trib.al/ov5g0nj I can’t stand the throes but agree with this

OP posts:
HRTQueen · 06/04/2022 23:16

So please, if you have compelling arguments then use them, political discourse is all the better for it. But cut out this tribalistic polarisation, remove the hyperbole, give up on the ineffective emotional blackmail, and make an actual bloody point

Absolutely agree

Westchesterarms · 06/04/2022 23:17

@LexMitior And if he does unpick it, would you vote for him?

Zanina · 06/04/2022 23:17

I agree with him but I think we need stonewall out of schools! Ruining innocent children for some wierd agenda

HRTQueen · 06/04/2022 23:18

I had high hopes for Lisa Nandy

So disappointing

I think there shall be a leadership challenge soon and it won’t be on the right side of the house

magicofthefae · 06/04/2022 23:18

Of course women's rights and lesbian rights have to be respected and upheld. I agree with Boris on this point. Biological females etc. 100% agree. Rape is never ok, whether is a female or male or straight or lesbian or gay victim. It's never ok. Labours stance on this is appalling.
But my actual point was the direction the country is taking, under Boris/Sunak, most of the women (if they are not upper-middle class and affluent) would die out of food and fuel poverty first or raped via street homelessness etc first ....before such things like rape in prison would happen, which in every case is horrendous.

Scorchedterf · 06/04/2022 23:18

I’ll be voting for my Tory councillors but unfortunately my MP is Crispin Blunt who is currently chucking his toys out of his prank about this. Crispin Blunt is full on Stonewall Trans Women are Women etc. So I definitely won’t be voting for him. I’m hoping that he will be deselected by his party as soon as possible. He is odious and self serving and dismissive of the people who voted for him.

chaosrabbitland · 06/04/2022 23:18

personally it makes me want to laugh
Yeah, I don't think it does make you want to laugh, though, because you've used quite excessive language over a simple election procedure.

its another to declare in lovestruck fashion boris has your vote now , all the other lies and cockups and policies dont matter a fuck , this one thing hes said will have lots of fawning women...

When I cast my three votes for councillors in May, I can guarantee I won't be lovestruck or fawning. Lol. Its just my vote on who I think will be best at looking after where I live.[/quote]
trust me it really does make me laugh . the sheer stupidity of some people always does . i will be laughing even more if they get in again and im reading complaining threads from people who voted for them

NippyWoowoo · 06/04/2022 23:21

@Staffy1

Vote torie you vice to screw over people who are disabled and/or poor

But does anything really change for them under a Labour government because I haven’t noticed much difference in anything between the two.

The cuts to funding for child and family services have happened over the last decade, under the Tories

If there's a good result for women, I am pro Johnson.

I am not pro headlines. Who gives one damn about that? Utter rubbish. Results, not whifffle.

ilovesooty · 06/04/2022 23:21

@DahliaMacNamara

How can you agree with someone who believes nothing? He will spout whatever seems expedient on any given day. He has very little respect for anybody else, and is certainly no champion of women. Whatever you think about what he said, you'd be a fool to think he wouldn't say something different tomorrow if he was looking for approval from another direction.
He has no ideology or personal conviction at all. If people want to vote for someone like that, they obviously will do. I don't think any women I know are likely to turn Tory because he's come up with an expedient soundbite.
Doyouknowthe · 06/04/2022 23:21

It pains me to say it, but I'm so relieved that it appears that a grown up is back in the room. And Johnson, of all people. I agree that what he said is common sense, and needed to be said. Finally. Some sense amongst this gender woo nonsense.

NippyWoowoo · 06/04/2022 23:23

@Waxonwaxoff0

There are currently single mums literally starving, unable to pay energy bills and people suddenly think Boris is some kind of feminist champion.
And guaranteed whether or not a trans woman can compete with other women in a cycling competition is the last thing on their minds
Hasselhoffsheadband · 06/04/2022 23:23

You email your MP, no matter what party, and you ask them what they think about this statement and what they and their party are doing about it.

I have already emailed my MP about this issue, thank you, several times in fact and they already made it clear that they are willing to listen to women on the issue of GRA reform rather than just press on already with it whilst steamrollering the opinions and needs of women. Unlike pretty much all Labour politicians, bar Rosie Duffield. So I am pretty sure I know what my MP would say with regards to Boris's comments today.

