To think if you vote Tory now…

You’re effectively propping up this absolute shit show of a government and have no empathy.

I’ll be honest, I’ve voted conservative before as a middle class family their (taxation) policies have suited me more than Labour. I honestly feel ashamed of this and I wish I could’ve seen that the conservatives agenda of ‘levelling up’ is BS.

Regardless of your personal situation, enough is enough now right? People are reliant on food banks, they’re choosing between heating and eating. Austerity has been a total nightmare for society causing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

@lifeturnsonadime

a viable alternative

So the viable alternative to this conservative party:

 1. Backed unreasonable lock down laws.
 2. Doesn't know what a woman is.
 3. Doesn't appear to have any real policies on anything. Can anyone actually tell me what they will do if they get into power except from destroy women's rights?
@lifeturnsonadime

You forgot. Completely decimate the economy.

There are several tidies I'd happily see take a very long walk off a short pier with Sunak taking the lead,

However, there's absolutely no way we'd be in a better position with labour in Govt & if you think it's bad now, it would have been a LOT worse with them in during the height of covid.

No way am I helping us into that hell.

"Genuinely interested to know why? I think Kier Starmer, Jess Phillips, David Lammy , Yvette Cooper etc all seem smarter, braver and more in touch with real life to me than the tories - before I even begin to consider moral standing. What is it that makes you hold the conservatives in higher regard? Sincere question."

They think women can have penises and don't care how gender ideology affects vulnerable women and children.

Don't you find it peculiar that that issues around self id have massively risen in the last few years whilst the tories are in power? Do you think it's possible that the owners of newspapers (with business interests that work better for them under Tory rule) have been using this issue to divide people? Do you really think Tories have women best interests at heart? What has improved for women under their governance?
DownNative · 13/04/2022 10:34

@ChocolateDeficitDisorder

And that country is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

No, the union of countries is called the UK. The country that people mainly discussing is England - as usual.

The country everyone lives in that is a sovereign country IS the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Notice how leaders of each country does not refer to England, but to the United Kingdom? And all membership of alliances, etc, is on the basis of a single unitary sovereign state known as the UK too?

But yes, most in here have a very England centric view which seems to blind them to other reasons for voting or not voting for any number of parties. In this case, the Conservatives.

DazzlingDarrenDring · 13/04/2022 10:35
@DazzlingDarrenDring - Labour didn't want our votes, Labour didn't want us in their party.

Women who care about women's rights are politically homeless right now. Labour didn't want us.
Of course they want you! What a ridiculous statement.

I find it worrying, the complete dismissal of Labour because of their approach to self I.D. and transgender issues.

Forget about the poor, elderly, young, vulnerable, homeless.

Forget about integrity and honesty and serving the country.

Forget about gay people, immigrants.

It's women's rights that matter - sod everyone else.

CounsellorTroi · 13/04/2022 10:37

No woman has ever even led the labour party despite having some strong candidates. There have been 2 conservative women prime ministers.

The first one of those might as well have been a man. She cared fuck all for women’s rights and did more harm than good to the cause of women generally. She never appointed a woman to her cabinet.

You might be disappointed to read this article from 2016;

[David] Lammy ordered to pay up to £5,000 for 35,000 calls featuring recorded message urging people to back his [mayoral] campaign.

It is the first time a politician has been fined for authorising nuisance calls.

Overthebow · 13/04/2022 10:39

Give me a good alternative to voting Tory and I’ll vote for them instead. Labour is not a good alternative, their financial policies aren’t good and they have laid low over the last couple of years. I’ll continue to vote Tory until there is a better option.

DownNative · 13/04/2022 10:39

@MojoMoon

I said that about Scotland.

I am vaguely aware of some SNP funding scandals - I read private eye - but not enough to know where they stand in the league table of corruption. Sometimes it is best not have a view when you don't feel you have enough reliable information.

Scotland is very nice. But it's also a regional government, far away from me. I just don't follow the details of the ins and outs of Scottish politics any more than I do for Northern Ireland or Liverpool or Cornwall.

Most people living in the UK live quite some distance from Westminster yet usually know quite a bit about it.

I notice you didn't mention Wales there.

I know a lot about the politics of Northern Ireland, Scotland and England. Not so much Wales apart from the performance of Labour there and the independence thing which is tiny, thankfully.

