Does anyone sell on vinted?

I saw the ad in TV last night have downloaded app and been browsing.

The intention is to get rid of stuff I've been meaning to for ages but I haven't done this before and so my main question is how do I know what to set as a postage cost?!

I fear I may end up spending more than making but we will see.

Any tips for a new seller!

It's super easy and almost walks you through it.

It's intuitive and pulls out things like the brand/ size etc you written in the title so it automates the listing as you - meaning it takes less than a minute to list.

The postage size is also guided so it'll say small is for T-shirts, swimwear, beauty products etc
Medium, dresses, trousers etc and so on.

I also have some Evri (previously Hermes) lockers nearby so I drop things daily in those. I've made over £100 the last week and clearing out my wardrobe in the meantime! 😊

Vinted is great..I use it a lot for selling! The buyer buys the postage so you don't have to sort that. You select, when listing an item, the size of the package so small medium large
I think small is up to 1kg, medium up to 2kg, and large up to 5kg (with most postage options) I tend to just select medium for most options anyway to cover myself. Then when they buy a shipping label is sent to you which you print off and take to a parcel shop. It's so much easier than Ebay

MoonBat · 09/04/2022 07:35

When you list something they have a pretty accurate guide as to what size parcel it should be, so small would be a light t-shirt, make up items for example. Then you can choose which postage options people can choose (so Hermes, Royal Mail etc) and the price will be set automatically. Or you can choose custom postage and work it out for yourself by weighing the item, finding the price from the postage provider etc but that seems a bit of a faff to me.
I've sold quite a lot on there (but definitely bought more...) and the postage options have never been an issue for me!

I find it a much better option for selling than eBay, far easier.

MiddleParking · 09/04/2022 07:36

The buyer ‘buys you’ a postage label, so you don’t need to decide how much to charge for postage.

gunnersgold · 09/04/2022 07:36

Yes! It's fab

KatherineofGaunt · 09/04/2022 07:37

I've just started. Sold half a dozen things in the past week and made about £20. Very easy to use.

MrMrsJones · 09/04/2022 07:51

I have cleared out loads of dresses to sell, I shall have a go

DoubleChinWoes2 · 09/04/2022 07:56

My local evri/Hermes drop off place means I need to print my own labels which is annoying as I don't have a printer! The shop will print for me for 15p though, just have to bring sellotape and scissors. Bit annoying the shop doesn't have the QR scan thing.

I've also made about £100 in a week doing this. In my.experience, ironing the item, photographing in daylight and offering a £1 off to early 'likes' gets good results.

Trouble is, I spend it all on more vinted stuff!

Ewanismydreamsheep · 09/04/2022 07:57

I have it set so I only offer UPS or Hermes for delivery as I’ve lost out a couple of times with Royal Mail.

MistletoeMeadow · 09/04/2022 08:01

Yes under “settings” you can decide which postage options to offer, buyer then decides and pays.

Depends how much patience you have but I’ve been offering things pretty cheaply for quick and easy sales and have made almost £200 in a month clearing out old clothes. I find the brands like Zara and Whistles sell easily when priced well.

Much much better than eBay.

If you do post by Royal Mail, you must manually upload a photo of the receipt from the post office and confirm sent.

Good luck!

superram · 09/04/2022 08:02

I use it and have made about £400 in 12 months. However, I price to sell and much of the stuff had tags. I don’t use Royal Mail as I have no intention of queuing in the post office for an item that’s £3. Merges and yodel drop offs are great.

superram · 09/04/2022 08:02

Merges? Hermes/evri

HousePlantNeglect · 09/04/2022 08:03

I use it a lot for selling and buying. It’s much less hassle than EBay. But you have to price things right and stuff can be on there for ages before it sells. But otherwise it’s great to use

How do you do this? @Ewanismydreamsheep I want to do that xx
lesgalettes · 09/04/2022 08:14

@Ewanismydreamsheep how did you lose out with Royal Mail?

eerk · 09/04/2022 08:20

Oh I didn't expect such positive feedback. I'll give it a go then.

What about collection for heavy items - is that an option?

I have a question about Vinted. How up-market does it go? I have a formal silk Margaret Howell evening dress that, following an op, I can no longer wear.

Would Vinted work or do I need to sell it somewhere else?

MintJulia · 09/04/2022 08:25

Sorry to interrupt your thread, op.

It depends! Vinted is great for selling if you either turnover a lot of stuff quickly or you don't mind it hanging around - you don't have the eBay risk of selling it too low and having to go through with the sale.

There doesn't seem to be as much turnover of higher value stuff though. I've been using it since the start of the year (no new clothing resolution) and have bought quite a bit, but haven't gone above £20 for any individual item.

Forevergold2838 · 09/04/2022 08:32

MintJulia there are lots of expensive items on there, I'm not sure how well they sell as there's no option for a buyer to return the item if it doesn't fit or suit them. The buyer is protected if the item isn't as described. Ive often wondered if that would put a buyer off. Might be worth seeing if you can include an option to return it. Definitely worth a go though.

OP-as others have said its really easy to use, it's a buyers market. Be prepared for people to make offers. Great for getting rid of stuff.

MintJulia · 09/04/2022 08:35

Ok, undermilkjug thx. I'll have to think of something else.

I’ve used Vinted but I’m not a fan of it. I now use Depop and eBay

Sleepyquest · 09/04/2022 08:49

I'm Loving it! But have had some items on there months and others have been up hours before selling.

Why? I have some stuff to sell too and it would be held le helpful to know specifics. Ive used Ebay and Depop in the past, what is wrong with Vinted?

They advertise so much I thought it would be attracting buyers