LexMitior · 06/04/2022 23:27

@Hasselhoffsheadband

"willing to listen" - that isn't much is it. An actual proposal about this mess.

Its so unambitious and why I am very suspicious. Results, action, not words. Why should women settle for so little.

canary1 · 06/04/2022 23:27

Boris saying things I agree with for first time ever. I’m very glad he made these points.
I’m impressed. It hardly negates all the public sector underspending and the corruption, but it’s excellent that he has done this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/04/2022 23:28

And guaranteed whether or not a trans woman can compete with other women

They aren't "other women", that's the whole point. Males are not women. It isn't a fair race for women if males compete. We quite like our sporting heroes and events in this country, I think you'll find, it isn't an insignificant issue.

lakeswimmer · 06/04/2022 23:29

He has no ideology or personal conviction at all.

What and cowardly Starmer has? We have a choice of charlatans, one who has just his stated his support of women's rights and a bunch of other halfwits who don't know what a woman is. It's slim pickings out there,

Re pp I emailed tonight to say I welcome the statements and I’d like to see further action.

What do you think about Labour and self ID? If they get in would that concern you?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/04/2022 23:30

my MP is Crispin Blunt who is currently chucking his toys out of his prank about this. Crispin Blunt is full on Stonewall Trans Women are Women etc.

Perhaps he should resign or cross the floor. I wonder if he will.

MangyInseam · 06/04/2022 23:33

@Burgoo

He is playing to the female vote. Its all BS and he will say anything to get you to vote for him. I know someone who knows him personally. They say he is charming and funny and at the same time he will say anything to anyone to win them over. He changes his views on a daily basis depending on who he is talking to. He has little conviction in his beliefs, he is a weather vane when it comes to ethnics, morals or views.

I don't trust him and people should avoid voting for him just because he is saying what you want to hear. He will undoubtedly say what he needs to.

I suspect that this whole thing is actually a relatively low number of very loud activists who have made the public believe that women are under attack from trans women. I know nobody in real life who is even remotely concerned by this hysterical issue.

This may well be how he operates, but there are two points that are important in relation to that:
  • The population overall either agrees with him, or agrees with him more than they do Labour. They hate things like men in women's sports, and men in women's prisons. So he has every reason, as a populist, to take the approach of rolling back the capture of these kinds of institutions.
  • The weight of opinion within the Tory caucus also seems to increasingly favour the POV he articulated. In fact if you listen to people who have talked to their local MPs or candidates, there seem to be quite a few who both understand the issue and feel strongly about it.

Both reasons to think that he's not going to be flip-flopping.

LexMitior · 06/04/2022 23:36

@MarshaBradyo - do I think Labour would actual act on self ID if they won the next election?

No.

Truly. If you cannot acknowledge biological reality then you are not in the realm of being able to lead a country.

But they are not in power. Johnson is and his party have been sponsoring this rubbish for years. I quite admire Truss who seems to have had a position on this for a long time. But she is an outlier.

I regard them all with contempt. Today, women are good copy. Tomorrow? I wonder.

IamAporcupine · 06/04/2022 23:38

They can fuck right off. I am so upset with Labour for leaving us in this position.

This 100%.
Same with the left back home
I am politically homeless

Westchesterarms · 06/04/2022 23:44

under Boris/Sunak, most of the women (if they are not upper-middle class and affluent) would die out of food and fuel poverty first or raped via street homelessness etc

Wait. Say what now? Seriously?! There's an adult population of 55 million. So about 28 million women. Much less than half would be uppermiddle class or affluent but lets say for argument it is 50%, that means 14m women aren't in those two classes. So you're stating that most, ie 8 million plus women are going to die of starvation and cold or be raped by homeless people.
I get you don't like the Tory govt but don't you think you're going a bit over the top! 😅

Aaaabbbcccc · 06/04/2022 23:45

But Labour's Angela Rayner attacked the PM's words, saying: 'He throws his two pence in, causes so much damage and screw the consequences. I remain of the firm view Boris Johnson is a real liability.'
That is all she has, pathetic.

Twilight7777 · 06/04/2022 23:46

Absolutely yanbu. This is the hill I’m prepared to die on.
