Logan Mwangi TW: Child Abuse

I’m just so sad. Why do these dreadful people do this?

I want to breathe the life back into him and take him away from all that pain.

I’m a fairly rubbish parent a lot if the time. But I just can’t conceive of the evil that does this to a poor little child.

I'm not really comfortable with people describing the 14 year old as evil. He was a child, who was also obviously horrendously damaged by his family.

What a daft statement - of course kids can be evil. It's rare but it happens - I point you in the direction of poor little Jamie Bulger who was also murdered by kids.

Yes maybe he was disadvantaged and damaged by upbringing but lots of people are and they don't then go on to murder. If what we read is true he was a willing participant who took pleasure in harming that little boy.

Do you think people who are that way inclined just suddenly become evil at age 18 - they don't. Often the signs are there from a young age - things like harming or killing animals for pleasure and it then escalates.

The trouble is it gets missed until its too late because people say "oh it's a child - they can't POSSIBLY be evil" 🙄

Spanglemum · 22/04/2022 16:29

I know that the vast majority of step parents do their best. I'm not anti single parents having new relationships but when a child is murdered there is often a vulnerable/inadequate mother and a new partner.

Looked on local news website just now and the headline is a man on trial in West Wales accused of murdering a two year old. When will it end?

I also agree that social services/children's services are desperately underfunded and until that changes we'll see more cases like Logan's

So much vitriol, snobbery and downright misogyny on this thread. "Chav mums", "thing who gave birth", "evil" about a child.

Not to mention haranguing of Social Services who do their utmost in a chronically underfunded, unsupportive, broken system.

Those comments are about the mother not the child...

LadyTwinkle · 22/04/2022 17:07

The youth had expressed a clear desire to hurt children in the past including Logan. Yet he was placed in a home with a five year old and a baby despite his obvious aggressive behaviour. He was failed by the adults in his life, who enabled his violent behaviour rather than stopped it. They did this by including him in their abuse of Logan. Logan was treated like an individual who's life was worthless. If AW account is to be believed of John Cole punching Logan in the stomach and instructing the youth to sweep him. They were both giving him permission to hurt Logan without consequences and normalising that kind of behaviour. Which is messed up on so many levels.

clpsmum · 22/04/2022 17:30

Tbh I don't want these scumbags to be rehabilitated I want them to rot in prison for the rest of their lives. They won't though the justice system is a joke

clpsmum · 22/04/2022 17:32

@Greenmascara I'm not really comfortable with children being abused and murdered. The murderer is evil regardless of age. Sure he is a victim himself and failed by the system to some degree too but it doesn't lessen what he did

clpsmum · 22/04/2022 17:33

@Starseeking I do the same

LadyTwinkle · 22/04/2022 17:48

I think it's clear from this account given by his previous foster family that the youth should never have been placed in a home with other young children.
Foster parents of boy 14 who murdered Logan Mwangi lived in fear and warned social service.

Bagelsandbrie · 22/04/2022 17:54

I’m confused about how the teenager is related to this family. He was in foster care previously - so were Williams and Cole new foster carers for him (in which case surely there should have been more supervision given previous issues?) or was he the son of Williams or Cole….?

Bagelsandbrie · 22/04/2022 17:55

And if Williams and Cole were foster carers - wtf?!

EmeraldShamrock1 · 22/04/2022 17:57

Poor DC born into evil.

SS failed him badly, do they even sit with the DC? Have a small chat?

I often wonder how neighbours or friends of the parents don't see patterns of abuse before it is fatal.

I hope I'd notice if a local DC was suffering badly, I certainly wouldn't dismiss concerns.

The DM had a cover face and came from a working family which probably fooled SS, surely they should be trained in this manipulative manner from certain clients.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 22/04/2022 17:59

The DM said on the 999 call she woke to check on her older son when she noticed Logan had gone.

roxyro · 22/04/2022 18:00

Some people are just scum. Those that find that deeply unpleasant can just do one. She allowed a 6’4” man to punch a 5 yr old boy in the stomach. She let them eat KFC in front of him whilst he had to make do with Weetabix. He was made to do press up until he collapsed.

Poor Daniel Pelka’s stepfather made him to squats until he collapsed too. That vile pair committed suicide in prison. I hope this pair get hammered by other inmates and then do us the honour of ending their rotten lives. Utter scum.

Ahhh I see.

They had another child as well though didn’t they? I think that’s what confused me but I think the other child was younger.

Dobbysgotthesocks · 22/04/2022 18:08

The impression I got was that 14 year old was Cole's son? I don't think he was AW son. I could be wrong though?
Was there a baby in the house at the time too???

EmeraldShamrock1 · 22/04/2022 18:11

So much vitriol, snobbery and downright misogyny on this thread. "Chav mums", "thing who gave birth", "evil" about a child.

^Angharad Williamson enjoyed a private education and the trappings of luxury as she grew up. But now she faces a life sentence after being convicted of murdering her own child.^

Chav is a disgusting word.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 22/04/2022 18:13

Logan wasn't Coles son. If you listen to the 999 call she said he was a stepfather to Logan.
Definitely said she got up to her other son unless it was a baby.

Goldijobsandthe3bears · 22/04/2022 18:13

The 14 year old is of huge concern, definitely psychopathic and has plenty of time left ahead to get more of what he craves.

Bagelsandbrie · 22/04/2022 18:14

Just been having a search and this article goes into the timelines and children - she had a child with Cole, she got pregnant very early into the relationship after sleeping with him on the first night she met him… (it is the mirror so maybe not the best source)!

Be careful about speculation with the 14yr old. Another thread was deleted for not much more.

Not as disgusting as murderer, torturer or child abuser

EmeraldShamrock1 · 22/04/2022 18:18

@Bagelsandbrie I think the other son mentioned was the baby now thinking about it.

Why is it that these children are always, always "known to SS/ on a child protection plan/ family have made recent reports to SS," e.g. Star Hobson/ Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and now Logan ? What on earth are SS doing 🙄

SS are focusing on the wrong families and then cases like this get missed.

they have a huge focus on things like FII and ‘risk of future emotional harm’ and put a lot of time into that with families who have genuinely ill dc (ASD, feeding difficulties etc) and this unfortunately means they miss horrific cases of real abuse

Wheeloftime · 22/04/2022 18:23

I'm still crying for Arthur. Will never forget him. Then Star. Daniel Pelka. Now Logan. Unimaginable cruelty and dehumanisation of innocent helpless little beings. Vile step"parents" and companion biological mum or dad, extended family blocked out. Same story each time. Read another one today where social services utterly failed once more: Hakeem. Whilst not murdered and tortured he was so neglected by his drug addict mother whose other kids were taken into care that he had an asthma attack as his mum used his inhaler as a crack pipe, and he froze to death in the garden. His teachers and nurses had said he would die that weekend to ss. And he did... Why why is this happening? Was it always happening?
