Apparently Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm childcare is normal.. AIBU to think that's a lot? That's more hours than most full time jobs

@FairyCatMother genuine question do you view the men that have casual relationships with the same judgment or is this solely reserved for women?

voldr · 13/04/2022 20:02

@FairyCatMother

To what roles are women not suited?

FairyCatMother · 13/04/2022 20:03

@AchillesPoirot I am also Irish, and you are equally beneath contempt for dragging other women down with you by expecting all of us to agree with your views on physical intimacy and the value of human life. Some actually value their positions as wives and mothers.

I don’t think women are saying that children won’t thrive in daycare for 10+ hours a day - they do and will and mine have.

However let’s be honest most very young children and babies would prefer to be at home in the care of their parents, which just isn’t possible.

SAHM mums can be feminists too and should be allowed their opinion.

How did I not value my position as a wife and mother? Please do tell me

You do not have to agree with it. You live your life how you want. You do NOT get to tell other women how to live.

LilyMumsnet · 13/04/2022 20:05

Hi all

Quick zapped the post referencing - none of you broke TG!
That should be the end of it now. Flowers

AchillesPoirot · 13/04/2022 20:06

I am pro abortion. I’ve never had one. But I’d never stop anyone else from having one.

I’m pro contraception. It saved my life.

I am as good as any man and better than most 😁.

Jog on.

Tillsforthrills · 13/04/2022 20:07

Sorry but some very condescending offensive remarks here too to SAHM in this thread, sarcastically saying the SAHM mum should be obeying their husbands and relying on them financially etc. That’s also nasty and isn’t in the spirit of feminism, it’s hypocritical.

Derogatory comments about women is not an opinion.
brookstar · 13/04/2022 20:08

Some actually value their positions as wives and mothers.

I'm wife, a mother and I have a successful career. I'm not defined by those individual roles but who I am as a person.

You are the one who is coming across as judgemental with views that are outdated and offensive.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/04/2022 20:10

I value my position as a mother. I also value my job, and as a single woman who doesn't have time for a relationship I bloody value casual sex.

brookstar · 13/04/2022 20:10

Nobody has said SAHMs can't be feminists or that they aren't allowed an opinion.

However, misogynistic comments should be challenged.

AchillesPoirot · 13/04/2022 20:11

I’m actually speechless at this point.

What about nonce priests? Are they OK?

Not to SAHMs. Just to one poster who has been particularly nasty about women, who does rely on her husband financially and probably obeys him too. Don't like it, don't dish it out
Tillsforthrills · 13/04/2022 20:14

@Waxonwaxoff0

Fair enough but the comments to that poster are derogatory and she’s a woman. Fair to challenge misogynistic comments though of course.

Pennox · 13/04/2022 20:14

God why are you still giving this (male) troll airtime?

I wasn’t derogatory to her.

Her post to me was absolutely vile.

clarepetal · 13/04/2022 20:15

Yes it is, but some people have no choice, and I would certainly not judge them on it.

Newpuppymummy · 13/04/2022 20:16

Yes it’s a lot. It’s not ideal for children. Some people have no choice. Sone people have a choice and still choose that option.

They are not derogatory. She has said she is happy to be in a traditional housewife role, so no one has said anything that isn't true.

Have you read their posts? The deleted post was particularly vile
