To think if you vote Tory now…

You’re effectively propping up this absolute shit show of a government and have no empathy.

I’ll be honest, I’ve voted conservative before as a middle class family their (taxation) policies have suited me more than Labour. I honestly feel ashamed of this and I wish I could’ve seen that the conservatives agenda of ‘levelling up’ is BS.

Regardless of your personal situation, enough is enough now right? People are reliant on food banks, they’re choosing between heating and eating. Austerity has been a total nightmare for society causing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

I find it baffling that so many justify voting conservative because of keeping women and children safe from the evil trans people

This is a sincere question; do you believe women trying to protect women's rights think trans people are evil? I'm not sure if that's what you really think or have characterised it that way for a purpose.

If you really believe this then you haven't understood the arguements against self ID at all.

LampLighter414 · 13/04/2022 17:53

To the tune of simply red...

If you vote Tory right now
You will never, never, never know me
No empathy oooh

DesdemonaDryEyes · 13/04/2022 17:57

The educated among us know it was Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes first

Wintersonata · 13/04/2022 18:02

You don’t count @Xenia**

Blossom what do you mean, she doesn’t count?
That’s pretty dismissive and patronising.

Franklin12 · 13/04/2022 18:12

I see the left wing smugs are out. It’s their way or the highway way and as for the name calling. Surely what you doing isn’t going to persuade anyone to come round to your way of thinking.

Cornettoninja · 13/04/2022 18:17

Why do you presume that anyone is trying to ‘sway’ anyone?

Why would commentary - left or right wing if you insist that the divide is necessary - bother you so much? This isn’t parliament, just a forum to air views and by doing so invite others to pass comment on them.

Shutting down conversation with derision isn’t exactly a noble pastime is it?

Mumoblue · 13/04/2022 18:21

Tory voters are no less “smug” than Labour ones, it’s ridiculous to suggest that’s a problem only with the left. I’ve heard no end of variations on “Well I simply have to vote for the party putting children in poverty because Labour aren’t providing a good enough argument for me not to”.

Why is there this obsessive belief that anyone is even trying to persuade people to change their minds? It’s a discussion not conversion therapy.

It’s that trumponian tactic of accusing others of doing what you’re doing but won’t admit to.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/04/2022 18:32

I can't vote for a party that will harm women.

That's the Conservatives ruled out then.

You can say that the Conservative Government are lying all you like but this government has put a stop to self ID and has reaffirmed the Equality Act 2010 and has made sure that practices to ensure that children who are non gender conforming are not railroaded into irreversible damage to their bodies.

The Conservatives were the ones who proposed Self ID in the first place. The number of children railroaded into irreversible damage shot up under the Conservatives. They manufactured the shitshow and now they're telling you that they're the only ones that can save you from it. Just like they manufactured Austerity, where the poorest in society had to pay for the global fuck up by the banks. And they manufactured Brexit, the biggest act of self harm inflicted on a modern country to get a few thousand UKIP votes. They create chaos, blame everyone else and make the poor pay while their rich friends get richer.

People are saying that the Tories are lying because they are. And have been for years. How many lies do they have to tell before you believe they are liars @lifeturnsonadime?

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/04/2022 18:35

Xenia is a millionaire, it makes sense for her to vote Conservative.

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 13/04/2022 18:45

How do people post these insults and not see the irony

Who says we don't see the irony? After over a decade of hearing, seeing, and experiencing the effects if tory actions I'm past the point of trying to pretend there are any decent tory voters left.

Any traditional tory voters with an iota of morality has abandoned that party by now, those that are left are the genuine dregs of society, who I have no doubt would send their own mothers to the glue factory if it meant an extra quid in their back pockets.

I'm not sorry if that offends you, or you feel that's not a fair reflection of you as a person,8 for those of us that have to see/hear/feel the full impacts of what the tories have done to this country that's exactly how we view you.

On a separate note @lifeturnsonadime it's probably already been pointed out to you numerous times already but, you do realise that Labour haven't been in power since 2010 right? For over 12 years the Conservatives have been running the show, anything and everything that is eroding women's rights is happening because of them. Not Labour, not lib dems, not the left, Tories.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/04/2022 18:51

Would that be the 2010 Equality Act passed by Labour @lifeturnsonadime?

Up to you if you feel that way about people who vote differently to you. Especially since the last election had the result it did that’s a fair amount of people you hold hate in your mind for.

I’d say you were wrong of course but angry intolerant people exist in all walks of life and the level of intolerance from the left is apparent.

The aggression and abuse is mostly from your direction.

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2022 18:56

Plus as a floating voter I don’t always vote in any direction

I find the level of abuse based on that kind of tribalism at odds with my mindset.

BasiliskStare · 13/04/2022 18:58

@Blossomtoes I am not sure I would agree with @Xenia on every point but - I think "you don't count" counts as tribal politics - which I do not like. I have a great friend - Conservative councillor - not MP & she did the most marvellous things for adoption , schools and refurbishing council houses - I do not like it when people say a Conservative person does not have a heart. You may not like all policies - but seriously you cannot say anyone who is a Conservative does not have a heart, - well obviously you can but I would disagree.

As ever I will read the manifesto & see.

CMZ2018 · 13/04/2022 19:01

Dry your eyes. I’ll be voting Conservative.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2022 19:03

@TooBigForMyBoots

Would that be the 2010 Equality Act passed by Labour *@lifeturnsonadime*?
Well at least you've got this straight now. You were blaming the conservatives earlier for bringing in anti women legislation.
BasiliskStare · 13/04/2022 19:04

And for the avoidance of doubt I have voted Tory ( and also Labour ) But not once ( & I have checked Grin ) have I sold my mother to a glue factory for a few quid - that is just risible & not ( in my opinion ) reasoned debate . I like to think I am not the dregs of society but just think a little more about the arguments and policies & of the parties available - well - that is where you put your X )

SleeplessInEngland · 13/04/2022 19:06

*“I can't vote for a party that will harm women.”

Shhh, it doesn’t count if the harm is economic.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2022 19:06

of course I know the conservatives lie, all politicians lie, the current government are proven liars.

However the Labour Party tells the biggest lie of all 'transwomen are women' and women can have penises.

Despite being a habitual liar Mr Johnson tells the truth when he says that it is biological factors which make a woman not gender feelings.

FOJN · 13/04/2022 19:06

@TooBigForMyBoots

Would that be the 2010 Equality Act passed by Labour *@lifeturnsonadime*?
Why yes it would, which lifeturnsonadime told you at approx 13.30 after you asserted at 13.12 that the conservative government were responsible for implementing the current legislation.
lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2022 19:11

People on this thread are confusing people who can't vote Labour for this single issue of women's rights with 'being Tory Voters'

Rather than castigate those who reasonably believe that Self ID will harm women perhaps consider why this might be.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/04/2022 19:13

Well at least you've got this straight now. You were blaming the conservatives earlier for bringing in anti women legislation.

I'm sorry if I confused you, I was talking about the anti-woman legislation in the Conservative proposed GRA Reforms of 2016 that brought Self ID to the fore and created a trans shitshow.

Blossomtoes · 13/04/2022 19:14

What else would you call them? Unless, of course, you intend spoiling your paper.
