybody.

7eleven · 15/04/2022 15:02

If I had to, wearing a mask and social distance. With the absence of free LFTs, there’s probably loads of people walking around supermarkets with Covid.

How shameful! I'm appalled to live alongside people you like.

LetitiaLeghorn · 15/04/2022 15:02

No. Because its not about how I feel, it's about how serious it could be to someone else who caught it.

R00K · 15/04/2022 15:06

@BonnesVacances

I honestly don't care what you or others think tbh.

If it is OK for people to claim a medical exemption to not wear a mask, because it makes then feel a little bit anxious, then it's now ok for me to do the same. Even the government says that it's now not an issue.

Chooksnroses · 15/04/2022 15:07

No, because I'm not selfish or stupid.

jode19 · 15/04/2022 15:07

If you absolutely need to! It's not stupid, if you need something then you need it. Not everybody has somebody to go for them. Aslong as you wear a mask and stay away from people (as best as you can) then I would say go for it. You can go to work with covid now.

NameChanged15729 · 15/04/2022 15:08

I would, if the government are saying it’s ok to go to work with it and are scrapping the free tests then really we need to treat it as a normal cold type illness.

SookieHouseboat · 15/04/2022 15:08

The thing is, you won’t know who has it or doesn’t soon, it’s going to be business as usual, that means people working there too. Tests won’t be readily available soon, this is what the government wants; just normalise it and get on with things if you feel okay, just like any other illness. So wrong.

JinglingHellsBells · 15/04/2022 15:09

No

Because you might pass it on to someone who is CEV, elderly, and the last thing they need is Covid.

There are other ways to get food like the internet which - oh, hang on- you are using now Hmm

GeneLovesJezebel · 15/04/2022 15:09

Yes, but only if I needed to and I’d wear a mask.

Yep
DaleTrimont · 15/04/2022 15:10

No. Absolutely not.
I know young, fit people who have been really unwell with the latest variant. My asthmatic friend is very breathless a month on.

PinkiOcelot · 15/04/2022 15:10

If I had to yes, as long as I wasn’t feeling too poorly.

I agree with you but how are you going to tell if you have it or not soon? You won’t be able to tell.
Chely · 15/04/2022 15:11

Plenty are doing it every day and your disapproval will not change that.

TheFairyCaravan · 15/04/2022 15:11

No, in the same way as I wouldn’t go out with Norovirus, or the flu, or Chicken Pox either.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 15/04/2022 15:13

Yes, as long as I wasn’t feeling too unwell. I would wear a mask though.
