What age did your looks start to fade?

Do we really become less desirable as we get older? Why is this?

@Scianel

There's definitely some sort of big changes that start happening in early/mid forties. Before then you can still get away with looking properly young, I think. Whether that equates to losing looks, I suppose it depends on the person. Some women I think genuinely grow into their looks.
but that's irrelevant as well.....what is this fascination with looks?
latriciamcneal · 07/04/2022 09:55

My looks are still about, and I'm 40. My looks actually improved as my diet did and I literally look younger and healthier now, slimmer also, than in my twenties because my diet was awful. I drank loads then and I still drink now, although I stick to red wine in the sofa and don’t get drunk any longer. It was what I put in, now I eat a raw fresh salad every day and I take care to use supplements that we can't get in a modern diet. I still pay close attention to my skin with good products and exfoliation. I don’t have wrinkles and don’t look ‘old’.

But don’t underestimate stress. This is the real age acceleration risk. I try massively to stay not stressed. Having only one child is probably the biggest factor. Should I get my desired second baby I will probably look 50 within the next few years.

Also working from home and liking my life helps the most. I know, I've been at the other side. My days are my own and I'm happy – I think this maintains youth, I really do.

HarlanPepper · 07/04/2022 09:55

I'm 44 and I've still got it. [cheeky wink] [finger guns]

takealettermsjones · 07/04/2022 09:57

Never. I am glorious and ageless like a shiny unicorn.

I love this

In my mid 40’s and still get compliments on my looks and how I dress. I’ve always taken care of my skin and eat plenty of healthy fruit and veg etc. I make an effort without going over the top. I’m not sure if I look my age, but I do know that I’m also a happy, positive person (even though life has not been all easy) and I think this often makes a huge difference to how old you look.

Oaktree55 · 07/04/2022 09:58

42 then v rapid 45-50 unless you take hrt which helps.

Kittykatmacbill · 07/04/2022 09:59

41! I still looked young at 40. Now the pandemic, stress (work and family) has taken its toll. I really have aged a decade in the last two years.

SockQueen · 07/04/2022 10:00

I'm not sure I ever really had them to fade in the first place.

MadameFantabulosa · 07/04/2022 10:00

Mid fifties. I could pass for 5-10 years younger until then. After 55, I look my age. And generally quite tired. I also have something wrong with my eye which I think is ageing.

Lubeyboobyalt · 07/04/2022 10:01

about 35 was the very start. Soon to be 42. I don't mind at all though, ageing is a privilege some people don't get to experience

Farawayfromhere · 07/04/2022 10:02

Unicorn here too. Look fabulous and always have done. Will probably look about 20 when I'm 87.

Also: feel really lucky to be alive and grow older.

Chishnfips · 07/04/2022 10:02

Aging is not fading.

SalJ90 · 07/04/2022 10:02

Society is what has created the fascination with looks. Women are judged far too much and I do feel the pressure, my aim for this decade is to learn not to give a monkeys!

I have always looked old. Think I was born old .

hamstersarse · 07/04/2022 10:03

In darkened rooms and from a distance I've still got it. 47.

Alwaystired37 · 07/04/2022 10:03

Somewhere between 30-32. I don't know if it was because I had my wisdom teeth removed or what but suddenly my previously plump cheeks began to sag and I started to get noticeable lines around my mouth. Then thyroid problems kicked in and I became fat, pale, saggy, lost a lot of my eyebrows and my nails and skin became dull and dry. Pregnancy/breastfeeding left me with a C-section shelf, split stomach muscles and saggy boobs. Having kids really does a number on your looks!

I've finally started taking levothyroxine, so I'm hoping that some of my issues will be resolved by this!

I've definitely aged 10 years in he last 5. I do not feel good about my body or my face at the moment!

SalJ90 · 07/04/2022 10:04

Also in my teens and early 20’s I lived on the bloody subbed! Stupid woman!

SalJ90 don’t worry when you become peri menopausal you really don’t care anymore

It’s liberating

felulageller · 07/04/2022 10:06

When I look back at photos I think I was at my best at 34.

It's a bit disturbing that so many on this thread are talking about how they look good but also saying they've had Botox!

Badtasteflump · 07/04/2022 10:07

Jeez what a miserable thread.... I would say now close to 50 I can see a definite 'sag' which I managed to avoid up until recently. On the plus side, I've also started to not give a flying fuck what anybody else thinks, which helps balance out how much it bothers me. Conveniently, also whereas ten years ago I would have been gutted if men didn't 'see' me, now I tend to 'see' most of them as misogynistic twats so don't want their validation - I have a strong suspicion hormones are at play here 😁.

Metalhead · 07/04/2022 10:08

Probably around 37/38, after having DD2 - the stress of having 2 kids definitely aged me!

emmetgirl · 07/04/2022 10:09

Just starting to fade now. I'm 56. It's probably because I'm just tired. I just can't be arsed to put the effort in any more 🤷‍♀️

thegreylady · 07/04/2022 10:09

I got breast cancer aged 62 and after all the treatment and emotional upheaval I am fat, grey, slow and tired but now, 16 years later I know I have had some of my best times since I was 60 so looks not important, perception is very central to ‘life’.