Most people in England don't want Scotland or Northern Ireland to leave the UK.

Not womanly enough Hmm.

CounsellorTroi · 13/04/2022 10:41

How could anyone possibly think Labour are worse option than the Tories is beyond me. What do the Tories have to do to make their supporters stop supporting them?

mrziggycoco · 13/04/2022 10:42

And what if you vote Labour? Or Lib Dem, or Green?

is there any chance at all that they all report to the same entity and work towards the very same goals as one another with only the illusion of surface level deviation from corporate interests?

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2022 10:43

Of course they want you! What a ridiculous statement.

Are you sure about that?

She did nothing for women in politics.

DragonOverTheMoon · 13/04/2022 10:44

It's not a ridiculous statement.

I am not a dinosaur www.google.com/amp/s/labourlist.org/2021/09/anti-trans-members-are-dinosaurs-who-want-to-hoard-rights-says-lammy/%3famp

I am not going to be ignored until they need womens votes again thecritic.co.uk/labours-women-problem/

And I'm not voting for a party who choses to ignore and be ok with the appalling treatment of Rosie Duffield. A woman who couldn't speak at her own party conference because of death threats.

Labour can fuck right off if they want my vote after that.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2022 10:44

@CounsellorTroi

Nothing.

It's the Labour Party that's fucking this up.

Flapjacker48 · 13/04/2022 10:45

People who vote Tory should hang their heads in shame.

DragonOverTheMoon · 13/04/2022 10:47

@lifeturnsonadime i forgot about that classic threat.

Yeah, I'm not voting for a party that would expell me.

luckylavender · 13/04/2022 10:49

@GeneLovesJezebel

There were many people breaking the rules where I live. And, shock horror, I walked my dog twice a day in lockdown. I’m not saying what they did was ok, but if Labour were in charge now it would be stuff they did wrong in the news. They are all as bad as each other.
If you think that's ok, crack on. Personally I prefer my government not to be tax dodging criminals.
luckylavender · 13/04/2022 10:51

@GeneLovesJezebel

Didn’t Jeremy Corbin have a family meal when he shouldn’t have ? And I don’t care about that either.
Why is anyone still talking about Corbyn? Totally irrelevant
HRTQueen · 13/04/2022 10:52

Oh please we have always known what Boris Johnson was like this isn’t a shock

Many like that he doesn’t play by the rules and for many it just won’t bother them

No one can claim they voted for a honest PM when they voted conservative in the last election

luckylavender · 13/04/2022 10:52

@AlternativePerspective

And tbh, I don’t know why people are getting worked up about this again now. Boris didn’t resign at the time all the pictures came out, all that has happened is that fines have been issued, but we knew about the parties months ago, nothing new has emerged here so it’s a bit disingenuous to say that there’s something new every few months or “just when I thought they couldn’t stoop any lower,” etc.
The difference is that the Met Police has found him culpable. That's big news.
caringcarer · 13/04/2022 10:53

I will be voting Conservative. So Boris was given a cake at end of a business meeting. So what? He has really stepped up over Ukraine war. He has stated no place for trans in female sex spaces and sports. He is doing a good job. Labour are a joke, can't even understand what a woman is.

luckylavender · 13/04/2022 10:53

@AlternativePerspective

Didn’t Jeremy Corbin have a family meal when he shouldn’t have ? And I don’t care about that either. imagine if labour had got in at the last election we would have had him in power, and then the antics of his brother would have been even more prominent. Would have been interesting to see how he responded to those if requested to do so by the press…. Because he would have been confronted about it, no doubt.
But he didn't. Stop deflecting.
CounsellorTroi · 13/04/2022 10:54

If you think that's ok, crack on. Personally I prefer my government not to be tax dodging criminals.

Tax dodging morally bankrupt criminals. And yet people still think Labour are worse and it’s they who are fucking up not the Tories.

luckylavender · 13/04/2022 10:54

@AlternativePerspective

It baffles me that people rate Keir Starmer. When he first took over the labour leadership I thought he might have something about him, but he’s such a drip. He always sits in the commons bleating about how the conservatives “shouldn’t be doing this,” and “should be doing that,” but he never actually says what his party would do. He’s too busy taking potshots at the tories.

Maybe if he came up with something concrete people would be more inclined to listen to him.

Maybe if you listened to him you'd hear what he has to say.
